Rating: Summary: Friends Forever, right? Review: This is the best friendship book I've ever read. Over a summer friends change, but some just won't let that happen, no matter how far apart they are from each other. I loved this book, I could totally a little of myself in each of the characters. You'll find yourself wanting to know more about all of them. I can't wait for the sequel. This is a must read. Read it and give it to your friends to read, they will love it too.
Rating: Summary: The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants Review: In this story, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, four girls, Lena, Tibby, Bridget and Carmen are seperated for the first time in a long time.( Summer vacation) They decide that the best way to stay close, without being so close, is to each take turns wearing the "traveling pants." The pants go through more dramatic events the two or three of the girls put together. The first girl to get the pants is Lena. She, her sister, and the pants go on a trip to Greece to visit old relatives and make new friends. While wearing the pants, well, the same day she wears the pants, she is caught skinny-dipping by the neighbor boy who has a crush on her. When she sees him spying, she rushes to get dressed and go home. When she gets home, her grandparents notice her pants are inside out, and her blouse is not buttoned properly, and the only thing she can say is the boys name, a very long and strange chain of events follows. The second girl to get the pants is Tibby; she is the only girl not on some wild trip far away from the boring town they call home. Instead she is working in a neighborhood grocery store trying to raise money for a new car. While on the job she bumps into a brat, then finds out that the girl has cancer. She makes the little girls' last days very pleasent by letting her help with a soon to be big screen movie. The third girl to get the pants is Bridget. While on a trip to soccer camp she runs into the guy of her dreams, a camp counseler. Although he is at least 4 years older and could get in deep trouble, he still makes time to see her. Bridget thinks that the pants give her goodluck in soccer, so during a game she tries to go on field while wearing them. Her coach says NO WAY, so Bridget leaves them in the sidelines to watch. The last girl to get the pants is Carmen. Carmen is off to visit her father, expecting the whole summer to be her and him only. But when she notices her dads new Volvo and huge house, she knows something is up. When inside her Dad's new pad she meets her nightmare, her Father's fiance and soon to be stepchildren. Carmen feels like an outsider with her new perfect caucasin family, for she is hispanic, darker-skinned, and rounder than her perfect soon-to-be stepsister. She and the pants do the worst possible when she decides to run away. Hoping that her father is in much distress, she returns home. Looking through a window she spots her father eating dinner with his new family like nothing is wrong at all;what she does next is a real shocker. I really enjoyed this book ! I can relate to Carmen and Bridget. This book is great for young adults, teens.
Rating: Summary: Friendship triumphs over all! Review: A great read about teenage friendship and growing up. Told through 4 viewpoints as a pair of magical pants (one size fits all and makes you look great--I want a pair!) makes its way around the world and between the girls. Funny, sad, and an all-around good book.
Rating: Summary: An ode to Life Review: This is the ultimate ode to the life we wish we had, and the life we do have. Each word engraved solely with the tears of wish, and the tears of dream. Isn't it odd how touching simplicity can be? Maybe reading this book should be called serendipity. Or how amazing it is that the emotions of each of these four girls links and entertwines with our own wayward emotions. It is the summer book we read, aging, as time passes until we have aged and grayed with wiser beauty. It is the book we pass on as an ode to the friendships we know might disappear but sooner. It is the pure form of emotion we take on, the tears we cry without knowing. It is the swell of the tears of the ocean. The one that is mainly a large eye with so many wordly things to ponder and cry from. This is the book that screams not to forget it. And we don't.
Rating: Summary: I can't explain! Review: This book was not only AMAZING but I felt like it was "the pants " for me and my friends, I had been thinking about buying this book for a long time, when one of my friends Lauren told me she had read it, I asked to borrow it and read it in a day--I am an avid reader- after that she gave it to my friend Lynsey, we constantly talk about it and are totally smitten with all the charcters, esp. Kostos, oy,he sounds amazing, I hope you all read it! It is def. a life changing experience, and I have read many books, so trust me! The cahracter development is amazing and the plot is just fun, I always felt like I could relate-divorced parents, bing stuck watching little siblings turning away the guy you really want, and taking risks, like flirting w/ a counsler
Rating: Summary: The Traveling Pants Review: The traveling pants is funny, sad, happy, and invigorating. I enjoyed this book because it is a story of four best-friends that are zipped together by a pair of pants. During the summer each of the girls gain new confidence and learn a new lesson about life and theirselfs. Each girl has here own problem and they each have their own solution for it.This book is touching because of what happends to each of the characters through out their journey.
Rating: Summary: Very Good Review: I loved this book it brings you into reality. I didn't want it at first but I borrowed it from a friend who loved it and I fell in love with this book to. Read it and I can almost garantee you will love it to!
Rating: Summary: This book is better than words can express! Review: Being a teenage girl I am not into reading, I would rather use my time doing sports. For English class though I was told I had to read a book. So I searched throughout Amazon.com for 45 mintues just looking for a book to read. I ended up choosing, this one and read it in a day. The descripitions were so realistic and it seemed as though I was witnessing everything that went on in this book, first hand. I am almost 16 years old, and every event that occured in this book I could relate to. From: falling head-over-heels for a hot guy to problems with your parents. Reading this book I had emotions of happiness to that weird tingley feeling you get when there's a romantic scene(If you're a girl you'll understand what I mean). I couldn't put it down, and I know my friends would laugh at me if they knew I was this into a book. I will read it again! I am hoping the writer will continue writing and I can't wait to read what she puts out next. I hope this review has helped you, and I HOPE you go and BUY THIS BOOK!!!!
Rating: Summary: Sweet book! Review: This is such a touching story. I can relate to all of the girls, even if I've never been to Greece and gotten caught off-guard by a cute guy (like Lena), or been to soccer camp in Baja and met a cute counselor and taken extrodinary risks (like Bridget), or had my dad divorce my mom then have my dad get engaged WITHOUT TELLING ME (like Carmen), or had to stay at home over the summer and met an extrodinary young girl that changed my life (like Tibby). Though all the girls seemed very similar (especially how they dealt with surprises and annoyances), overall they were different enough that the story was interesting. But the part that I felt I could relate to the most was their friendship and how they used the pants to really represent it. Friendship is sort of like those pants: the more wear and tear they take the more comfortable and strong they become. So even if the four girls were seperated and grew and learned on their own, the friendship they shared remained just as strong and may even have become a little stronger. The quotes at the beginning of each chapter also add so much and sum up the story so well... READ IT!
Rating: Summary: you have to read this Review: Theres really not a lot I can say besides it would a good idea if you read this book. I dont want to give any of it away. It didnt take me long to read because Im 15 and a fast reader but I thouroughly enjoyed it. I thought it was just going to be another cheesey teen valley twins-like book but this adventure between 4 very realistic girls was heartfelt and impossible to put down. I identified with Tibby the most but I wish I could be like Bridget. I laughed, I cried, and when it was over I wanted it to go on forever. I hope this author writes another novel. Read the book. Every girl no matter what age should read this book.
