Summary: THIS IS SICK!
Review: THIS BOOK IS CERTAINLY NOT WHAT ANY CHILD SHOULD BE READING! I WAS SHOCKED TO SEE SOME OF THE THINGS WRITTEN IN A KIDS BOOK. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO MY CHILD'S SCHOOL ABOUT THIS AND I PRAY THAT PARENTS WILL LOOK AT THIS BEFORE THEY LET THEIR CHILD READ IT! CHILDREN DO NOT NEED TO READ IN DETAIL HOW JONAS' FATHER KILLED A BABY. THIS IS NOT ENTERTAINING! WE WORRY SO MUCH ABOUT VIOLENCE AND TRASH AND THEN WE GIVE THIS BOOK TO OUR KIDS TO READ FOR A GRADE! IF YOU THINK THIS BOOK IS GOOD, I FEEL SORRY FOR YOU. MAYBE YOU SHOULD EXAMINE YOURSELF. HOW COULD THIS HAVE WON AN NEWBERY AWARD! PLEASE, IF THERE ARE CHILDREN'S AUTHORS READING THIS, P L E A S E! WRITE SOME HAPPY AND ENCOURAGING STORIES FOR OUR KIDS TO READ AND ENJOY!

Summary: This book was simply GREAT!
Review: This book is certainly one of my favorites, I couldn't put it down! When you first start reading it, it sounds a little weird and boring, but that's where most people make their mistake. They just quit reading the book. BUT I advise you not to. Keep on reading, then you'll get to the good part! It is very well written, and it constantly keeps you interested with new developments and discoveries. If you're a book lover like me, read it! If you're not, try reading it because if you don't, you're missing out on a lot of great stuff.

Summary: Great!
Review: This book is different..definitely different. I read it the summer before sixth grade, and I loved it! I didn't believe that any of it would be true, so I did not start to not trust parents anymore, as another reviewer assumed a sixth grader would. Really...sixth graders are smarter than that! It is kind of sad, but it was great! It was a tad bit confusing, but as a whole, I loved it, and so did all of my friends! I think it should be read the summer before sixth grade or later.

Summary: The choices we make
Review: This book is excellent. It explores the futuristic society in which twelve year old Jonas lives. The story is an eye opening experience. It will make you realize just how many choices you do have. The book overall is very good. It is full of symbols, but definetly not over complicated. The ending of the book is very unclear. The book leaves you to pick your own interpretation. Which can be good if you like that. I personally like the ending to be decisive. I want to know what happens to the characters.

Summary: The Giver Opens Your Eyes and Makes You Question Perfection
Review: This book is fantastic! I am a teacher and I am truly excited to share this novel with my students...it makes you open your eyes and question the meaning of "perfection." Many times we speak of how wonderful it would be to live in a "perfect world", but I do not believe that we can comprehend what that would mean - a loss of freedom, of beauty, of innocence,of history, of love...If you are interested in reading a book that will make you thankful for all of the many great gifts we do have, pick up this treasure and enjoy it for all of its wisdom!

Summary: EXCELLENT, DEEP, THOUGHT PROVOKING, MUST READ
Review: This book is for a mature reader. The parallels to our society are remarkable but a young pre-teen may not "get it" without help. A teenager (or adult) who is aware of the problems in our society should be able to understand the message this book is trying to send. Reading about the story line may ruin the suspense and surprise that this book provides. READ IT. THINK ABOUT IT.

Summary: A must-read!
Review: This book is great and everyone should read it. Although it seems a bit bizzare in the beginning, once you get into it it is hard to put down. This book is about a world where there are no wars, no sadness, no minorities. Everything is the same. Sounds perfect, right? Wrong. As you read this you will discover the world of Jonas, the boy who must receive all of the memories of the world. Memories of horrible things in the past. He must receive these from the Giver of memories and not share them with anyone. Everyone in this no-feeling world is being protected from these memories. Only the Giver and receiver can bear them. This book will really make you think. About life. About love. About sadness. About joy. About how we are lucky to have all these things.

Summary: Great Book
Review: This book is great for everyone with a wild imagination. I would deffinatly recomed this to everyone. I really enjoyed this book, in the story there is a place where everything is the same. Everyones dissions are made for them. How to cut your hair, when to ride a bike, and even what job you will have. The best part of the book is towards the end when Jonas is on his way to find a differet place and things start to happen to him, such as starting to see color. It really gets exciting aroud there. The begining of the book is a little slow, which gets boring, but it soon speeds up, and unusualthings start to happen. In the book Jonas is chosen to be the reciver of memories. He is lead and tought by an old man know as the Giver. Jonas comes to realize how different the world is. He can not adjust to the new things he finds, and has a hard time serviving. This book paints pictures in your mind. I would recomend The Giver to everyone.

Summary: It is an excellent book to read!
Review: This book is great it portrays life lived in a utopian world where nothing is wrong, and everything is perfect. What startled me was at the end of the book I did not know whether he was dead from the cold and seeing the "Elsewhere" or if he was alive and saw the "Elsewhere". It was a fascinating book and it was really easy to read and I would recommend this book to a person. It makes them think about what is going on in this world!
