Summary: to those who like science fiction
Review: I found "the Giver" most time exciting and I can recommend it to all those, who like science fiction, like I do.
In the beginning it seemed to be very odd to me, because of the strange rules like evening-telling, but you'll notice soon that this story plays in another world. It's exciting to imagine a world without colors, feelings, animals and own decisions.
One can very good identify with Jonas, an 11-year old boy who'll turn 12 and who'll get his assignment to bear the burden of his whole Community.
I didn't like the open end and I would have liked it if I had got more information about the Elsewhere. There are a lot of questions which are not answered to me, but all in all I liked it much.

Summary: Oh, my goodness. Wow!
Review: I found a copy of this book last night in some of my mother's teaching supplies. (She taught gifted and talented 5th grade for many years.) On a whim, I opened it and began reading. 70 minutes later, I was in the exact same position I started in, in tears and completely stunned. I devoured this book in a little more than an hour and immediately gave it to my ten-year-old daughter. I told her it was excellent and I thought she would enjoy it. She began it immediately and is probably reading it in class right now when she's supposed to be doing her work. I have no words to describe this amazing work. Lois Lowry never fails to touch me deeply!

Summary: the giver review by:Cory Charlton
Review: I found that The Giver quite amusing. The Giver is about a community not an ordinary community this community is so called perfect. This book is about a kid named Jonas.(Every year they have an assembly and all of the people(s) birthdays are all on the same day.)This last assembly Jonas received a job Jonas had been selected.

Jonas is a very important person in this book. I really liked the book except for the end because it really stumped me did he die ?, or did he live? If you want to red this phenomenal book that is rated to all ages than I guess this book is the book.I found this book the best I ever read. I rate this 4.75 stars.

Summary: give the Giver
Review: I found that the Giver was an excellent past time reader. I enjoyed it and would recomend it to any person who loves a little sci-fi.

Summary: Good book but some may find the aspect of "release" disturbi
Review: I found the book The Giver to be a fairly good book, but found that some may find the aspect of "release" disturbing especially once they found out it involved the killing, dispatching or execution of infants, the elderly, and the innocent and guilty alike. I am sure everyone has their own idea of an "ideal world" and I could bet most would view that a real utopia allowed the people within more freedom of decision and action.

Summary: This is a Great Book
Review: I found the Giver a very interesting book. It really made me think about what life would be like in a world where everyone is the same. It's a great discussion book, and I really reccomend it for people who need a good read.

Summary: An Excellent Selection
Review: I found The Giver to be a shockingly realistic portrayal of what a conformist future may be like. Everything and everyone is the same, and variation is rare if it exists at all. It is here we find Jonas, a 11 year old boy about to turn 12.

When a person comes of age at 12, they are assigned a job to do for the rest of their life. Because of this, I thought that the book may have had communist undertones. More in the sense of a Utopian communism than a communism in reality. Everyone is the same, and has the same things. The world is ideal. There is no pain, suffering, war, or grief.

I feel that The Giver flawlessly depicts the struggle of an individual in a society that is unwilling to change. Jonas is forced to deal with how he feels, and the knowledge he is different from everyone else. I found the plainess of the other characters to be an excellent foil for Jonas's differences.

The book leads to a stunning conclusion I found to be a perfect ending to the story.

Summary: The Giver is a very satisfying book
Review: I found The Giver to be an extremely satisfying book for several reasons. Firstly, it wasn't a long and boring story. It was easy to read and "flowed" rather well. Plus, there was enough actions or situations to keep you interested through the books entirety. Also, the words used were very easy to comprehend. It is quiet clear that Lowry wrote the book not for "prestige," but for the purpose of conveying a message. Secondly, the story's plot was very interesting. It addressed several points about society, or concepts that I find myself contemplating at times. After reading this book I came to the realization that there probably is no perfect society, there will be some flaws in every situation. The story also made me appreciate certain things such as emotions, individuality, and the freedom to make my own decisions. It also makes me realize that rules are made to protect, but can easily take away peoples rights when over-used. Over-all, I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys thinking, and has just a few hours to spare. Lowry obviously followed the famous old saying, "keep it short and sweet!"

Summary: The Giver is worthwhile for someone of any age to read
Review: I found The Giver to be an interesting book. Lowry did an excellent job presenting concepts that I found hard to grasp, such as not having color. I was impressed with the creativity that she showed and her ability to create an entire fictional community. Lowry deserves all due respect for being able to continuously write about that community and not once contradict herself. The Giver is a book that I believe is suitable for all ages and I highly recomend it to anyone.
