Summary: My Review (Original isn't it?)
Review: In Lois Lowry's THE GIVER, the main character Jona, lives in a ficticious community sometime in the future. His world revoloves around around the principle of "sameness." Everything is perfect. Unlike the real world today, in Jona's world there is no conflict, no unemployment, no poverty, no divorce, but most importantly, there is no change. Everyone in Jona's world has been sheltered from the past, sheltered from the memories of past pains and misfortunes. The only person in the community that knows the truth is the Giver. In December, during the Ceremony of Tweleve, Jona is given the highest honor, and a lifelong assignment to be the new Giver. Before he can step into his job full swing though, he must learn some valuable lessons from the old Giver. Through those teaching, Jona becomes the recipricant of all the memories, and learns the true hipocracy of the world which surrounds him. On a more personal note, I would just like to say that this is a fabulous book. It really makes you value the world in which you live in, and makes you cherish your ability to make your own decisions and have your own emotions.

Summary: "Utopia"
Review: In Lowry's book you are transported to a place devoid of emotion; a place where there are no past mistakes to look back and learn from. That is unless you are "The Reciever of Memory." In the socieyt where our main character, Jonas, lives there is only one person who carries all of the memories for the entire society. This method is used to shelter the society from uneccessary problems such as bad weather, love, and pain. The idea works except one person must hold the burden for everyone.

In her book Lowry's provides detailed descriptions of such complicated emotions as anger, grief, and true happiness so that you can experience them yourself. The book is not purely for entertainment value, it definitely will evoke some serious thinking. By the end of this novel it is guaranteed you will feel everything Jonas has been through.

Summary: Review for The Giver
Review: In my opinion I would give The Giver 3 stars, because the book was only okay. It was a little boring, but I liked the part when he was learning to become the Receiver. The end of the book didn't have enough detail to attratct my attention.
I think the best part about The Giver was hoe they were similar. It taught me how lucky I am to be capable of making my own decisions. I think their world was too complicated to understand sometimes... Other than some of those things I would say The Giver was a pretty interesting book.

Summary: Nothing is real, everything is under control
Review: In my opinion the book is a goodchoice for pupils. The content is about a group of people who are under the power of the "Elders".They haven't got any possibility to choose for example the work they want to. The book reminded me of the movie "Matrix", no one's free and people see and think only what others make or allow them to see and think. Everyone has a purpose you can't change. It's most interesting for pupils because it's written in a simple way, but also good for adults.

Summary: THE GIVER
Review: In my opinion the novel "The Giver" by Lois Lowry has a fantastic content.
The novel is about a twelve-year-old boy Jonas, who lives in a strange community.
In this community there're several ceremonies, which icluded different advantages.

I'm really fascinated by the secrets in the "perfect" community that you can find out if you read this book.

Summary: Amazing book
Review: In my opinion the story of the book was very nice to read because I, as a non-native speaker, could read it very easily. It isn't written in a very complicated way so it could be perfectly used for our Enlgish lessons.
An interesting and exciting science-fiction story about a totaliterian system which a young boy tries to chance. It tells us about a journey through a world that is completely different to ours.

Summary: Good Book Ok ending
Review: In my opinion this was a very good book. I think that the author had to put a lot of time and effort into writing this book so she could make yet another top seller. She had very good details and descriptions of what life must have been like for Jonas. She had a good way of telling how the memories made the beholder feel. This is what I like about the book.

In a less positive not I think that because this was such a detailed and descriptive book the author just go tired of it. But to get to the point there could have been a better ending. I think that a sequel would have been too much, but at the same time maybe 10 extra pages woundn't have hurt. But in the end I think this was a very good book and had to have taken a lot of time and effort to write so I have to give her credit there.

Summary: Communism to the extreme
Review: In my opinion, "The Giver" was an excellent book. It dealt with a future that is both frightening in its reality and illuminating in the way their society is run. Dealing with the story of a growing boy who is about to face his life's job for the first time, Jonas is chosen for the most respected job. He is the Receiver of Memories, who remembers everything of the history of the race so that the general public doesn't have to. They live in a world without color, emotion, or choice of any kind - they are even given pills to prevent sexual urges. Lois Lowry combines the idea of communism to the extreme with the idea that even a twelve-year-old child can change society if he so chooses in a story that makes you appreciate how horrible a life like that could be in comparison to all of the choices we make today.

Summary: The Giver, by Lois Lowry
Review: In my opinion, The Giver is an excellent book. Why I feel this way is because it opened a whole new world for me, and my seventh grade class. This book made me think of how lucky I am to have things that the characters in the book didn't have. I think that everyone should try to read such a great book like this one to realize that some of us in this world have it good. I like how she made the ending like a fork in the road......you never know what your in for!

Summary: A Classic of the Genre
Review: In my opinion, the Giver, by Lois Lowry, can be compared to such great works of literature as 1984, or Fahreinhheit 451. I feel that it is a classic of the genre, or someday will be. It is a remarkable book, and it deserves much praise.
