Summary: It's a good book about a utopian society.
Review: I feel this book is very interesting. You can't get bored of it, not even if you read it many times. It shows you a perfect community probably in the future. Once you start reading it you can't stop. This book is so interesting because it has adventure and surprising scenes. It has a very surprising ending wich will leave you stunned. I sort of liked the ending. I liked the way the author describes everything with lots of details, and it's really fun.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A great book that makes you think about a perfect future
Review: I felt that it was a cool book and was very creative. I now feel that I can appreciate my life more, because I know how much worse it could be. I liked it becasue it was original and now I know how bad our past and present are very painful and this is going to effect our future generations. It taught me that we should try to make our environment a better place for us and the people of the next generation. I alos liked the ending because it left you hanging. Some people don't appreciate that, but I do because it can leave the rest to your imagination.

Summary: What the Giver gives you.
Review: I felt that the Giver was a good book that showed kids the importance of emotions and their historical backround. I enjoyed the easy reading of Lowry's novel because I was never lost in it. It was also cool that the book took place in some "other" world that isn't like ours.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A surprisingly good tale... even for a kids book.
Review: I find that even though The Giver was writen for a younger audience, it was very good. It shows you just how lucky you really are, in a world of freedom and choices. One of the better books I have read.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: amusing
Review: I find the book OK: The book is written in an understandable language. The topik of the book is interessting. But I dislike the open-end, because some questions aren't still answered.

I like the book and I think it is very interesting. If you know the content it is very simple to understand. I didn't like the open-end.It is a actuell novel which is written in a easy way.

Summary: This is the best book I've ever read !!!
Review: I first heard about "The Giver" when we read it at school. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves to read!!!

Summary: I couldn't put it down!
Review: I first heard this book when my teacher read it to the class. I found it to be >THE< best book I have ever read. I first hear of how good the community in this book is,but I become shocked by the freedoms denied to it's people. When Jonas finds out, he feels as if the life he had experienced was just a lie. When he decides to leave, he takes a young baby named Gabriel with him. Going on a long journey filled with never-ending pain. Yet, at the last parts he feels the best joys he has ever experienced.

Summary: Depth at a pre-teen level....
Review: I first read "The Giver" when I was in the 6th grade (I'm now a senior in High School) and the book only gets better every time I read it. I have read many other books concerning the issue of ideal and Utopian societies. These books are very deep and often disturbing. "The Giver" touches on these issues but in a very chilish and delicate manner which makes it perfect for young children to read. It mildly exposes them to the idea that society cannot be perfect and that the more perfection a government strives for, the less privelaged its citizens become. I can personally say that "The Giver" gave me my first real sense of pride in my country and the rights and liberties it grants me simply for living on its grounds. The story also provoked my first thoughts of appreciation of life in general. Although my senses of pride and appreciation have grown much more since the 6th grade, "The Giver" was a thought-provoking and inspirational introduction to the adult world I was soon to face. It is, by far, one of my favorite novellas ever (and I have read many). I would highly reccommend it to anyone.

Summary: this is my favorite book
Review: I first read The Giver when it came out in hard back, I was in the seventh grade and my teacher lent it to me. I had read many of Lois Lowry's books before, but I was completely unprepared for how wonderful this book was. When I finished I turned immediately to the first page and re-read it. I recieved my own copy as a present soon after, and I have read it more times than I can remember. This is a book for everyone. My mother and her reading group also read it and loved it. I gave it to my history teacher for Christmas, and she read it in one sitting. It is my favorite book, even after 6 years, and I would recommend it to anyone, young or old.
