Summary: A Book that makes you ponder....
Review: I really think this book is one of the finest Lois Lowery has written. She is an unbelieveable author who really puts it all into her work....you can tell. This book was read to me in 5th grade by my teacher and I have fallen in love with it. And no, my teenage mind is not corrupt from " An adult book disguised as a children's book" ( as in a previous review) I could handle the subjects in this book when I was 10, and I think this book has made me realize how lucky we all are, and what we have that makes this world so special. True, it's a little boring at the beginng (I'll admit to that- I would fall asleep with my head on the desk), but believe me, the reward of a good book you can't stand to put down is worth waiting for.

Summary: awsome!
Review: I really think this book was great because it made me thinkthat maybe very far away that there might just be a utopia somewhere. When I was reading the book I could see pictures in my head that what Jonas might look like or what father and mother might of looked like to. The author really explains things like what emotions are felt and even the objects that are held he explains them to the fullest. Like I said that it made me think alote about life without any memories of love hate or even felling of family to me I think that would be really hard to live without. What I really would hat is not picking what kind of job you would have also not having feelings for other people. I really liked the ending but lucky for you your just going to read it yourself. Oh and one more thing have fun.

Summary: My Review
Review: I realy enjoyed reading this book. It started off a bit confusing but as the story progressed, everthing began to fall into place and make sense. This was one of those books that keeps you thinking about it for several days after you read it. It involves a way of life unimaginable to the standard person and really presesnt the question "what if..." I would recommend this book to younger readers with an imagination.

Summary: A Frightening Future
Review: I realy enjoyed The Giver by Lois Lowry. It was very interesting. It's about a boy named Jonas who is eleven years old.
He will soon be twelve. Jonas is going to be in the ceremeny of the twelves. That is when you are given a job in the community. Jonas gets picked as The Giver. The Giver has memories of the past that no one else has. But will Jonas be able to except the memories? You will have to read The Giver to find out.

Summary: A Strange Job in a Strange World, but a Great Book.
Review: I reccomend this book for the most part, however, it is kind of hard to understand this world until you really get into the book. Nevertheless, it is, no doubt, a good book in the long run. I enjoyed reading it and reccomended it to almost all of my friends, who reccomended it to a bunch of their friends, too! It is pretty neat how Lois Lowry invented this world; I don't think I could've ever thought of something like this! It is amazing!

Summary: a truely wonderful book...
Review: I recently read The Giver and i thought it was a wonderful book. I liked it because it was truley original and really made you think about things you might never have thought about before. Like, what it would be like to live in a Utopia-like world. Also, it really illistrates how nothing can be perfect--even such a seemingly perfect community has it's faults.

Summary: The Giver Review
Review: I recently read The Giver in class. I personally didn't enjoy it. I thought Lous Lowery didn't do a good job of sticking to her story line. In some parts of the book she would say one thing the community did then the next chapter she would say something tatally opposite making the book not flow and make sense. Ialso thought the ending was to sudden and didn't answer any questions i had.

Summary: Not just for young readers.
Review: I recently was required to read The Giver during a college course and was surprised to learn that it was a children's book (thank you Dr. Homan!). It deals with issues that not only a child can relate to but also many issues for adults as well. It sparked many heated debates during class discussion as well as enabling us to look inside ourselves to find a greater good. In many ways it is a "Big Brother" that children can relate to.

Summary: lessons
Review: I recently wrote an essay on this book. My topic was about how there can never be a perfect society. Our society today isn't great but if we force away the bad things then the good things will go with it. Just like in the Giver. This bookgoes very deep and I would not recommend it to anyone under 8th or 9th grade. this book is really an adult book written so that a 5th grader could read it.(despite the newberry) This is a really meaningfull book and I like it very much.
