Summary: Absolutely awesome
Review: Anyone trying desperately to raise their SAT scores but finding either courses or other books absolutely dull should buy this book. anyone not doing that should still buy this book. It helped me to raise my score one hundred points, and it also expanded my vocabulary to ludicrous dimensions that make me sound like a pretentious jerk every once and awhile when i slip words like "macabre" into otherwise ordinary conversation.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: GET THIS BOOK!
Review: I didn't have much time to work with this book, but in a little under two weeks I raised my math score by 40 points and my verbal by 10. I definitely recommend this book to ANYONE taking the SAT or PSAT. It is an invaluable resource (and the jokes are worth every cent!). You really get what you pay for with this book, and much more! (Just don't let the Evil Testing Serpent know that you now have the power to annihilate the Slimy Attrocious Torture. ^_^)

Summary: BUY THIS BOOK!
Review: I used an earlier edition of this book a few years ago and my score went up from 1280 to 1490. It's an easy read and is laced with humor. You'll end up laughing while you study. What a novelty! I recommend it to anyone needing to prepare for the SAT.

Summary: Finally... an SAT book that I find interesting to read...
Review: I've been forced to study for the SATs and the PSATs. I've been given tons and tons of books that i was told to read... and couldn't. Everytime I read a sentence I'd have to go back and read it again because i'd falled asleep in the midst of it. This book is witty and a pleasure to read. it's informative, has a list of vocabulary with stick-in-your-head sentences, and gives you tips on how to guess. This is a must-have...

Summary: Best Book for SAT Preparation ... Period!
Review: If you are battling just to break 1000 or are shooting for 1600, this book is for you. By far, this is the funniest book ever written on the SAT and this hilarious tone keeps you motivated throughout the book. I read this book in two days! I used this book, along with 10 Real SATs and SAT 1600 by Kaplan to raise my score from 1260 to 1460. So, it can be done! For [the price] this money is worth 3 times its weight in gold. Buy this book...

Summary: you will do well; trust me.
Review: If you are reading this review, you don't need this book. You already have what it offers-motivation. If you care enough about the SAT to read reviews of the best practice books, you will do well; trust me. This book is for students who need a push to prepare. While not a bad book for its purpose, it spends too much time motivating, and not enough time teaching. There are relatively few practice exercises, and the answers are too basic for motivated students. Instead, I recommend buying Cracking the New SAT 2005 from the Princeton Review. It has three complete tests, and the main text provides excellent strategies for attacking questions in math, verbal and writing. With time and practice, you will definitely do very well on the SAT.

Summary: Good, not Great but good
Review: Not the best if you want to score a 1600. It might improve your score from 1100-1300 max.
Pros: Vocabulary, some tips, guessing tips, the format-everything is layed out in such an order that you can finish the book in a 3 days and then highlift key information for future reference
Cons: 93 pages i think are vocabulary of the 250 or so pages which means that a lot of things are not covered with enough detail. Analogies are not covered well at all, critical reading is not so bad. Math section is pretty terrible, especially if you want to score a 1500+
Overall this gets 4 stars: Its funny, its easy to read. It's like a book that you would write yourself, listing all the key tips and facts but lacking a lot of specific details.

Summary: In one word: perfect
Review: Ok, this book is def the best book that I have read regarding the SAT. After I read the book I took a pretty reputable course in my hometown (Houston) only to discover that everything they teach is exactly the same as Up Your Score. Of course, you got to practice using old SAT's and read alot, but doing those things and reading this book gave me a 1590, 800m and 790v. They also try to make what might be a boring subject, studying, funny and entertaining by reminding you that failure to do well on the SAT will result in a college education in the Yukon valley.

Summary: Definately the best how-to SAT book out there!
Review: Save yourself $ and buy this book instead of taking an SAT course. I read it about 5 months before I took the SAT and it still helped me tremendously. It's actually exciting to read, all my friends borrowed it! I got a 1380 first try, a score most of my friends didn't beat despite spending over $1,000 on a Princeton Review course. I plan to reread it before I take the SAT again in April and I'm confident I'll break the 1400 mark! Even if you think you're prepared for the SAT, this is a great resource if only for the fact that it makes studying for the SAT fun. GET THIS BOOK!
