Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: You don't have to buy many SAT books Review: If you are going to take the Sat I would only recomend you two books: 1. How to Prepare for the Sat I (Barron's How to Prepare for the Sat I, 21st Ed) 2. 10 Real Sat's from College Board (2nd Edition)The first book will help you too much with vocabulary even though I think that 3000 words are too much too memorize but you'll be able to study from the most important words selection if you don't have enough time. It also have flashcards to play if you want. It is a good book to prepare you for the math section (with every topic you'll have to cover), so I don't think you will have problems with that in the exam if you take a carefully review of the explanation and do all the math problems to practice, It's definitely good at this, the best I think. The problem is the reading part of the test, this book won't help you, thats why you have to study from the 10 real sat's book it will give some important advices and it have more difficult tests in this section. The second book is good but not enough, the 10 real SAT's will help you very much, but in my opinion it's the only good thing it has besides the reading part explanations. The first book has 7 test to improve yourself, I recomend to do one every week, it also have an answer sheet that will explain how to solve every problem and will tell you which chapter you have to study harder. Please don't buy every book you find, you wont cover all of them. These are the only two books you need, I guarantee you a good score.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Excellent! if u want to score 1500 Review: perfect preparation for sat. i got a 1090 in my pre-sat and a 1100 in my 1st SAT. after that i got this book and memorize 3500 vocabs in two and a half months ( trust me if u study everyday it's not hard at all, plus DO NOT get intimidated...alot of the vocabs and it's definition are redundant - what i mean is alot of the definition itself is a vocab in the vocab section ) even i did poorly on the reading, i got a 1380 on the second SAT with a 95 percent on analogies. I'm pretty sure i could get a 1500 or above if i have time to do the reading excercise in the book but i don't. Also the Math section is awesome. i improve my Math score from 660 to 790. now i get into the college that i want. TRUST ME. there is method to increase ur SAT score. all u need is 2 or three months of dedication and pain. also, after knowing the 3500 vocabs from the barron SAT, the analogy section in the college graduate test GRE is simply a piece of cake. SAT is noth but a simple "problem" u just need the "right" formula to solve it. when people show how proud they are with their 1500 SAT... i tell all of u... it's all BS's. they just found the trick and keep it to themselves. By the way, DO NOT get princeton or other books...i looked up many...they are simply useless. rememeber i improve my math from 660 to a 790 and from a 15 precent analogy to a 95 percent. yea i did poorly on reading coz i only got 2 months left for my second SAT and i don't have time to "solve" the "trick" in the reading section. if u know vocab well analogy section is simply "mechanical" which requires no thinking even the dumbest guy in the world could get the points if he knows the vocab. SAT is nth. I hate SAT we all do, but now i've lightened u up witha way to destroy it. i'm pretty stupid by the way...if i can do it. u can.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Misleading... Review: This book is great---if you want information. There are a lot of strategies they give you on math (most of them that you already know, but still helpful). The vocabulary list is fairly long and you won't remember some words unless you have a great memory. The bad part about this is the tests. The math part is hard...which is good, but if you have no experience in taking the SAT or doing any real practice you'll feel intimidated. I used this book and did some of the math, doing worse than usual. Yet on the real SAT, I did much better. Anyway, buy it, it'll raise your score...but it's not the best of the best. I recommend 10 Real SATs over it, but give the book a try.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The best of the SAT-prep book crop Review: I looked at the Princeton Review and Kaplan books, but ended up using this one instead. It doesn't appear any larger on the outside, in terms of book size and paper weight, but there's about three times as much material here as in the Kaplan book. With more practice tests, more extensive discussion and review of math concepts and more vocabulary words and flashcards, this book gives you far and away the most value for your money. After taking the practice tests in this book, and in 10 Real SATs, I got a 1520 on the actual test (V: 800, M: 720). I'm taking the test again this fall, and I'm going to try for that 800 on the math section. This book will certainly be the cornerstone of my continued studies for the test. The only circumstance under which I would recommend primarily using the Kaplan book instead is if you are scoring below 1100 on your initial practice tests... In this case, the Kaplan book will probably help you more, as it covers some general strategies that will help you get your score up into the 1300 range, strategies which this book neglects in favor of more sophisticated material. As always, you'll only get as much out of it as you put in: so use the book regularly, supplement it with outside reading if you have trouble with the verbal section and with extensive problem solving if you have trouble with the math section. But that said, this book provides an excellent foundation for your studies and I highly recommend it.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: 5 stars are not enough! :) Review: Well, Well, Well. This is definitely a "must-have" for anyone who wants to take the SAT and hasn't got a 1600 for the first time. I must admit that I was skeptical that any book could help me prepare for the verbal or math section, but after following all the guidelines in "How to prepare...", I reconsidered my thoughts. I am not a native English speaker, that is why it is hard for me to learn words like "arroyo", but after some practice I found out that studying can be fun and it was largely due to my determination and this book's tips that I almost finished learning them all. I said almost since, apparently, 3 moths allocated to SAT weren't enough - this is where I come to an advice to you, all those wanting to take this test - plan much ahead! I've studied math at a high level, and even now I am majoring in Applied mathematics, but I hadn't even thought about the great tips&tricks I found in this book - "plug-in numbers" is a phrase I will certainly remember for all of my life, and it is a tactic that I've also used in my recently taken test. I won't brag about my scores - I don't know them yet (I've taken the test on the 4th of November). And I don't want to make any assumptions since I've learned that SAT is as unpredictable as an earthquake. There's one thing I can say - this book's tests were harder than the real thing, and they were really helpful! Thank you Sharon Weiner-Green Ira Wolf for such a marvelous job!

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Excellent Value Review: The included flashcards are a great way to learn ~150 obscure but important words. One reviewer vilified the book, claiming the definitions were fallacious. After scrupulous review, I belive his investigation was profoundly perfunctory. Also included are three vocabulary lists totaling 3500 words taken from high school and college literature. If you don't have a year to learn the whole megalist, there are shorter lists of high frequency tested word and high frequency tested key words. One small sobering reality is, however, the 3500 word list doesn't appear to include all of the words given in classic vocabulary building books like "1000 Most Important Words" by Norman W. Shur. There an excellent number verbal and math problems including all the types seen in the SAT. The problems seem very indicative of those on the actual SAT, maybe slightly more difficult which is in contrast to the Barron's SAT II Physics and SAT IIc math books which have practice tests much harder that the real thing. Also included for what they are worth are the test taking strategy tips like all test prep books have. I take these pretty lightly myself.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: GREAT BOOK Review: GREAT BOOK!!!!! It raised my SAT 1 score by 120 points in 3 monthes. I first scored 600 math 480 verbal but after the book I scored 680 math 520 verbal. If you work thouroughly through the book your score will definatly rise. They have helpful flashcards in the back for vocabulary and lots of tactics to help you through the SAT
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The Best! Review: I read the strategies for the verbal section and the basic tactics the day before taking my 2nd SATs and improved 60 points, without even reviewing for 2 hours, I plan on using this book more indepth in the future because if it raised my 60 points in 2 hours who knows what two months can do.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Absolutely the best Review: I got 800 on verbal and 790 on the math, and was nominated for the The United States Presidential Scholars Program (http://www.presidentialscholars.org/) and for the Washington State Promise scholarship on the basis of this score. There is only 1 book I will credit for my success -- Barrons! It provides awesome explanations for each type of question, a LOT of practice questions and tests. The tests are far more difficult than the actual SAT, but enough practice on the Barrons' tests will make the actual SAT seem EASY!! 5/5.
