Summary: The Greatest Book Ever Made in Man's History of Making Books
Review: This Book is the greatest. It pulled me into it and aroused my curiosity. It made me feel what Jonas, the main character, was feeling. It was incredible how Lois Lowry depicted everything in this story. The way Jonas discovers color, feelings, and love is mind boggling. I can not get over how great this story was.

Summary: What Would the World Be Like Without Emotion?
Review: This book is thought-provoking for young people. I'd describe it as "1984" or "Brave New World" for young people, only this book ends with a bit of hope for the reader. It's a Newbery-Award winner for a reason. I recommend it for anyone but expecially adolescents.

Summary: ~The Giver~
Review: This book is truly awesome! Before my reading class started to read this, we were asked to write an essay of what our perfect "utopia" would look or be like. The beginning is sort of confusing, but after chapters 7 and 8 you wanna really get into it! Jonas lives in a perfect world, where everything is the same. No one sees color, there is no pain or hunger, and mostly everything is controlled. But then, when Jonas is told what his job is to be, it is something he never expected. He is to be the Reciever Of Memory, the one who recieves ALL the memories of the past, even before people went to, as Ms. Lowry calls it, Sameness. Jonas learns the true pain that people felt before Sameness. He can ask any question and recieve an answer, because of his high honer. This book is really great, and it gets your mind thinking, "What would it be like?"

Summary: "The Giver"
Review: This book is very interesting and detailed. To begin with, it is about a boy who lives in a large city that is colorless and the same in temperature year round. When you are 12 years old your job in life is decided for you. There are family units with 2 children (1girl and boy). There are no real grades but ages that you learn by. Everybody in this city turns a different age in December. If twins are born and are both the same genders they weigh them and see which one is smaller and kill it. It is called the Giver because the boy becomes it. A Giver is a person that takes all the memories from years and years over time. Then when you turn old they put you in the old house. When you're too old they kill you. In this book he finds memories and color. He also finds what the world is really like outside of the town. Louis Lowery is one my favorite authors.

Summary: A thrilling story, never to know what will happen next.
Review: This book is very interesting, but yet a little confusing. A world without colors, love, pain, ect.. A world that might be interesting yet, scary. This book 'The Giver' is a little confusing and hard to understand, but yet still a great book. Lois Lowry ends this book with a suspence. I wish there were a sequel to this book. Though I don't know how the sequel will start. Anyway, read this book. It's a heart warming story.

Summary: A Story of a boy named Jonas escaping his "perfect" life.
Review: This book is very like-able. It moves at a good rate and keeps the reader in curiousity. It is easy to understand and relatable to the reader. It is about a oung boy named Jonas and hs escaping the place in which he lives in. He gets picked to recieve the thoughts of the world as t was before it was monitored and perfect. When there was pain and suffering, as well as pleasure and happiness. After experiencing this he takes his little brother Gabrielle and ventures to find a world in which he can experience those emotions. He leaves without telling anybody and it is known that he left. This part leaves the reader in the most suspence. He also leaves when having feuds with his family, about their beliefs and their sayings. He also is't emotionally attached to them because they aren't his birth parents. He was put in this family when he was just a kid with no choice. His thoughts and emotional suffering, as well as his happiness with the Giver,(the man giving him all the memories of the times before) is relatable to the young reader's own feelings. I would definetely recommend this book to any reader. This book is right for all readers because it has a little bit of everything. It is heartfelt, adventurous, and has a comfort to it that any reader would like. This book should definetly be read, if you are young or old, or in between, this book is for you.

Summary: A very powerful story
Review: This book is very powerful and teaches you a lot of life lessons. I read it in school and I could hardly put it down! It talks about what some people would call a "perfect world". As the story goes on though, I realized a world with no difference is not perfect at all.

Summary: Reader from New Ulm
Review: This book is very well done! The author does an excellent job of not revealing what exactly is going on. In this way she holds your interest until the very end of the story. The characters have depth and emotion and Jonas really draws you into the story. This book will make you question everything you beleive about life. An excellent work!

Summary: Well - written and my favorite book in the whole world!
Review: This book is very well written. It is a book about a young boy named Jonas who is picked to be next receiver of memories. The story tells about his life in a perfect world. It turns out NOT to be very perfect after all. The ending is very obnoxious because you cannot decide what really happens to Jonas. I would recommend this book thoroughly to any age person. Even my mom liked it!
