Rating: Summary: Wow! Review: This is hands down the best book I have ever read in my life.Speaking as an 11 year old I have no experince with those kinds of things but im sure I will. This is a book that says "hey im not a perfect person.I make mistakes.Lots of them". But most of all it says keep it real. Your only human.I think this is a kick butt book.
Rating: Summary: Sisterhood takes on a whole new meaning Review: This book was quite a read. Being a teenager going into the novel, I was expecting a mushy, love infested story of fashion. Instead I read about seemingly real teenaged girls with very real problems. Lena, Tibby, Bridget, and Carmen each embark on a summer that's unlike any other. Beautiful Lena's off to Greece to reluctantly fall in love and cause havoc amongst the Greeks. Athletic Bridget is off to Baja to soccer camp, where she falls in love with a 20 something conselor, big no-no=big heartbreak. Tibby befriends a dying young girl who gives her insight on what life's all about. Carmen deals with her father's new family and a feeling that her Puerto Rican self is unworthy. despite being totally different, the girl's constantly write each other and share their most heart wrenching secrets. Their emotional turmoil is broken by a pair of jeans they, deem as magic. For some reason, the jeans make each girl who wears them feel like a queen. Though its just an issue of confidence and the aura projected by the jeans, you can't help but wonder if they really are magic. I didn't want to come to the last page of this book. Every female teen should at least read the back cover. Throughout the entire book, the reader is inspired by humorous quotes that foreshadow the trials and tribulations the character will face in that chapter. A highly recommended read.
Rating: Summary: Great Friendship Book:::Sister Hood of TheTraveling Pants Review: The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants was an amazing book. It begins with a pair of thrift shop jeans that one of the girls buys. When she decides to give them away to one of her best friends, the other two want to try them on. As they put them on, they fit all the girls...and the girls were many different shapes, sizes, and nationalities. The night that they discovered the pants was the girls last night together until summer ended. Each girl had her own place to go...he own summer to explore and experiece new friendships and new loves. Carmen plans to bond with her father over the summer. She pictured the summer perfect; playing tennis with him and doing all the fun things they always did when her parents were still together... Bridgette leaves to attend a soccer camp in Baja, California and ends up falling for the older but cute counslor. They have a few steamy nights but she realizes that she can't have him. Not sure what she learned...lol Lena is the quiet one who refuses to fall in love with guys. She takes the pants on a journey to greece to stay with her grandparents. Her grandparents wanted her to fall in love with a neighbor but Lena refuses... It was a great book that resulted in the reunion of the girls. READ IT!
Rating: Summary: Great Book! Review: This book is a really great read! It's about 4 girls who are all away for the summer, and share their experiences through a pair of just regular old, blue jeans. This book made me laugh, made me cry, and made me remember some of MY experiences like the girls in this book go through. It's probably the kind of book that girls/women would enjoy reading more then boys or men, but...all around...Ann Brashares has a very impressive writing style! I have reccomended this book to a lot of my friends, and I will continue to do so....you won't be wasting your time reading this!
Rating: Summary: Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants Review: I enjoyed this book very much. It's an easy read, yet well written and insightful. At the time that I read this book I was going through or had gone through more than half of the situations presented in this book. Anne Brashares obviously remembers what it is to be a teenager. It also has clever quotes interspersed with and pertaining to the action. My favorite (although it may not be exactly as presented in the book) was "If you have an enemy, walk a mile in their shoes. That way, you're a mile away from them and you have their shoes." Every teenage girl will identify with the characters in this book, yet it manages to be original and fresh at the same time, complete with a wonderfully happy ending so sweet it's reminiscent of a fairy tale. I recommend it.
Rating: Summary: I loved this book! Review: I loved this book! I got it because my mom saw that it was at the top of the best-sellers list and thought it sounded like a good book. I was like ok...whatever. I started reading it and thought it was ok....but as I got into the girls stories, the book was amazing! In the beggining i didn't like the way it went from girl to girl...but in the end i liked the way it left you in suspense. Every teenage girl should read this book. Trust me.
Rating: Summary: Awesome teen book! Review: Lena, Carmen, Bridget, and Tibby have all known eachother since before they were born. Their mothers went to the same aerobics class and became friends when they were pregnant, so the girls grew up together. They have spent every summer together, but this year they are going to finally all go off in different directions. But before they go, they meet at Carmen's house and discover a pair of pants. Though they all have different builds, each girl fits the pants perfectly, and they all argue over who will have the pants. They decide that they will alternate, and each week, a different girl gets the pants. Over the summer, many things happen. Lena goes to Greece and meets Kostos. She doesn't trust him, and ends up almost ruining her vacation. Carmen expects to spend the summer with her divorced dad, but finds out that her dad is engaged. She suddenly becomes the evil stepdaughter and does everything she can to make her almost-stepmother miserable. Bridget goes to soccer camp and falls in love with an older coach, who is off-limits to counselors. She gets involved in a situation that is way too deep for her. And Tibby stays at home and decides to work. She hates it, but through it she meets a girl dying of cancer, and realizes what life means. Through this pair of pants, the girls do many things apart yet stay together. I loved this book. It was really funny and really serious at the same time. I got to know the characters really well, and by the end of the book I wanted to meet them all. The story moves quickly, but is really interesting. It is a bit hard to follow at times because it jumps back and forth from girl to girl in no particular order, but it is still managable. I loved this book, and would recommend it to anyone 13-16.
Rating: Summary: Great Teen Novel Review: I really enjoyed this book. When others may have called this book a Teenie-bopper kind of thing. I think they are very wrong. This book is a great book for teens and people who like a story about how friendship REALLY works not some "Oh i'm so perfect" kind of book.
