Summary: Wow..this is writing
Review: I have read thousands of books for the ya audience and this is definitely one of the best EVER. It's the kind of book that you read really fast and at the end you wish it wasn't over. About a group of girls who travel to different places over the summer and keep in touch with an awesome pair of jeans that look good on all of them, this book has many twists and turns and you'll laugh and cry with the girls. It's the kind of book where sometimes you're screaming at the characters and sometimes you urge them on in different situations. DEFINITELY worth your time. Not boring at all and written very well. High level stuff but keeps a teenager in suspense. I hope there's a sequel.

Summary: the pants
Review: I loved this book! It was funny and entertaining. Reading about the characters and events really made me look forward to my summer vacation. Any American teenage girl could relate to at least on of chacters, and propably love the book.

Summary: A big but....
Review: As a young adult librarian, I'm always happy to see a decent book that gets kids reading. I think this is a good book for the intended audience and recommend it but, unlike the magic pants that cover any size butt, the author has given one character a big problem without covering it. One of the characters is clearly bipolar and heading for trouble. It's veiled but seems clear that her mother had the same disease and committed suicide yet none of her friends or the adults around this girl appear to realize she's ill. The author has a sequel to this book coming out in a few months where I hope she brings the character's illness to the forefront. However, I think she should have written something into -this- book to show awareness of a serious problem to get kids thinking about themselves or others as she did by presenting other hard problems teen girls have to deal with.

Summary: A Wonderful Story of Girlfriends
Review: What a wonderful book! Made me envious that I didn't have such a supportive group of girlfriends when I was in high school. It was so refreshing to read a story about a group of girls who love and support one another, and don't compete and talk behind each others' backs.
This is the story of four friends: Lena, Carmen, Tibby, and Bridget. They were brought together at birth by their mothers, and all born within 17 days of one another. While their mothers' friendships ended, theirs only became stronger with time.
While shopping in a vintage clothing store, Carmen comes across an old pair of jeans. They seem very ordinary, until all 4 girls try them on, and even though they all have different body types, the jeans fit each of them perfectly. The girls are separating for the summer, the first time ever, and they decide that they will all take turns wearing the jeans for a week and then sending them on to the next girl on the list. Hence, the founding of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants!
Each girl encounters different challenges and adventures while wearing the pants, and after sending the pants on, she must come to terms with those challenges. At the end of the summer, they come together again, stronger than ever.

Summary: the sisterhood of the traveling pants
Review: The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is about the lives of four best friends, Tibby-the rebel, Bridget-the athlete, Lena-the beauty, and Carmen-the one with the bad attitude. In the book is the story of the friends' first summer apart. While separated, each friend gets a chance to wear a pair of magical pants that fits each girl's different body type. First, it's agreed that Lena can wear the pants while she's in Greece. Next, the four best friends decide Tibby should wear them to bring her out of her misery of staying home for summer. Then, it's Carmen's chance, and finally the pants would end in Baja with Bridget. Soon the four girls discover that they'll need the pants to give them a little extra confidence, sense, and strength.

While reading this book I thought Bridget's story was the most interesting. It appealed more to me than the other girl's stories because of her daring personality. After every chapter I always was on the tip of my chair wanting to know what happened next. Another reason I liked Bridget's story the best was because her story wasn't that depressing as the others and it hardly had any parts where the story started to drag.

I really liked this book a lot. I thought it really related to the actions and feelings of many teenage girls today. Though, in the beginning of the book the story sort of dragged. It took me sometime before I started to like the book. To me the story only started to get interesting in the middle of the book. However, the second half of the story did make up for the first half. I've recommended this book to almost all of my friends. I'm also really looking forward to reading other books by Ann Brashares.

Summary: Better than I expected!
Review: Tibby, Carmen, Bridget, and Lena! 4 girls that for the first time in their life are going to be apart for a whole summer. What could keep them in touch and their spirts high? Why a pair of thrift shop jeans that are magical of course! They have a pair of pants that fits all of them and looks marvelous. So what do 4 girls destined to be apart for a whole summer do? Send these magical pants around to wherever one girl is staying until she feels the pants have down their purpose (i.e. keep them happy and reminded of each other) then pass them around. Hence "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" is born.
Now your saying, reeeaaallly. Right? Well that's what I thought. That is also why I hestitated to buy the book when it first came out. I thought it would be stupid, very stupid.
But suprise, suprise!
It did start off a little slow but after the second chapter I was hooked. I finished it 8 hours.
Now I really related Tibby who is more of a rebel and had to stay at their hometown for the summer. Other than Bridget, the jock who goes to Baja for a soccer camp. Lena, the Beauty who goes to Greece to visit her Grandparents. And Carmen, who goes to visit her dad. But I think almost everyone can relate to one or more of the girls.
Since the book shows each of the friends summer from their point of view, you get a totaly different way of writing from Ann Brashare everytime(a rare quality)!

A great read!

Summary: Funny as heck!!!!!!
Review: This book really spoke to me and was as funny as anything!!!!!!! It also showed the real bond of four girls and their summer apart.

Summary: Amazing
Review: Sure, the basis of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, by Ann Brashares, may seem a bit weird, or even cheesy. After all it tells the story of magical Pants- ordinary thrift-shop jeans that miraculosly fit each of the four "sisters" perfectly. There's Lena, the beautiful, yet shy girl who is off to spend the summer in Greece with her grandparents. There's Bridget, the strong, sexy, and full-of-energy teenager who is heading to Baja California to participate in a prestigious soccer camp. There's Carmen, the saucy girl with a sometimes uncontrollable temper, off to spend the summer with her father, who she only sees once or twice a year. Then there's Tibby, the bold girl who is left at home all alone. Over the summer, the Pants travel the world, absorbing each of the sister's life-changing summer.

Somehow, I didn't find this book cheesy at all. Though I was expecting it to be a funny book (which it wasn't in most places), I really enjoyed it. It told of typical teenage struggles- with love, courage, and just life in general. At some points it brought me close to tears, at others, it had me nearly screaming at the characters. But overall, this book was just simply heart-touching. The writing was plain and simple, and though Ann Brashares doesn't have a miraculous gift with words, she has a knack for knowing what teenage girls want to read. And she was able to write a powerful novel that I guarantee any young teenage girl will enjoy.

Summary: The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
Review: This has to be the best book I have ever read! The author is extremly talented. You would think it would be one of those books were an adult writes the story and has NO idea what teens are thinking, but it seemed like Ann was inside my head. This is one of those books you never get tired of. I have went back and read parts of the book about twenty times. After I read the book I tried to go back and see what charcter I'm most like but I couldn't. I found that I was like all of them, I wasn't brave like Bee but I was athletic. I have a bad temper like Carma, nervous a certain boy won't like me like Lena, and fell insecure about my apperance like Tib. This is the best book, every teenage girl in America has to read this book.
