Rating: Summary: Creative and Outstanding! Review: This Book was probably my all time favorite! Very intriguing! The Giver plays with your imagination and fondles with reality. Louis Lowry is an excellent role model for young inspiring writers! A supurb book choice for all ages! It is so amazingly well written, so thought provoking! It is imaginitive and creative! A masterpiece! Read this book and you won't regret it. You really attach to the characters. Lowry really knows how to pull emotional strings. This book is a triumph! It was a joy to read!
Rating: Summary: ThE gIvEr Review: This book was read in our English class, and I fully enjoyed it. Lois Lowry is an amazing author, and her story of The Giver, kept all our attention. The way she wrote of the future is unbelievable. Jonas' world was perfect until he became The Receiver. Then he learned of pain and war. Although many people are not sure what happened to Jonas at the end and have some "unanswered questions" I believe that Jonas and Gabriel died. When they are on the sled they talk about Elsewhere and they become warm and joyful. This is a wondeful book, though, that EVERYONE should read.
Rating: Summary: Awesome! Review: This book was really awesome! It is a stunning story that leaves you enriched and curious of your surroundings. This book tells about a boy that faces his future. When he finds out what he must go through, he is unsure and not confident at all. Read this book to see how he resolves his problems!
Rating: Summary: This book was fantastic!!!!! Review: This book was really great because it showed me a whole new world of rules. I also liked it because it had a totally new way of life in it. I just couldn't put it down. Read it and you will find that it is great.
Rating: Summary: The perfect community Review: This book was the best book I ever read it was odd and weardbut I caught on to it the book has good grammer it also hasdetail. The main character is Jonas, the Giver is the character that has feeling's and the other people that live in the community. The author then talk's about how perfect they are in the community, but Jonas find's something what happens even though nothing seem's wrong in the perfect community because they have no feeling's. In this book it tell's you everything that it need's to tell well thats pretty much how it goes.
Rating: Summary: Awesome Book! Review: This book was the best. I especially liked how it really got you thinking on whether or not this could happen in real life. If you have Fahrenheit 451 then I would suggest reading this book. You'll love it.
Rating: Summary: Creative book for young minds to see what free life we live Review: This book was the book to get me to start reading. Once I got past the... different cover, I realized what a beautiful book it truly was. The book itself told of a life of a young boy that loved his life but didn't know what he was missing... or what people were hiding from him. When I had finished reading the book I thought -What a wonderful ending- because that's just what it was. Some authors leave details out, leave strings hanging, not tied into a knot, but Lois Lowery tied them tight with a shiny red ribbon. Highly reccommended for people just starting to read
Rating: Summary: THIS IS THE MOST OUTSTANDING BOOK I HAVE EVER READ!!!!!!!!!! Review: THIS BOOK WAS UNDESCRIBABLE.IT WAS SO AMAZING HOW THE AUTHOR WROTE THIS. JONAS LIVES IN A PERFECT WORLD, NO CRIME,VIOLENCE,EVERYTHING IS ORDERLY, NO POVERTY, AND EVERYONE HAS A JOB. AFTER JONAS GETS ASSIGNED THE RECEIVER HE REALIZES ALL OF THE JOY AND HAPPINESS HIS COMMUNITY IS MISSING. HE BECOMES A PRISONER TRAPPED IN THIS DULL WORLD SO HE DECIDES TO RUN AWAY AND...I'LL LEAVE THE REST FOR YOU TO FIND OUT, DONT WANNA RUIN IT. I HIGHLY RECCOMEND THIS BOOK BECAUSE IT'S SO WELL WRITTEN! YOU REALLY SHOULD READ IT. I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: The Giver....Great Book Review: This book was very good. It is about a 12 year old boy named Jonas who becomes the Receiver of Memory. He learns about everything that was and now is not. He lives in a city with no color or pain. The next year he runs away to try to find a city with color and snow and rain.
Rating: Summary: 7.3J.I.M. Review: This book was very interesting and mysterious. It was almost like you were in a different world. The people couldn't see color. They didn't know about many of the things we have, for example weather. They also thought animals were imaginary. It was amazing how much was taken away from them. Even their emotions were taken away from them. They kept trying to make a more civilized society. Though they seemed to get more cruel. For example, they didn't even care when they killed a twin of a baby just because they had a twin. They were very mysterious about all the deaths and the memories that the main character Jonas is suppose to receice. Though he thinks it is unfair to the people that they can't have the memories and feel the beautiful feeling like love. Though along with these beautiful and invigorating memories he has to recieve terrible ones of war. Though sometimes there is a price to pay for true happiness to be discovered. Overall I think this book was mysterious and also a bit sadning at parts like when the people were lost.
