Summary: I really loved this book
Review: I really loved this book. My friend had read it so I thought I'd give it a try. Well I did and I loved it! It's about these four girls. Lena's the pretty, keep to herself kind of girl, Carmen, nicknamed Carmen "Carmeena" is the rebel of the group, Tibby's basically the outgoing one who is "not a people person", and Bridget's the athlete who won't take no for an answer. Carmen and Lena are shopping at a thrift store when Carmen buys a pair of pants-baggy,faded jeans, nothing really specail about them. Teh day before they all depart for the summer, they decide that they're going to share the "traveling" pants. Lena takes them with her to visit her grandparents in Greece,Tibby gets them next, working home at Wallman's where she meets a girl named Bailey, who's basically a young Tibby, who's ill with leukimia,Carmen's leaving home to stay with her father , and Bridget brings them to soccer camp, where the pants bring her good luck each game. But Bridget really wants them to spark a relationship with Eric, one of the coaches, who Bridget wants to go out with.
this book is probably for girls ages twelve and up.That is the age apropriate level. This book is definitely girly-girl,so it's not the best book for book talks if your audience is made up of a lot of boys.
Hope you enjoy!

Summary: I could read this over and over
Review: When I first saw the title, I thought it was the lamest book ever. But I read the back, and decided to give it a try and LOVED it. You immediatly love all the characters, they're all different. And not just all perfect miss populars and high school stars, but real life characters. And its so touching how close they all are. Each one of them are going somewhere exciting (ok, maybe not Tibby, but oh well) and the story never gets boring with all the different plots and story lines. But it isn't at all confusing. It so fun reading about Bridget in tropical Baja, and Lena in a traditional Greek village (they made me so jealous, even though I've traveled quite a bit). I also loved the quotes in the book from all different kinds of people. Some were funny, some touching and inspiring. One thing I am SO glad Ann Brashares didn't do, is make the pants some spell casting, magic pants. That would have made it all cheesy. The pants are really just a way of connecting it all, and giving the girls confidence. There are plenty of sad and depressing-ish parts, too though. I lent this book to a friend, and she can't stop thanking me, she loves it so much. Every girl should read this book sometime in their life.

Summary: AN IMAGINATIVELY TOLD STORY SUPERBLY READ
Review: With her debut novel, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants," author Ann Brashares said that she hoped that teens would find it "to be the kind of book that sticks with them a bit, the way books I liked when I was that age stuck with me."

All bets are that teens will find this warm story of friendship, loyalty, and love to be that and more. Angela Goethals, who has appeared in numerous films from "Home Alone" to "Jerry Maguire" perfectly voices the joys and sorrows of four young girls who have been friends for all of their lives.

Tibby, Carmen, Lena and Bridget didn't spring from the same molds, still they're best friends. Finally, the time comes when they'll be spending their first summer apart, each going in different directions from overseas to a soccer camp to a summer with Dad.

The common thread between the girls this summer is a pair of denim threads, blue jeans, that is. Now, these aren't just an ordinary pair of jeans - these pants are imbued with a bit of magic and they fit each girl perfectly. The girls decide that the jeans should be shared, and sent back and forth from girl to girl during the summer.

That's a lot of traveling for pants, but the summer is also a lot of growing up for the girls as they face decisions, challenges, problems and experiences. But, what is paramount is the friendship between them as symbolized by the wonderful pants.

This is a "feel good" story about friendship, about unconditional loyalty and love imaginatively told and superbly read.

Summary: The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
Review: The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is one of the best books I have ever read. (Trust me on this; I read A LOT.)
The story focuses on these four best friends who find this pair of presumably 'magical' pants at a second-hand store. Although all four girls are of very different sizes and builds, the pants fit each girl perfectly. As the girls embark on their first summer apart, they decide that the only way to keep their friendship truly alive would be to share the pants by mail. The Pants would be witness to all the big events throughout their summer, and would be a way to connect them while they are apart.
There is Lena, the introverted beauty, who goes to Greek to visit her grandparents for the summer and ends up falling in love with a boy out their and not knowing how and whether to tell him how she feels. There's emotional, Puerto-Rican Carmen, who goes out to South Carolina to spend time with her father, only to discover that he's engaged to a snotty woman with two blond kids. Tibby, the rebel, becomes a friend of a twelve year old girl, a rebel herself, who is dying of cancer. And Bridget, the hard-core athlete, goes to soccer camp in Baja only to find herself in lust with one of her coaches.
At times hilarious and at others emotionally intense, 'The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants' is a great book for teenage girls. It gives us an in-depth look at the world, and shows us how four very different girls found their identities.

