Summary: One Magical Summer
Review: An endless summer stretches with endless possibilities. For four friends, this will be the first summer that they are spending alone. Lena is traveling to Greece to spend the summer with her grandparents, Carmen is on her way to visit her father in South Carolina, Bridget is on her way to soccer camp in Baja California, and Tibby has resigned herself to staying in the same town and working at a local store.
When the four discover a pair of 'magic' Pants, they decide to add their own magic to the first summer that they have ever spent apart. The girls lay down a set of rules that they will follow when they are in posession of the Pants. (For example - Rule 2 - You must never double-cuff the Pants. It's tacky. There will never be a time when this will not be tacky.) The girls decide that each will hold on to the Pants for two weeks before mailing them on to the next. At the end of the summer they will come together with all the memories they have made in the Pants and decorate them with memories from the summer.
All girls end up having experiences that change their lives and in some ways mature each of them.
Do the pants really give them confidence through magic or is it all in their imagination and just basic growing up stuff?

Summary: AWESOME BOOK!
Review: This book was awesome! I loved the characters and their own seperate stories. Bridget aka Bee's story was probably my favorite-I fell in love with Eric and I could just imagine him, the beautiful light blue ocean and the beach. I could picture it at night with the stars above and the waves softly crashing against the shore as the tide changed. I wish I was at that camp in Baja! Now I have this urge to go there. I have realized that I wish I was like Bee-not afraid to come to do what you want, getting the guys you want, determined, and with such a great figure and talent as she has! I wish that the stuff between her and Eric had worked out though...I hated it when she was all out of it after that night with him...I wish that was me! Eric seemed to be so nice, like near the end when he says he wanted Bee so badly-I wished that they could have gotten together! oh well. Lena's was my next favorite story. I loved Oia and the Caldera-I could picture them too-a beautiful village built on the steep slopes of the land, down to the dark blue ocean meeting the clear blue, sunny sky. I felt so bad for Kostos and I was glad when they finally got together in the end--if only it had been sooner! I also thought Effie was funny-I loved it when she hooked up with the cute waiter, Andreas! I also loved how Lena was such a great painter and how nice her grandmother and Bapi were. I'm glad that she figured out how to love someone. I think that I liked Carmen & Tibby's stories about the same. I liked the conflicts in both of these stories-they both really moved you. I felt so bad for Carmen when she showed up, all excited, and there she found her new family! It was so sad how she kept getting pushed away by her dad...and I kept thinking that Carmen & Paul would hook up, but they never did! He was nice to her at the wedding though. I loved Tibby's story too, but it was not super exciting until Bailey came along. It was so sad that she was sick and died only when they started to become friends! I hated it when Mimi died and Tibby was in her all depressed stage...it was so sad! I loved them making the documentary and Tibby discovering so much about the world. I loved this book so much! It has helped me understand so much and it was so fun to read...I couldn't put it down! I am going to become more like Bee...go for what I want. You have to read this...it's everything you'll ever want in a book, plus some!

Summary: seeing from a different perspective..
Review: I adored this book and read it in about 4 hours. I laughed and I cried and I felt what the girls felt. It all tied together because of a pair of pants, and this summer would be the biggest in their life. They would be apart yet together.

To say that Bridget wasn't my favorite character would be to lie. But, in all honesty - I loved all the girls and I could realate to each personally. Carmen- the half Puerto-Rican with the bad attitude was most like me. Then Bridget- the fearless athlete who always goes beyond her limit. Lena- the person that takes the most to open up to, but when you do, you have a true friend that will do just about anything for you. And of course Tibby- the rebel and outcast whom was just a extraordinary girl who had feelings unlike what others thought.

Families breaking apart, new ones beggining, falling in love, not being able to be with the one you love... and being able to keep in touch because of a magical pair of pants. The pants even fit over Carmen's big boricua butt.

The book had an impact on me and I just fell in love with the characters so much and reminded me of me and my true friends. It's a must read.

Summary: The Sisterhood Lives ON!!!!!
Review: This is one of my favorite books, and I can most closely relate to Bridjet, though I'm also a bit like Carmen. One of my friends was reading it and recommended it to me, and I read it over spring break and LOVED it!!!!!!!!!!! This book made me laugh out loud, and it also made me cry so that I had to stop reading. It is one of the best books EVER, and I love the quotes, especially the J.R.R. Tolkien one, which I think is the first. I KNOW you will enjoy this book, so just give it a chance. And, as Jay Leno says to Tibby, "Suprise yourself."

