Rating: Summary: Great Story -- Can Relate Review: I finally read this book last week and I thought it was pretty fantastic. The story was great, the book focuses not really on the pants, but on the girls' friendship. They spend the summer in four different places around the world and keep in touch with letters and the jeans. They all go through some sort of important event and its just about growing up. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because I didn't really like the ending.
Rating: Summary: I'd really like to give it 5 stars but....... Review: ... The story sounded sort of like "The Joy Luck Club" for young adults. I was right. The story is incredibly moving and most readers will find themselves in one of the 4 girls. Their summers may not be ordinary and some parts of the story may seem unbelievable, such as Bridget and her soccer coach, but anyone who reads this has or eventually will go through a defining period like the ones that the four girls go through. However I did have one problem with the book, the story switched around much too quickly leaving readers hanging at crucial points which the author might have thought was building suspense, but really only made me frustrated. An excellent effort and I anxiously await the second one.
Rating: Summary: Good Read Review: The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants was the best book I've read during fourth grade. This magical book, written by the one and only Ann Brashares, is about a pair of used vintage jeans bought by a maturing teen. A special quality of these pants is that they appear stylish on four different sized girls. Each girl is extremely nervous that their close friendship will grow far apart, because of the many places they will go over the summer. These four places are soccer camp, home working at the local market, staying with grandparents in Greece, and visiting newly married dad and his family. As you can see, this book has many different places to let your mind travel. The reasons I picked this book is because it is very descriptive, true to life, and long so you can enjoy the book for a longer amount of time. Lastly I picked this book because I really enjoyed the author's writing style.
Rating: Summary: They really do Travel. Review: By Molly Conway, age 14 Teen Editor ...Ann Brashares has managed to intertwine the stories of these four best friends into one uplifting novel. The plot goes as follows. Four best friends, Carmen, Tibby, Bridget and Lena are very different girls but have been best friends since their pregnant mothers were in the same aerobics class. This coming summer is going to be their first apart from each other and they find the perfect way to stay in touch, the traveling pants. This unseeingly magical pair of jeans was found at a used clothing store yet it fits each of the girls beautifully despite their drastically different shapes. The pants begin their journey from girl to girl starting in Greece with Lena and her sister who are staying with their grandparents for the first time. Next they will go to Tibby who is not happy about staying home but makes the best or worst of it in her video Osuckumentary of her time working at Wallgreens. Next the pants will find their way to Carmen who is spending her first summer with her dad, and then to Bridget who is off to soccer camp. Then, they would go back to each girl in the opposite direction. The story flips from the escapades of one girl to the next as the summer progresses and no one finds what they expected out of it. The book is also sprinkled with quotes as the subject of the story changes making this book very nice for someone with a short attention span. Copyright 2002, Blue Jean Media, Inc.
Rating: Summary: The best book! Review: I love this book it is so much fun! You get to see what happens to each girl and what experience they have with the magical pants!!! I recomend that everyone reads it!! ITS SO GOOD
Rating: Summary: FRIENDS FOREVER Review: This book shows what true friendship is... It was amazing... What a wonderful book!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Story Review: Okay, what could be better than a story about friendship that makes you laugh, cry, and that you can TRULY relate too? Not many books make the cut. It follows the summers of four best friends. There's Lena, the enchanting artist who spends her summer in Greece with her grandparents where she learns to open her heart; Bridget, the determined athlete who goes to camp for the summer and learns that love can hurt; Tibby the rebel, stuck in her hometown, and while making a documentary finds a new friend in need; and Carmen, who is anxious to see her father only to find that he is engaged to someone with a "perfect" family. This is a wonderful, heartwarming story and I would recommend it to adults and teenagers alike, because women of any age can relate to it. It is "must read". Also, Ann Brashares does a commendable job with her first novel (and hopefully not the last).
Rating: Summary: Very Good Review: I read "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" by Ann Brashares in an afternoon spent at [a local bookstore] with my older sister. We were just browsing around, looking for things to read, and she recommended it to me. I loved it. It made me laugh, and it almost made me cry (almost, because I was in public), and it was altogether very touching. I really empathized with all of the girls, and got into the story. The only thing wrong with the book was that it wasn't longer. There needs to be a sequel!