Summary: mackenzies favorite book
Review: Meet Lena, Carmen, Tibby and Bridget with their so-called "magical" pants. They are all fifteen and their birthdays are in September and that's why they think they are a sisterhood. As the girls go through their problems together you'll find that love and friendship is the only thing that will solve their problems. As the summer goes on you see that the pants are not any thing but self-confidence to the girls and friends will always be better than magic.

This book is one of my favorite books and the title sounds dumb but never judge a book by its cove because it's probably the best book you'll ever read. If you like great teen books than this one is most likely for you.

Summary: Cute
Review: Meet Tibby, Bridget, Lena, and Carmen. Four 15-year-olds, all born in September, best friends for life. Meet the magical, traveling pants that the girls share over their first summer apart, shipping the pants from DC to Greece to Baja California to South Carolina. Together, these five characters are the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

Ann Brashares tells an engaging story, as she skillfully weaves the tales of the four girls (plus pants) together. She's created characters you care about and surely ones that teens will identify with. The four girls all learn life lessons over the summer: Tibby learns the value of life from an unlikely friend struggling with leukemia; Carmen learns to accept herself and be honest about her feelings with her soon-to-be remarried Dad; Bridget learns that boys can't fill the hunger in her heart, and Lena finds the courage to love. As for the pants, well, who hasn't owned a perfect pair of blue jeans that fit as though they were made with only you in mind? That's the magic of these pants: they fit all the girls perfectly and look fabulous. Any girl knows immediately that these are indeed magic pants.

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is great for light beach reading or finding out what the young adult market reads. Brashares has a good thing going: she's already published the second installment, and with main characters this young and a strong market for chick lit, we could see more from Tibby, Bridget, Lena, and Carmen. Long live the Sisterhood. And please send the pants to San Diego. I need them to help me find a job.

Summary: GREAT BOOK! :) must-read for teen girls
Review: 'the sisterhood of the traveling pants' is a great book that deals with friendships, love, death, and other teenage issues. the story follows 4 15-going-on-16 year old girls who have been friends forever. lena, tibby, bridget, and carmen have never been apart from each other in the summer except for this summer. lena's going to greece to meet her grandparents, tibby's stuck at home working a minimum wage job, carmen's going to visit her dad, and bridget's off to soccer camp. carmen finds a pair of pants at a thrift shop that surprisingly fits all the girls & makes them look good. they agree to mail each other the pants throughout the summer to maintain contact and share adventures. and oh, what adventures there are!
tibby befriends a little girl with leukemia [sp?], lena's grandmother tries to set her up with a boy named kostos, bridget falls madly in love with an older soccer coach eric, and carmen goes to visit her dad only to find out he's engaged. this story has a lot of humour, yet addresses important issues.
4 stars because i found some of the story line slightly inappropriate for 15-year-olds. recommended for 13+.

Review: The title and cover caught my fancy and I got it even though it was young adult book. I thoroughly enjoyed this slice of teenage life - brought back the feelings and emotions I remember from that time. The premise of the pants was really clever and fun but the stories dealt with some real issues. I will definitely be saving this book for my daughters when they get a bit older.

Summary: Great Book
Review: Sisterhood of the traveling pants is about 4 teenage friends; Lena, Tibby, Bridget and Carmen. Who will be spending their first summer apart. Carmen bought a pair of jeans at a local thrift shop. One day before they were all to leave for their first summer apart. The pants were found in the back of Carmens closet where she threw them not thinking about them again. Soon all the girls were trying on the pants. These magical pants fit all the girls perfectly, Even though all the girls have very different body types. The night before they were supposed to leave they made a pact to share the pants over the summer. Hence the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is born, As each girl has the pants something special is destin to happen to them.

I realize this book is for young adult readers, but anyone who loves a book on friendship would love this book. It will take you back in time to when you were a teenager and friendship was the most important thing in your life.
