Summary: This is the best book!
Review: This book is very reality based, and it couldn't have been better written. We were assigned to read it in school. Usually, no one really reads the book, but everyone is reading it whenever they can, it even has the book haters reading! If you know someone who says they don't like to read, give them this book, it WILL change their mind! This is the second time I've read this, and I love it even more! The story of Ponyboy, who lives with his two brothers (Sodapop and Darry) after his parents die in a car wreck. There is an ongoing conflict between his social group (The Greasers) and the upper class group (The Socs, pronounced soshas). The story of choosing what's right, and the basic theme is: no matter how different we are, we all look at the same sunset. We all have some problems, everyone. You need to read this book, it is one of my favorites.

Summary: TOTALLY AWESOME BOOK!!!!
Review: S.E.Hinton did a wonderful job writing this book. Once you start reading it, you can't put it down! It tells about a group of boys (a gang)called the "greasers" that are constantly being pushed over by the catankerous Socs, the upper class. The greasers, being the poor ones, live on the East Side, while the Socs live on the West Side with all their luxury. Things aren't that bad until one night when the narrarator of the story, Ponyboy, and his friend Johnny turn the table and cause serious problems.

Summary: The Outsiders
Review: This book is about gangs. The West - Side gang are the Socs. The East - Side gangs are called greasers. The greaser telling the story is Ponyboy Curtis. The other greasers in Ponyboy's gang are Sodapop Curtis, Darry Curtis, Steve Randle, Two-Bit Mathews, Dallas Winston, and Johnny Cade. Most of the time the greasers were jumped by the Socs. One time Ponyboy ran away with Johnny to hide in Windrixville all because of Darry who hit Ponyboy. They didn't go back for a week. And when they did, they were in the hospital from a burning church. Ponyboy was out for a rumble against the Socs. They won and when Ponyboy went to the hospital to visit Johnny, Johnny died. A few days after that, Ponyboy went to Juvenile Court for a hearing. If you want to hear more about the story, then read it and see how fun it is!

Summary: The Outsiders
Review: The Outsiders is an excellent book full of acyion, excitement, suspense, and friendship. One of the likeable aspects of the book is that the characters are "down to earth" and they are not perfect. This makes the reader feel comfortable. There are several things to be learned from reading The Outsiders, one is that one should learn to understand, accept, and be kind to your enemies. Also, everyone is human and everyone has their faults

Summary: A Terrible Read
Review: This is one of the worst books I have ever read. I was forced to read it in my English class and I hope I never have to again. S.E. Hinton does a quite shabby job of portraying the boys in this novel, whose abominable grammar is irritating and difficult to understand. The plot is ridiculous and the dialogue is poor; I found myself laughing in the most serious parts of the book. The characters are interminably dumb, and their actions are equally foolish. Hinton adds an obnoxious air of melodrama and sappiness to the story in so many parts, namely the one where Dally "kills himself". Ponyboy's inept attempts to be poetic and deep annoyed me especially. The characters also set horrible examples for today's youth with their inexcusable and absurd behavior. I advise you all not to read this book unless you are prepared to undergo extreme boredness for a good laugh at mediocre writing.

Summary: The Outsiders
Review: The Outsiders is a superb book. The part where Johnny and Ponyboy engage in sexual intercourse was great. I love this book. It made me moist all over. And when they all die after a huge orgy is great. Dont worry, its plenty descriptive. Johnny is huge, if you know what I mean.

Summary: A child psychologist's view
Review: This is a wonderful book to read at the same time your child - age ten or so and older - is reading it. Many pre-adolescent and adolescent issues are dramatically addressed - image versus substance, cliques, gang issues, emerging sexuality, belongingness, assertiveness versus aggression, class distinctions. The characters are engaging and believable, and the story flows well. There are images created by this book that the reader will remember long afterward. S.E. Hinton wrote several novels that are great for adolescents, but this is the best of the lot. It is also a great coming-of-age novel, as the main characters, and especially Ponyboy, are hit with the real meanings of violence, hatred, prejudice, and bigotry. While reading this book, I felt I was walking side-by-side with the characters, seeing what they were seeing, and feeling what they were seeing. It's incredibly realistic and powerful.
