Rating: Summary: I could go on forever about how much I love these books Review: I am not afraid to admit that I am 16 years old and still read these books that I first read at seven. They are amazing. Anne doesn't seem to be a made-up character to me, neither do any of her friends or "family". I read these books at least 6 times a year, each in one sitting. My children will read these books. If you have a daughter age 7, let her read these or read them too her! They open a world of imagination that every child should have.
Rating: Summary: The most wonderful books in the world Review: When I was in high school I was a mean, black leather wearing, heavy metal girl. A long time friend forced me against my will to read the first "Anne" book and my life has been so much more beautiful ever since. These books made me see the magical beauty in nature, bosom friends, family, imagination, and even crabby old ladies (this last has come in handy on many occasions). I now have made a point of buying the set for every girl I consider a friend. I am now 23, and when I have children of my own, girls or boys, I will read them "Anne" as soon as they can understand what I am saying. If you liked the "Anne" books I would also recommend books by Louisa May Alcott (Little Women)and Frances Hodgson Burnett (A Little Princess)
Rating: Summary: An excellent read for any generation Review: I recieved this excellent set of books (all 8) for christmas when I was about 9, and I read them all in three days!!! I couldn't put them down. They were so well written that you could imagine being there (there are parts where Anne's imagination leads to a long and in some cases boring dialogue, but this can be overlooked, as there is som much else that is right with the books.) Not only did I finish all the books in 3 days, I have continued to read them since. I find that no matter how old you get Anne (always with an `e') is always there like a reassuring friend. I must say however, though there is no book better than the first I absolutely LOVED the last. Rilla of Ingleside allowed us a glimpse of the pain of war including both Anne and the family she has shared with us. These books should definitly be shared with the whole family. A word of caution though, if you plan to watch the movie, I wold hoghly recommend you watch it before you read the book because if you don't you will find it extreemly dissapointing and spend the whole time picking out errors in comparison with the books.
Rating: Summary: WOW! Review: This book was WONDERFUL!! The movie was awful, compared to this astounding book! I love how AnnE always gets into scrapes. This book will always be one of my most favorites.
Rating: Summary: Very good books! Review: The Anne of Green Gables series is one of the most interesting set of books I've ever read. Anne with an E is a great heroine; she's always getting into some kind of trouble! Even when she's all grown up, it seems she still can't help messing up sometimes!
Rating: Summary: I thought it was a good and action seeking book. Review: Anne the main chacter learns she doesn't have to be so brave all the time. One time in the story someone dared her to walk on a roof and she did it but fell off, and another time Anne was playing around a lake or pond and she went out in the water on the boat and it had a crack in it and some one had to come save her. I thought that it was a real good book. I was always couldn't wait to get to the next page.
Rating: Summary: Every girl MUST read! Review: I am about to purchase the boxed edition as I cannot find the set as a whole in any library. I have read this set about 4 times and own the videos. At 25 years of age, I still turn to Anne with an E when I'm feeling blue. It is best on chilly, Autumn nights. I recommend this to all young girls to read as it gives a sense of independence with an air of feminity.
Rating: Summary: This is the best series of books EVER! Review: I first read the Anne series when I was 8 years old and I absolutely adored it. I am now 19 and have read the series several more times and I will never stop reading it! Whenever I feel down or need a little pick me up, I read Anne. She is like an old friend. I am saving my complete set so my daughters can enjoy these delightful series as much as I have.
Rating: Summary: I haven't even finished the first book and I love it! Review: It's a great book! I'm 15 and my best friend got me Anne ofGreen Gables for my birthday because she likes it so much.. I wasn'tsure if I'd like it because I usually don't read books like this but once I got past the first 5 pages or so, I started to really get into it! I may not be an orphan or anything, but Anne reminds me of myself.. but with more and more happiness! I love this book, everyone should read it.
Rating: Summary: Kindred Spirit Review: Where else on this earth can you go to find a talkative red-head who wants nothing more than a true friend and a place to dream? Lucy Maud has by far written the most delightful series of books about this wonderful young girl. If you have started the series you CANNOT stop until you are done. Follow Anne as she goes to college, gets married and has a family of her own. Anne will become a part of you; you will think about her every day! These books are not just for children. Grown-ups have delighted in them for years as well. My other Maud favorites include the 'Emily' series. If you like Anne's adventures you'll love these 3 books as well. Don't forget to read an account of the author's life in "Maud:The Life of LM Montgomery" By Harry Bruce...Long live Anne and Kindred Spirits!
