Rating: Summary: Multi-generational enjoyment Review: My grandmother met Anne (in the book sense) when she was a girl, and then in turn introduced her to my mother, who shared the friendship with me. Now my own little girl is 8 years old, and I am about too order the entire series for her, secure in the knowledge that this timeless, wonderful story of a young girl's journey to womanhood and motherhood will engage my Amy's imagination and capture her heart just as it did the three generations before her.Anne is timeless, beautiful, and heart-breakingly real.
Rating: Summary: The perfect books for young and old Review: I grew up on Prince Edward Island and have read almost all of the Anne books since I was a small child. If you are an avid fan, and you get the opportunity to go to PEI, then Anne's world and all the characters become very special and almost real. In fact, Anne is as real to me as Lucy Maude Montgomery.
Rating: Summary: Best Series Ever! Review: I have two favorite series of books and Anee of Green Gables is one of my favorites. Anne is not like any other girl that I have ever read in any other books. I was so glad when Gilbert and Anne got together because I could tell that Gilbert liked her even though he made fun of her that one time. I think that Lucy Montgomery is a great writer and her books are really good.
Rating: Summary: A classic Review: I read the entire Anne series when I was 12 . Now I'm 19, and I still read this book once a yearIt tells the story of a red-headed orphan who manages to touch the lives of all the people she meets. Although it has wonderful characters, and the description of the Island may me want to live there, it takes a special kind of reader to love theses stories the way I do. You must realize that this book was written in another time, a time without video games and tv. You have to keep an open mind and have a good sense of humor. The first book of the series is definitely the best, and when you finish it you;ll feel like you have renewed faith in human nature.
Rating: Summary: Life changing Review: I believe that every liberated mother should give this series to her daughter. Not only does it teach them history but it teaches them that a girl can accomplish anything. This is the perfect story for an imaginitive child, as I once was. My mother gave the first book to me when I was in first grade. I read it and although I did not understand every word or every idea, I fell in love with it. The following year I saw the movie on PBS and fell in love again. I spent my own money purchasing the whole series and I read every line of every book over and over again. I wanted to be exactly like Anne and I could picture myself married to no one but Gilbert. When I think of my childhood I think of this series period.
Rating: Summary: Friends that you never out grow Review: I've grown up with the Anne series, I first read them when I was 9 and I fell in love with the characters. Now that I'm 22 I still love Anne, Diana, Marilla, Mrs. Lynde, Gilbert and all the rest! I still laugh out loud at Anne's scraps, and cry when Matthew passes on. These books grew up with me, its wonderful to pick up these books and still find my "friends" inside the pages waiting there to entertain me. Unlike most children's books Anne of Green Gables will grow with you, and entertain you for years.
Rating: Summary: Best book any teen should read Review: I read this book when I was 16 (am now 27) and I fell inlove with the characters. It transformed me into another place, as if I was there watching everything unfold before my eyes! I love this book, I plan on buying the whole collection for my 4 year old little girl. It's never too late to get her started on some really good classics. I'm sure she'll love it, as much as I do.
