Summary: A Wonderful gift!
Review: I absolutely loved this book! i haven't read anything by Lois Lowry since i was a pre-teen and i am so glad to have revisited her! This is a phenominal story of a boy's journey and growth. In a community based on sameness he has the courage to break free and make a difference, although he has to abandon everything he has ever known. it's amazing, it appealed to my science-fiction side as well as the side that loves a good, interesting story about humanity. The book isn't a lesson, it's a journey... almost like the memories the protagonist receives. This is must read, contemporary classic, if there is such a catagory! Enjoy. (PS- does anyone know if there is a sequel?)

Summary: This was the BEST book!
Review: I absolutely LOVED this book! I'd give it more stars if I could! The ending is totally unique, but it's just perfect. I wouldn't change a word of it. A different ending would destroy the book.

Summary: I loved this Book!!!!!
Review: I absolutely loved this book. It gave me a view I had never seen before, that maybe perfection wouldn't be so great. I realize now that differences are wonderful. At first I thought I would hate it, but then I read it for school and loved it. Thank you Lois Lowry!

Summary: Buy This Book For Your Child or Yourself!!!!!!

Summary: I agree with dev patel
Review: I agree with this review because Dev Patel (the reviewer) says The Giver is a good book to read for adults and young adults. She says the book makes you think and it points out the problems in a utopian society. The government is always watching and the people are at one constant emotional level. The book helps people understand what is to live in a ¡§perfect¡¨ society, and why we don¡¦t. In the community the people feel no pain or emotion, and when they do they have to take pills to stop them. The Giver is a book for people who enjoy reading books that give you a new perspective. I give the book a
four out of five.

Summary: I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!! by: Grace D.
Review: I always heard all my friends talking about how amazing this book was, but I had to see for myself. They were right! The Giver was a great book that showed what love and pain are really about. It also shows how scary a world of perfection can be.

The Giver is basically about a young Twelve named Jonas who lived in a community of perfection. No one is poor and no one argues, and there is no color. Everyoen gets everything at the exact same time. Whether its a bike at Seven, or a job at Twelve. Everyone has different jobs that are assigned to them. Jonas is assigned to the most important job in his community. He is the new Receiver of Memory. Jonas must deal with all of the things the community has chosen not to live with. Such as: love, pain, color, sunshine, or snow.

Jonas must be put through physical and emotional pain to receive all of these horrible things like poverty and illness that their cmmunity does not want. Lois Lowry wrote this book EXTREMELY well, and I would recommend this to any reader looking for a book that really makes you think.

Summary: A truly unforgetable novel with a captivating theme
Review: I am 12 years old and simply love "The Giver". I began reading the book as a leasure activity before my amazing teacher decided to do a unit on the book by reading it aloud to the class. I admit, it was even better the 2nd time around! [if possible] I began my book report on the book with the simple scentance: "Jonas lived in a world without choices. A celestial community, a utopian society." My report went on including the basic plot about how after the ceremony of 12, Jonas discovers that he is different from the others in his community and how he began his training with the Giver. Anyways, I won't go on because there is soooo much in this book that I cannot fit into 1,000 words. So all in all, I am simply agog by the content of "The Giver" and thuroughly congratulate Ms. Lowry's fine work.

Summary: A great book for all!
Review: I am 13 years old. I loved the book. I dont read books for pleasure. I read them because I have to, but if I knew how good this bood was going to be I would not have been forced to read it. Instead I would have read on my own, for pleasure.

Summary: My favorite book, STILL!
Review: I am 15 years old and I read the giver when I was 11. It remains my favorite book, and sometimes, I just read sections of it now, because I love it so much! It is an example of how Lois Lowry "thinks outside of the box". It is creative and thought provoking and definately a must read.

Summary: VERY INTERESTING!!! HARD TO PUT DOWN!!!
Review: I am 15 years old, and just finished reading this book in my class. I first read this book when I was in fourth grade. I can tell you now that this book isn't for anyone younger than myself. It contains very graphic scenes, and adult themes. I believe this book was written for all those people who criticize our world, they say that there is too much violence, hatred, and racism. After they read this book I promise that they will realize that the perfect society, a utopian society isn't what it seems to be, and that we are lucky with the world that we live in. I enjoyed this book very much, and I hope all of those who read will enjoy it to.
