Rating: Summary: Excellent Book Review: I am not a teenage girl but I could not put this book down. I managed to read it in one (very long) sitting. This is the story of four teenage girls (Carmen, Lena, Bridget, and Tibby) who have been friends for life and are on the verge of turning 16. Up until this point, they have spent every summer together, but this summer they will all be in different places. Just prior to the separation, Tibby finds an old pair of forgotten thrift store jeans. Each girl in turn tries on the pants and discover that they fit all of them, bringing out each girl's appealing physical features in an attractive way. They deside the pants must be magic (although "extraordinary" would probably be a better word) and use the pants to keep them all connected over the summer. Each girl gets to have the pants twice over the summer. I found it especially interesting that during the time each girl has the pants, something pivitol happens in the story. When each girl gets the pants for the second time, things which were in chaos seem to get resolved, or at least better. Lena, who gets the pants first, takes them to Greece with her where she goes with her sister to visit their grandparents. During her time in the pants (or not in the pants...but it's not what you think), there is a terrible misunderstanding between her and an attractive local boy named Kostos, who has a slight crush on her. Tibby, who gets the pants next, is the only one of the four girls who remains home, working at a lame job. While she is in the pants, she is working on her summer project "suckumentary" (ha!), a movie she is making about how stupid and boring her hometown is. Tibby has made friends with a younger girl, Bailey, who takes a turn in the pants and teaches Tibby a life changing lesson about life and death, and that people aren't really as stupid as Tibby thinks. Carmen is off to South Carolina to spend some quality time with her father, who is divorced from her mother. Carmen is thrilled about seeing him until she learns, in a very uncomfortable way, that her dad is getting remarried. While wearing the pants, Carmen behaves in a bad and spontaneous (yet understandable) way. Bridget is the last one to take her turn in the pants. She is in Baja at a soccer camp for girls with extreme talent. She developes a serious attraction to one of the coaches, a college guy who is quite a bit older then her. Bridget is very flirty with him, which leads to the time when she is wearing the pants and makes a quick decision to be with him without really thinking about the consequences. All of the stories deal with important issues for teenagers, girls especially, and are handled with taste, tenderness, and compassion. Not only that, but I found this book to be very realistic in both humerous and sad ways. This is an excellent book that I would recommend to all teenage girls (or women who have been teenage and know what it's like). I can't wait for the next volume!

Rating: Summary: A Story That Fits As Well As The Pants Do! Review: Who doesn't like a good summer read? If you are like many of the girls out there, then you will find your summer reading book in the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. The story is about four girls (Carmen, Lena, Tibby, and Bridget) who share a unique bond, which is held steadfast throughout the entire adventure. The reason that girls find this book so totally awesome is that it combines all sorts of emotions in one book. The story is about life and making the most of it. You have Bridget who is wild and crazy and having a blast in Baja, California with her friends and some totally hot guys. Bridget's story is almost like a glazed over dream, it's so vivid and appealing. The images that the author creates helps the story to be more real. Then you have Tibby who is forced to deal with all kinds of tragedies, which turns the focus of the book from a dream to a reality. Cancer, death, etc., all of it becomes more real. Then you have Carmen with her tough family issues that are just as much a surprise to her as they are to the reader. Finally, there's Lena who travels across the seas in Greece. She realizes that the boy she thought was trying to spy on her really is the nicest boy she ever met. Girls love this book because of the fantasy of the book. It brings their adventures and stories together all in one pair of pants - magic pants. All four girls have totally different lives, but they all interrelate in the big picture. The story is about life and what they make out of it. Girls love this book because it is true to life, and it is true to love. For that reason I cannot think of a better book I could ever read.
Rating: Summary: A Book That Will Make You Laugh And Smile! Review: I was looking for a book to match my fun an outgoing personality and I found a winner. The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants isn't about magical pants or pants that are sisters, it's about four girls that learn about who they really are. I thought this book was very, very funny and it was so good, I couldn't put it down! I think this is a great book for girls of any age and every girl should read it! :-D!

Rating: Summary: Great book, but with a few flaws Review: Because my 13 year old daughter is an avid fan of Meg Cabot, this book was recommended to my by a well known bookstore. She finished it in under 5 hours and was slightly dissappointed. The book follows the lives of 4 teenage girls the summer before their last years of high school, Lena Carmen Tibby and Bridget. This was what my daughter told me: The format in which the book was written was terrible. The book skipped around and at times it was hard to tell whos story you were reading. But once you got past that aspect there was much more. Tibby is left at home while all her friends go on vacation, and makes friends with a preteen girl who has leukemia. She makes a documentary about all the people in her life over the summer, including her boss at the drug store where she works. While the situation of someone getting left behind over the summer isn't uncommon, a 15 year old making friends with some little girl that she rescued is. Bailey, the little girl faints and goes unconcious at the drugstore and Tibby goes with her in the ambulence. Lena goes to Greece with her younger sister Effie to visit her grandparents and gets set up by her grandmother with Kostos an 18 year old raised by the town and his grandparents. Lena finds a small pond where she paints and decides to go swimming but forgot her suit. So instead she goes skinny-dipping and finds Kostos spying on her. But not until later does she realize that it was his spot first and that he was not spying on her but figuring out how they could share the spot. And of course she realizes that she is in love with him. Carmen visits her dad over the summer and finds out that he is getting remarried to a woman that she completely hates. She doesn't want someone to take away her dad. So she throws a rock into her dad and stepmoms house and breaks a window, flys back home and doesn't come back until the wedding. She knows that she should be mad at her dad but she instead denys it and decides to be mad at his fiance instead. Last we have Bridget a beauty and a great soccer player who goes to Baja California (Mexico) for a Soccer camp where she meets the Hottie of the camp, Eric. Eric is a 19 year old coach going to Columbia who has noticed Bridget ever since she arrived at camp. Bridget has tried to get his attention ever since she arrived at camp. During the night she sneaks into his cabin to see him, and he follows her out into the night, but tells her later that they "can't do this." "This" is a little unclear at first but most readers know what happened because of their own experiences. Everyone has that big thing you didn't want to tell your parents. The other thing is that a pair of pants hardly ever fits all of your friends. My friends and i are all one size apart but thats a rarity. Other than the lack of realism the book is great.
Rating: Summary: Reality, plus the humor! Review: I thought this book was a VERY good way for teen girls, and just about anyone of any age, to realize that they all go through the same of the weird, the bad, and the ugly problems that affect and impact their lives and lives of the people around them. And, also it sort of let the reader know that "hold on! Things do get better!" I also thought that the story was very well written. The situations and the characters were so believeable. I miss Lena, Bridget, Carmen, and Tibby and I can't wait for the sequel! I recomend this book to everyone of all ages!
Rating: Summary: A Fun to Read Book! Review: This is one of the best books I've ever read! It's very funny and fun to read. It's about 4 girls who are really good friends. One of them finds a pair of jeans in a thrift shop. They all try them on and it fits each of them perfectly. They decide to create the Sisterhood of the traveling pants and send them to each other over the summer. Each girls story is very different and very realistic. It took great force for me to put it down and I can't wait to read the next book in the series!