Summary: Could they be magic.
Review: Four close friends are brought together in a new and imaginative way when one girl purchases a pair of second hand jeans in a thrift shop. Imagine the surprise when each girl no matter what her size or shape fits perfectly in them and looks fantastic.

This is the first summer they will be spending apart from each other so to share in the wonders of these pants they decide to keep them for a week each and mail them on to the next girl. A confidence seems to permeate the pants leaving the wearer just a bit more attentive to her surroundings and the possibilities that lay ahead.

The trials and tribulations of growing up are presented in a wonderful light that makes this book a timely learning experience as well as a spectacular story. This is a Young Adult novel that gives credence to the feelings and expectations of teen girls everywhere. There are many lessons to be learned here and the author presents them in a manner that makes the reader feel a part of the story. Kelsana 3/26/02

Summary: A Great Quick Read
Review: My mom got me this book and I thought it would be a stupid corny book (especially with the idea of a magical pair of jeans), but it was so good! I read it in 24 hours, staying up late because I couldn't put it down. I reccomend it for any teenage girl for a fun quick read.

Summary: The Sisterhood of Traveling Pants
Review: "The Sisterhood of Traveling Pants" is about Tibby, Bridget at, Lena, and Carmen. These four girls are all best friends and always spend the summer with eachother. This book is about all four of them spending their first summer away from eachother. While everyone was seperated, each girl had a chance to wear a pair of magical pants that fit each girl's different body type. The first person that gets to wear it is Lena, when she goes to Greece. Then next they decide Tibby could wear them while she stays home for the summer. Then next is Carmen, and the last person that will wear them is Bridget, when she goes to the Baja. While wearing the pants, the girls discover that it helps them get through the summer without all them being together.

Reading this book has been great. Again, it was like reading somone else's diary, which I love to do. It was reading about what all the four girls go through without eachother to comfort one another. That's one of the main things I look for in a book to read. I look for truth, which in my head means something like a diary. Every girl has a different point of veiw on how the summer has been going without being together. I love reading about the lives of others!

My favorite part in this book was reading Bridget's story. I loved reading her part better because it had a more interesting vibe to it. All the other girl's story was very common and kind of boring. Just because I only liked Bridget's part in the book, doesn't mean that I didn't like the rest of it. It's because I did. It was just her part that i enjoyed the most. Hopefully I get to read more books by Ann Brashares soon.

Summary: If you like Meg Cabot ...
Review: This book is not a difficult read; in fact, I finished it from cover to cover in under four hours. I don't think I had terribly high expectations, but this book most certainly did not live up to those that I had. The characters, although not "Mary Sue" perfect girls, fit into the young adult book stereotype: the cynical one, the introverted one, the pretty one, the nice one, etc. Perhaps the author was trying to create characters one could relate to and feel like one knows, but to me they seemed no different then those created by any other author.

If you like the "Princess" series by Meg Cabot, you'll love "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants." Or, if you're like me and you thought Meg Cabot's books were mediocre at best, then I advise you to read something more worthy of your time.

Summary: Great story with wonderful characters
Review: Meet Tibby, Lena, Bridget, and Carmen. Best of friends who are going to be spending there first summer apart from each other. When the pants come into the girls lives they realize that these pants should be shared between them for the summer and that this will keep them together even thou they are so far apart

Each girl is going to a different place. Lena is going to Greece for the summer with her sister to spend time with her grandparents, here she learns that not everything appears as it is the first time. Carmen who goes to South Carolina to spend the summer with her dad has a shock the minute she gets there. She learns that thou things are changing nothing will change her feelings. Tibby, she spends the summer working at the local store where the girls live and she meet a young girl Bailey whos is going thru her own life problems and make Tibby look at the world in new view. Finally there is Bridget who is going to Baja Mexico for soccer camp, here she falls in love with a guy but soon learns that she has to change some things in her life because she is starting to feel some of the pain.

These pants bring the girls both happiness and sadness but ulimently they bring the girls happiness in the end.

I can't wait to read more hopefully about the girls.
