Summary: A delightful tale of the adventure of life
Review: When I first watched the Anne stories re-created on Television I was addicted! I have come to a conclusion that if you enjoy the film then you will adore the novels. One gets a deeper insight into the thoughts and feelings of the characters and the result is the most delightful read. It is so wonderful to be able to read a book that isn't jammed pack full of sex, swearing and violence but rather a lovely tale of the adventure of life.

Summary: Read it With Your Kids!
Review: This is a can't-miss piece of literature for anyone (especially girls!). I highly recommend reading the entire series. I have a very special memory of my mother reading the series to me when I was a young girl. We laughed, we cried, and we bonded. Please give this to your little girl, or if she is too young, read it to her. Not only will you bond with her, you'll heighten her love for reading.

Summary: One of the best!
Review: I have read all of the L.M. books I can get a hold of and still The Ann books are my favorite. When you get this book you get, more then one book out of this one. And besides you can easily relax and let your imagination wonder with the worlds biggest imagenator. My favorite part is when Ann smashes Gilbert with her Slate. I have also watched all the movies except the new one coming out. And my favortie parts is when Gilbert says "I'm Sore-y" It is a true winner, for a single person or a family!

Summary: A man convinced against his will . . .
Review: Okay, so I met this wonderful girl and fell in love back in early 1996 and she informed me that for her birthday she wanted me to watch a movie with her. Little did I know she meant the entire Anne of Green Gables video series. We married. Her birtday came, and the deception was discovered. I revolted, but was reminded that I had promised. I was surprised by how truly delightful the series was. I was later convinced to read the books -- with a lot less resistance. Gentlemen: here's the bottom line. The books were great. Get over your pseudo-macho pride and dive in. The stories and issues are, admittedly, a little dated. However, if you've ever had a wife/sister/daughter/friend/mother that you just couldn't quite understand, these books may help--as they did for me. Not in some pop-psychology best-seller sort of shallow way, but rather through getting into the mind of a delightful, dream-filled girl to understand her hopes, desires, and challenges in a way that men almost never can.

Summary: Practically one of the best!
Review: I started the Anne of Greene Gables series when I was 10 or so and could not stop reading it. This book is one of the best classics and one of my all time childhood favorites (Ramona Quimby being the other)! I read all the series that followed as well and they were equally excellent. Lucy Montgomery has created characters that are so endearing and heartwarming that you feel as if they are real and that you can identify with them. The story is a beautiful story with so much imagination, depth, and heart, and even subtle sweet romance...stories that are very rare to come by these days. It truly touched my heart and has continued to warm my heart even to this day at the age of 24 when I am down or just need some inspiration and good fun reading! Girls and women alike should all read this as this series should never fail to inspire you and make you see the world in a more beautiful and different light. Truly touching, inspiring, romantic, and humorous all at once!

Summary: I LOVE ANNE!
Review: I highly recommend these books to children as well as adults. I first read them when I was 10, but at 21, I have recently re-read the entire series. I promise this is a series that you will LOVE! When I finish reading the Anne books, I feel completely inspired to spread love and imagination around this world to anybody and everybody. Everytime I pick up these books I feel as though I have just run into an old friend on the street. I can assure you that you will definitely find a "kindred spirit" in Anne Shirley. I plan to cherish these books forever and to share them to my own children when I have them. I believe that every little girl should experience the magic of Anne!

Summary: How I wish there were ten stars!
Review: With all the mania over Harry Potter, I hope parents will begin to seek out great children's books to fill in the time gaps between releases. This series is sure to fit the bill. Anne is a great spirited heroine who shines as a light to all girls. The books are funny, interesting, and at times poignant. They may be difficult for younger children to grasp right away, but if Mom or Dad reads them out loud they are sure to please. A fabulous series for child and adult alike!

Summary: a book for life
Review: I've rewritten this around four times already because I keep getting sappy after a few paragraphs. So what can I say about Anne of Green Gables? For me it summarises an idyllic childhood and still to this day I smile simply to recollect the sagas of the haphazardly idealistic Anne Shirley. My mother's fiery yet loving redheaded best friend read this to me from an early age (an old copy from her own childhood 50 years ago) and it has become imprinted on my mind and is still my favourite to this day - even as an english graduate. If you have little girls, please buy this for them. I know it's my little piece of nostalgia, but I want to share it with the world!

Summary: Anne touched my life..now she's reaching out to my daughter
Review: When I was about 6, my mother recorded the movie version of this book for me. I would sit and watch it three and four times a day (even making my older brother watch it too)! When I found out that I was pregnant, my brother went out and bought this book for me. I read it and at 22, it still has the same thrill for me. My daughter is 1 years old and now I read it to her. She even has a doll named "Anne Shirley" that she takes with her everywhere that she goes. The "Anne" trilogies are so inspiring. They manage to keep giving you back something from your childhood that not too many things now-a-days can.
