Summary: for the really desparate reader
Review: this book was not the greatest, but it did have it's moments. at the end it really surprises you because it has kind of a sudden ending. It is also surprising because it makes you expect one thing and the book is based on another thing. But overall it is a pretty good book

Summary: Scary Old Man On The Front Cover
Review: This Book was ok because it would get good then it would lose your attention. I liked when Jonas found out that his dad killed the babies because he thought his dad was a pretty good guy until then. I wish his community was more like ares instead of it being based in the future because his community was way to strict. When they became 12 they got a job and started working and learning to be that person of the community. When Jonas gets called up for his award and job the whole auditorium gasps. He gets scared because he thought that it was a bad job. The job of the giver. Then he is walking into a building and going to where you recieve your training. Well at the end of his training he gets a message sent to him from the givers head to his head without talking or anything except with a touch.

Summary: The Giver
Review: This book was one of my favorite books. It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire way through. It is about a boy and what happens to him when he receives the most important job in the tower. If I recommend any book it would be this one.

Summary: This book touches your heart and makes you think.
Review: This book was one of the best books I have ever read. It was like taking a journey into a world of what life could be like if we wanted "perfection" and what if would cost us. The book really tells how important feelings are. By the end of the book I was shocked and crying. I would give recomend this book to anyone!!

Summary: Excellent
Review: This book was one of the best I've ever read. It's about a "perfect" community with no pain, loss, love, or colors. A boy is selected to hold all of the memories of the pain, loss, love etc. instead of having the community be burndened with it all. The boy goes on a hard journey to save the community but he won't ever be able to come back to his family. It was definately worth reading!

Summary: Boring
Review: This book was pretty boring to read. I think it dragged on too long about how he felt in the book. It was pretty much about his life in a community where they have any color. It started out boring but the ending was ok....Otherwise I hated reading this book.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Good but very disturbing
Review: This book was pretty good except for some disturbing parts. Lois Lowry did an excellent job describing all of the memories that the main charater Jonas was given in his job that was chosen for him at the age of tweleve. His job is to recieve memories from this man called the Giver. In Jonas's "perfect society" there is no color, choices, music, or feelings. When I say feelings I mean nothing. They do not feel love, pain, sadness, or memories like war, death, animals,(yes they don't have animals or know what they are)weather, cars, airplanes, or holidays. That isn't even all of the things they don't have or know about. They also chose you husband/wife. You do not get any say in who it is. There is no choice in this community. That isn't the most disturbing of all. In the community when you become "useless" or old you are moved to the house of the old. After a while when they think you become really "useless" you are killed by being injected with a clear liquid. If you think that is disturbing they do the same thing with babies too! Only 50 babies are born a year by the birthmothers (a job you can get) if twins are born or a baby isn't OK to be given to a family (yes they are given children they do not have them) they kill them with the same liquid as the old people except it is injected into their forehead! This book utterly disturbed me. If you do not like to read about gruesome death I strongly advise you not to read this.
