Summary: Just a slight problem
Review: I don't know about everyone else, but when I put the cd in my computer and went to install the program, not only did the dumb program not realize that I was running above 256 colors (which is what it requires to run), but the program file was infected with W95/CIH.dr, which, on the 26th of any given month, writes over your BIOS, rendering your computer useless, and write over your hard drive as well. Sometimes this is called the Chernoble virus because it often occurs on April 26th...good luck running the cd. I am sure the book is good, but the cd makes it a one star

Summary: Very Good Book
Review: This book is extremely helpful for SAT prep. I bought it along with the 10 real SATs book. Barrons is better, but I wanted more than 5 tests.

Rating: 4 stars

Summary: Incredibly Helpful!
Review: This is the first time I ever used a review book and felt like it really, really helped. Two of my friends who were seniors this year told me they had used it in a course and their instructor had told them it was the best book available. So I tried it. But I used it on my own; I didn't take a course of any kind. Incredible--my SAT scores this May were 330 points higher than my PSAT score. Of course, I was thrilled. The whole book was good---tactics, review, and practice tests--but what I really found amazing were the math tactics. I am NOT a great math student in school, but I learned tricks to do problems that I never would have gotten on my own. My PSAT math score: 470. My SAT math score: 690. You do the math on that one! The book also really helped with my vocab. If you are serious about getting into college and want to really do well on the SAT, GET THIS BOOK!

Summary: Excellent Book but, I found quite a few mistakes
Review: Don't get me wrong, this book is EXTREMELY helpful. It is a bit harder than the real SAT, it has TONS of practice and great strategies. I haven't taken the SATs yet, but I'm sure I'll see results. The only problem, though is that in going through almost every math problem in the book (it's got QUITE A FEW in chapter 12) I must have found about 10 typos/mistakes. This amount is probably 1-2% of the problems, so no biggy. I still regard this book as the best all-purpose SAT guide around.

Summary: Excellent
Review: This book is great for studying for the SAT. It has some good tips and advice for you to boost your score. The practices are thorough and well written. After doing my SAT I felt pretty good. However, I did find that the Math sections in the real SAT were not nearly as difficult as they were in the book. But the Verbal sections in the book were not as difficult as the ones in the real SAT. So just be careful.

Summary: MOST PRACTICE FOR THE BUCK
Review: As an SAT Verbal tutor for over 20 years, my book of choice is Barrons for several reasons. #1- More practice tests than any other book #2- harder than the real test, at least in verbal #3- excellent vocab cards in the back which also serve as a great core vocab for college #4- avoids the weird analogies found in ARCO #5- maybe not as much explaining as Princeton or Kaplan, but TRIPLE the practice -- If you need the explanations, get a combo of the books #6- Follow this book up with the 10 REAL SAT'S and you will see that they are now a piece of cake!! #7- when the students that I coach use this book, they are assured of a verbal point gain anywhere from 100 to 210 points, depending on how much they put into it. There are other reasons for this book to be a master tutor's book of choice, but in the interest of not being too verbose, let me just say "TRY IT!!"

Summary: You're kidding right?
Review: Other books have real test taking techniques. Here are Barrons: Keep track of the time; fill in the answers on your answer sheet (really?); don't make stray pencil marks; read choices before choosing an answer; etc., etc. DUH! The practice tests are ok and helpful, but every book has those. Teach me how to get a good score!!!

Summary: The BEST Test Prep Book
Review: This is it. Studying with this book got me a 1570 on the SAT, compared to my previous score of 1280. That pretty much speaks for itself. If you're willing to work, and you want a good score, get this book.

Summary: This book improved my score 210 points from my PSAT!
Review: I received a copy of this book as a gift and my scores jumped from a 1380 on the PSAT to a 1590 on the SAT! I owe it all to the careful, thoughtful, and insightful ideas of Dr. Ira Wolf. I would never have been as successful as I was without his help. Everyone out there who is looking to improve their scores should follow my example and get some help from the masters.
