Rating: Summary: This is a great book to read. Review: When God says that he wants that person; then it's their time to go . In this story, Robert Washington was the one that was called that day. He was the captain of the basketball team and the team's best player. Andrew Jackson was a part of that team also and was the best friend of Robert. Andy was driving the car that killed his best friend, and he thinks everything is his fault. Tears Of A Tiger is mainly focusing on the attitude that Andy shows after Robert's death . He wants to be alone and do nothing because of the accident . Andy has the frame of mind that he killed his best friend and he can never forgive himself for the things he has done. He does try to act normal but times are hard and he is young so he can't really deal with it . His girlfriend has tried to do everything to keep his mind off of the accident. He has so much going for himself that he can't deal with the problem that his best friend is no longer with him at the same school or at any place that he goes to. He does not know how to live with himself and ends up killing himself. Sharon Draper really did a good job on this book . She hooks you from the start and makes your read more and more about the book. This book is something very special to all the people who have lost someone very close to them in anyway. James Mcgriff was a really good friend that I lost last year and still think about him everyday . Losing someone that you love can be a very heart breaking thing. Andy has to deal with it and move on with his life as Robert would want him to do, but unfortunately, he can't cope. Sharon Draper said that this book is one of the most special books she has ever written in her career. She was most proud of the way the person came out and just told the story to her and she turned it around and then put it in her words to make it a best seller on her book program . She has had so much success with this book that people are starting to know who she really is. She loves the book and says that if it would happen again, she would write one more.
Rating: Summary: It shows what happens after a friend dies. Review: In Tears of a Tiger, Sharon M. Draper reflects some of the real life problems that a young teenage boy might have to deal with. In the novel, a young man named Andy Jackson was involved in an accident, which ended up taking his best friend1s life because they were drinking and driving. Sharon M. Draper hooks her readers into wanting to read the book by using different types of slang that young adults use today. Andy Jackson was a smart and funny young man. Even though he had these talents, he wasn1t smart enough to avoid that fatal accident on I-75. His family was shocked at what had happened, but who was suffering more, the mother of Robert or Andy? Draper drags the reader into wanting to read the book more. Draper shows the reader what kinds of reactions everyone had to the accident and how they dealt with it. She shows you how Andy went to different places for help, but no one really knew what was really going on in Andy1s head , and how he was feeling inside. The story pace of the book was a fast moving pace. It always kept me going, never wanting to put the book down. I personally recommend this book to any reader that is looking for something to keep them interested in, and who is looking for something different then any other book they have read.
Rating: Summary: I think Tears of a Tiger was a very good book. Review: Tears of a Tiger by Sharon M. Draper was very good. The author gets you really involved as soon as you start reading. At the beginning Andy and his friends go out for a drive, but they were drinking and they get into an accident, which kills Andy1s best friend, Robert Washington. Rob1s feet get trapped in the front window because he had his feet on the dash board. B.J., Tyrone, and Andy try to get him out but they can1t and the car explodes. Andy1s best friend is burned to death and Andy couldn1t do anything about it. This all happens at the beginning of the book which I think is what got me interested in reading more. The main setting was on the highway, Hazellwood High School, Andy1s house and other little places like the movie theaters. The atmosphere was really sad. After that one night Andy1s life changed forever. Throughout the book, Andy felt guilty for killing his best friend, even though it was an accident. Andy starts to have more and more problems every day. Andy starts to see a psychologist. I think this was a good idea. Andy1s friends and family start to believe that Andy is getting better, but they don1t know he is just pretending. They believe he is getting better because he starts to play basketball again, and he is now the captain of the team, his grades start to go up, and he get1s involved in more school activities. He also gets more involved with Keisha ( Keisha is the one that under stands Andy the most. She is always there for Andy when he needs her the most.) Then one night Keisha breaks up with him, and then he starts to get depressed again. He feels like he has nobody to talk to. He feels like his parents pay more attention to his little brother, Monty, than they do to him. He also feels too much guilt to go on living. Andy ends up killing himself. Sharon M. Draper wrote a fantastic book. I think the author1s point in writing this book was to teach us not to drink and drive. This point was made at the beginning of the book, and she was trying to show us the consequences that we would have to go through if we were to drink and drive. She showed this through Andy and what he went through for the rest of his life. This one of the best books I have ever read and I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Young people need to read this book! Review: I loved the set-up of this book. It was a really fast read and has great chapters. This book is a great teaching tool. It is a reality based - not some candy covered stroy about drinking and driving. Young people need to know that this could happen to them!
Rating: Summary: A fatal accident causes anguish and pain in Andrew Jackson. Review: Tears of A Tiger. Review by Shawn Fisher This story by Sharon M. Draper entitled Tears of A Tiger is about a boy named Andrew Jackson who was the driver in an automobile accident that killed one of his teammates. The name of his teammate was Robert Washington. He was not only his teammate, he was his best friend since they were kids. Andy shrieks in pain because he can't deal with the fact that he was the driver in the fatal crash. The pace of this story is just right. It doesn't lose me at any point like most long books do. I understood everything I read. The setting of this book is a normal high school called Hazlewood High. The setting is not outlandish in any way. The atmosphere of this book is very captivating. It makes me feel like I'm watching a movie or an actual play. It gets my imagination going. The characters of this story are well-rounded and they are developed accordingly throughout the book. The story emerges through newspaper articles, journal entries, homework assignments, letters, and conversations that give the book immediacy. The teenage conversations are conemporary and well-written. The writing style of this book focuses more on action because when the accident happened, the author got the point across right away by giving vivid descriptions of what went on. The feeling was pitiful. The ending of the story didn't frustrate me that much because although Andrew ends up taking his own life unexpectedly, most people would say, I expected it to happen because of all the foreshadowing the author used. The only thing that could have been improved upon to me is that the author could have told her readers what became of all the important people in the story, especially Andrew's little brother and his girlfriend Kiesha. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read. Like me, they will never loose interest.

This book is a real page turner as I went through the compashion and struggles of a teen age boy in the book. Not only did this book touch your soul but it made you think about death and all the things that teen's these days actually think about. Being a teen my self I completelly understood what this teenager ( Andy ) was going through. I shared the pain as I read through the pages. The ending was extriemly surprising and unwanting. This book teaches a very valuble lesson. It says to be strong and not let your emocions get to you.
