Rating: Summary: what else can i say? Review: completely stunned that this book was spectacular... awesome... you know, i expected that it would be good, bc my friend meg recommended it to me, but then I was faced with the connections and feelings of the girls. By the author taking the four different, yet connected girls, and solidifying the figuritive bonds with such a concrete symbol, it was possible to share so many different views. This book deals with the issues of death, love, anger, confusion, lust, divorce... i could go on but you really have to read it. I will promise this- no matter what your age, shape, mentality, you will find something that will connect you to the story and cause a kaleidoscope of emotions that will make you sad to see it [the story] end. This book will be running through my head indefinitely... i just finished it, and i'm already looking for more. This is truly a completely incredible read!
Rating: Summary: Life lessons Review: The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, by Ann Brashare is about four young girls who have been best friends since they were born. The girls are looking forward to their summer vacation, but at the same time are saddened that they will be separated. They have made a pact to say connected through a pair of thrift store jeans, which they will take turns wearing during their excursions. Brashares has given each girl a distinct personality, yet it is believable how these four girls would be steadfast friends. Individually, each girl goes through a personal experience that forces her to rely solely on herself. Leena spends her summer in Greece with her grandparents and spends most of her time ignoring her true feelings. Bridget goes away to soccer camp where she lets her impulsive behavior get the better of her. Carmen's fiery temper explodes when her expectations of having her father all to herself quickly come to a halt. Finally, Tibby who is disappointed that she too isn't off on an adventure somewhere, befriends a young girl who shows Tibby that she has no reason to be feeling sorry for herself. This is a heartfelt story of friendship that will take the reader along with the girls and yearn for their chance to wear the traveling pants.
Rating: Summary: A story that you don't want to end Review: This is the kind of story that makes you cry, laugh, and feel what the characters are feeling. This may be the best book that I have ever read! I cryed when this book ened and I totally related to the story. It has great character development and is worth whatever you have to pay to own this book.
Rating: Summary: Magic Britches Review: My 12-year-old daughter and I both LOVED this book, although it made us cry real tears in spots. Despite the beginning, which makes you think that this will be the customary stereotype-based "Babysitters Club" routine, the novel is full of surprises. The jockette has to overcome more than sports challenges; the cynical child of former hippies is thrust into the world of drudgery by her job at "Wal-Mans;" the model-beautiful girl discovers her fallibility; the half-Puerto Rican lass who has always yearned for the Aryan perfect family of fifties sitcoms learns to overcome her anger when her father achieves just that, leaving her out. There is a definite underlying sexuality that is alluded to more explicitly than I sometimes felt comfortable with as my daughter and I read it together, but she was completely unfazed. This is the modern *Little Women,* complete with the balance of truth and sentimentality that appeals most to adolescents. Like the magic pants themselves, this book is very likely to fit all.
Rating: Summary: A Must READ! Review: The Sisterhood of the Traveling pants is about four best friends who found a "magic" pair of pants that flatters all of their figures, even though they have completely different body types. They head off for the summer and keep in touch by sending the pants to each other. Each person has to write to tell of their experience with the pants. This book is awesome! I'm passing on my book to all of my girlfriends.
Rating: Summary: Amazing! Review: I originally ordered this book because it sounded somewhat interesting, but I ended up loving it. The story of these girls was very similar to that of me and my friends so I felt as if I had a connection with the book. I ended up being so wrapped up in the book that I read it all in one day. I have since passed the book around to every single one of my best friends who all loved it. So there are 9 people who loved it, and you will too!
Rating: Summary: Well written! Review: This was a great summer read- it was interesting and funny! The story about the 4 girls was really great, but I personaly thought it would have been better w/out the "magic pants", because they took away from how realistic the rest of the story was. I thought this was a very worthwhile book and would recomend it as good summer reading.
Rating: Summary: WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BE A TEENAGE GIRL TODAY Review: Jeans that fit and flatter add confidence to the wearer -- in this case 4 teen girl firends who mail the jeans back and forth one summer. This is their first summer apart, and they all have coming-of-age experiences that make THE SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING PANTS a "must read" for young adults. It's funny, poignant, and right on when it comes to what goes on with teen girls today.
Rating: Summary: I loved it!!! Review: I've never been a huge reader but when my best friend got me this book for Christmas, I couldn't help but start it. I finished it in just two days and have never loved a book so much in my life. Since then, I've given it to four of my other best friends and they've all loved it too. It's the perfect mix of teenage problems and somewhere in it, everyone can relate to one of them. It was so awesome, I recomend this book to everyone!!!
Rating: Summary: A Sweet Book Review: The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is a great book. I read it while I was at summer camp and it is so good you don't want to set it down. It's about four girls who share one pair of jeans. They are best friends and this summer they are all doing different things. The only thing they share over the summer are the pants! They send them to each other after they have them for so long. The jeans are with them in times of happiness and times of sorrow. All four girls have problems and all four of them have to face them, but each in their own way. I recomend this book for preteens and teenagers. It's the best! You'll love it! It woulld be a great book to pass on to friends.
