Summary: A reader from North Carolina
Review: Whrn I first read this book in the 8th grade, I thought that it had no point, and was the worst book in the world because it didn't make any sense, but now my opinon is different. Recently I pick up a copy of The Giver and read it front to back. My opinion now is totally different from when I read it last. I now relized that this book did apply to our lives and it was very real. I suppose as you grow older you get a new or bigger perspective on things and the society that you are a part of is one of those things. The Giver is an awesome book, it is well written and can be enjoyed by everyone. If at first you don't enjoy it, then put it down and read it later. Circumsanctances in your life will change your view on this book.

Summary: Why I like the The Giver
Review: Why I liked The Giver.

The story was fiction and I like fiction stroies. When I first read it was like I was reading about a new culture that was just discovered. In class we compared the book on how there culture was different from ours. The book was very interesting because every night when I read the book it got more interesting by the mintue. Some parts of the story was confusing, sad and good. Unlike Park's Quest which was very confusing The Giver was more exciting and scary. I would recommand reading this book.

Summary: A modern children's version of 1984...
Review: With her masterpiece "The Giver", Lois Lowry creates a riveting tale about a nightmarish world. The central character is a young boy named Jonas. In his world, there is no war or fear or pain or color of any sort. Upon reaching a certain age, each person is assigned a role or a duty in the community. The role Jonas is assigned requires that he receive special training from "the giver". The Giver is the only member of the community who contains memories of true pain and pleasure, and he must pass them on to Jonas...

Although it may seem cliched, a rip-off of so many sci-fi stories of dystopian worlds, "The Giver" separates itself from the pack. This is a book that transcends generations of readers, so that grandparent and grandchild alike can find enjoyment in its pages. And perhaps along the way we will learn something about the joys of life and individuality. Highly recommended.

Summary: The Giver in Review
Review: Would you like to live in a "Perfect" community where every family is the same? Well in the book The Giver that's practically how it is. Jonas, the main character, lives in a community like this. Jonas is eleven and every year all the kids that are eleven turning twelve get their assignment or job at a ceremony held in December. It is time for the ceremony and Jonas will be getting his assignment and he can't wait. He doesn't know what his assignment will be, but he hopes for it to be something important and fits him well. This book is something you should really take time to read because it is interesting and enjoyable.
The book The Giver is very interesting. One part of the book that shows this is when Jonas has his weird dream and his mom said it was his first stirrings. Another interesting point in the book is when Jonas is at the ceremony where he will find out what his assigment will be and it is very suspensful.
This book is also enjoyable. One enjoyable part is when they share their dreams each morning from the night before. Also it was enjoyable how Jonas helped out at different places like the house of the old as volunteer work.
The best age for this book is probably about ten to eighteen. This is because there are some parts and some words that younger children wouldn't understand. This book might be boring for older people but some still might enjoy it.
You should really use your free time wisely and read this book The Giver because it is very interesting and also enjoyable.

Summary: this was very good
Review: wow! i read the book a couple of weeks ago in American Lang. (I'm foreign exchange from America, I'm not British) everyone was puzzled at the end. i knew about it from reading it in fourth grade, and i'm in seventh, and it still carries me from day to day. this is the kind of book that needs to be made into a movie, but that might destroy it. the key idea would be for Lois to come on set, design the ideas, the buildings, everything, so nothing is wrecked. but that it isfar to hard sometimes, i know. i can't even capatialize, i loved this book so much! this book is the kind that leaves you dreaming of the possibilities, and a sequel might ruin it's glory as a creative tool in Lang. this is a good recomendation for teachers who want to reach people my age, because it traps you inside. some of the girl at my US school never read, besides zines, and they loved the book so much, they even borrowed a copy over night to get far into the book for the next day! check this book out, you won't regret it.

Summary: All I Can Say is WOW!
Review: WOW! Part of the (...) reading curriculum is to read THE GIVER. At first, I though it would be really stupid and boring. Our teacher said to start reading it and stop around the second chapter. I did something very naughty. I kept on reading. I went home and finished the book. I feel very guilty for doing that, but hey, it is a really good book and it's not my fault i can't put it down!!

This book is about a boy naped Jonas. He lives in a world where there are rules for everything. There is no such thing as love. Everything is the same. People don't see colors. They don't even know what SNOW is!!

When the Ceremony of Twelve takes place, he is selected to become the Receiver for Memories. He receives memories from the former receiver, The Giver. Jonas holds the memories of the pain and pleasure of life. The secrets that no one but him and The Giver know.

I found sadness in this book. I found the pleasure in this book. I felt the pain from this book. I could not put this book down. I recommend it to you. Read it!!!!!!!

Summary: Kudos, Lois, because this is my favorite book of all time!!
Review: Wow. Where do I begin describing a story as gripping and well written as Lowry's "The Giver"? As you already know, this is my favorite book. I just read it a few months ago and finished it in three days flat. I would have finished it sooner, but unfortunately, I didn't have every free moment to read. I dont't care what anyone says about the ending...it was great. Besides, with all this praise, I expect Lowry will write a sequel. I hope. I also reccomended this book to my mother, and she found it as enjoyable as I did. Please buy this book. Even though some classify it as sci-fi, I classify it as a novel reaching into a human soul, and pulling out real emotions in a world oblivious to feelings. Don't let this book pass you by.

Summary: To the people that complained about its ending...
Review: write your own, then! I did. THE GIVER is an amazing book. It starts off pretty slow, but it picks up fast. The community's style of happiness was like Camazotz in A WRINKLE IN TIME (nice looking, but fake.) I mean, they kill criminals, old people and slow-learning babies. Who in their right mind could do that? And no color. That is bad. Jonas's memories are shockingly well-written. They remind me of Jessie's views of the 20th century in RUNNING OUT OF TIME. Three words: Read this book. If you don't, you might as well be living in that community.
