Summary: The Giver in flight
Review: This is a world that is dark and gray where everyone is prescribed a job in life, and there is no sound, no color, and no music. Jonas, a twelve year old boy, has been chosen to do an important job. He is to become the receiver of memories. The Giver, the man in the community who has received all the memories, is to be his teacher. There were different jobs, such as the caretaker, and the assistant directer of recreation. People receive their job at the annual cemermony. Jonas has been chosen to be the receiver, the most impotant job. In my opinion it's quite great in the middle of the book. The author uses good desciptions. This is one of those science fictions or fantasy books, that I would recommend to readers that are in sixth grade to people that are sixty. I rated the book four stars because of the way the author is saying what she's saying. That is that this world we live in shouldn't ever be like this.

Summary: The Book by which all others should be measured
Review: This is absolutely, without a doubt the BEST book I have ever read. And though I may be young, I have read quite a few books, some truly atrocious ones, to tell the truth. Fortunately, for whoever is interested in knowing about this book's integrity or quality The Giver does not fit in the above category at all. I first read this book at the age of ten and I'm a bit ashamed to admit that I was one of the deluted people who tried to have it banned from class, mostly because of one particularly descriptive and unsavory passage that was far too advanced for me at that age. But ever since then, something about that book has haunted me until last year, when I picked up a copy at a used book store. It was only a matter of hours before I finished the book for the second time and felt the greatest sense of accomplishment at having finally grasped the story's universally appealing message. Let me just tell you this, if you read one book in the remainder of this summer, make sure it's this one. And definitely recommend it to your friends and be sure to have your children read it. In conclusion, this is a fantastic book that will continue to influence your opinion of all books prior to and following your reading of it.

Summary: A Different Culture Than Ours
Review: This is an adventurous and interesting book. This book is about a unique and different society that humans have never adapted to and will never adapt to. I thought this book was interesting and different than others that I have read in the past few years. I feel that this book should at least be put into some libraries around America.

Summary: Review of Giver
Review: This is an amazing story of a world in "sameness". Jonas thinks about why and how things work, and tries to understand it all. They way that Jonas slowly discovers things that we normally take for granted, i.e.: color, hills/valleys, sunlight, and smell, its all very thrilling and exciting. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good adventure, or to someone who likes to read about heroes. Jonas definitely has an act of heroism.

Summary: Outstanding piece of work!
Review: This is an excellent book that pictures another side to our world. I'm glad schools are letting students read the book because it's a great way to interpret life. I recommend this book to everyone!

Review: This is an excellent book. Lois Lowry fully and accurately describes the society with rich, pertinent detail. A must-read for any middle school student!

Summary: The BEST book ever!
Review: This is an exciting book! It tells what seems that Lois Lowry thinks might be the future! It is like when there is no color, no music, no wars/battles, you never get hurt...it is like a totally different world! You live in a dwelling with a mother who isn't your birthmother, a father that was assigned to you "mother" and a sibling of a different gender. It is so exciting! Jonas (a boy who is curious about OUR world) gets assigned to one of the hraddest and MOST important jobs in the whole community. The book is a huge adventure and has a wonderful ending! This book was probably the best book I have ever read and best I will ever read!!!

Summary: this book was a real chiller
Review: this is an utterly cold novel about social acceptance and what it means to be socialy unacceptable

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A wonderful story
Review: This is definetely a psicilogical thriller. It toys with the thought of how low humans will go to escaoe what they thought was an even lower future. This is definetly one of the best books I have ever read.
