Summary: Enjoyable
Review: I had to read this book for school, it was the 1st school book i enjoyed reading. It is a bit complicated and kinda leaves you hangin but i recommend it.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Interesting
Review: I had to read this book for school, so maybe that tainted my judgement, but I thought it was good none the less. It was kind of weird, and the end wasn't as satisfying as I would have liked. It was one of those books that you think about more everytime you read them. If you are looking for an quicker read than Harry Potter, then read this.

Summary: This is a great book!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: I had to read this book for school. What I expected was a dull and boring book but, what I got is much different. I've never read a book like this before. When you start reading it the author slowlys starts to draw a picture of what this place is like and made me wonder is this what could happpen in the future? It isn't such a bad idea in someways. But, I not saying I would want this to happen. After reading this book is still making me think. I think if your taking this much to read these reviews you should read the book.

Summary: Releasing is not always positive
Review: I had to read this book for school.Exactlly I had to read it for the subject english. First it was a big problem to understand the text, because my english is not the best. But under hard work I tried to understand everything. Now I am glad that I have worked as hard as I did. The Book is really a exciting. It is a very interesting thought of future. Furthermore the book stimulates to think about life in our world, about life in future and I thought very much about communism, beause of the sameness in the book. But I give "The Giver" only 4 stars because of the end. The book ends very suddenly. You get the empression that Louis Lowry wanted to end the book very fast. General: It is a good book and if you want to understand my topic you should read the book :-)

Summary: BORING
Review: I had to read this book in my english lessons!
My opinion of this book is that it is very boring because many parts are difficult to read (IÂ'm from Germany)!
There is no action in this book! The topic is very interesting but its too short and there are not enough descriptions about the community and there history!
The Open-end is a big mistake. I want to know how does the story ends!
An other penalty point is that the story is written in a long-winded way.
This book could be better.

Summary: a very good book
Review: I had to read this book in school and it was one of the few books that I actually enjoyed. Another job well done by Lois Lowry.

Summary: Mandi's Thoughts: The Giver
Review: I had to read this novel for my Pre- AP Lang. class. It was an ok book but sometimes it was boring maybe it's because I like action. Well it's got a nice ending anyway! Hope you will enjoy The Giver. Keep Reading - Mandi :)

Summary: This book absolutely stinks!!!!!!!
Review: I HATED THIS BOOK!!! When I was in fifth grade, my teacher read this book to us, and I didn't like it then. Now, as a sixth grader going into seventh, I had to read it again for summer reading. I thought reading it again would help me like it better, but I still dislike it now. I reccomend this book to NO ONE, unless you want to be bored out of your minds. And if you have to read it for school, like me, get it from the library. Don't waste your money on this book.

Summary: The Giver
Review: I hated this book. It was really stupid. It had no point, and come on a world with no choice, color, and pain. It is totally unrealistic. I gave it one star. Nobody in the community has memories except the Receiver of Memory. I did not like it because I don like books that are stupid.

Summary: An intriguing, emotional trip you will never forget!
Review: I have always enjoyed the books we read in class, a bit more than the others. I would recieve it and have the first five chapters done by the next day. But this book wowed me. I had finished by the time the rest were reading the first chapter. It tells the tale of life how so many of us wish it were like: perfect; no crime, no poverty. No sadness. Before reading it, our teacher asked us to describe our idea of a utopia in a paragraph. Everyone wrote of a crime and poverty free world (and of course there was the occasional mountain of icecream). Then she told us, what if you had to sacrifice something in return? Such as emotion? We didn't know how to return her question. Emotions are a wonderful thing that we have, but still... This book involves a world in which no one knows love, but lives without hate. When Jonas, a 12 year old boy is given the memories of when life wasn't so perfect, he decides to the fate of his world into his hands. A thrilling adventure that will leave your heart aching.
