Summary: THe Best Book in my Life
Review: The Giver was the best book that i have ever read. I really liked the fictional idea of the community, and how the people in it were very well described. The only part that i did not like was the last line where it says, "But Perhaps it(the music jonas heard) was only an echo." I though this line really ruinged the end of the book, and it weakened the boldness of it.

Summary: A world unknown
Review: The Giver was unlike any book I have ever read before. It captured my heart right from the beginning. In a place where love, war, and flaws are unknown, a young boy begins to discover that his society is full of nothing but sameness. They are lacking the beautiful things which make our society so special, such as color, sunshine, snow, and most importantly our incredible feelings of love. Jonas learns that the world he has grown up in is meaningless, and he decides to turn his life around while he still can.

Summary: The book was very slow in the beggining.
Review: The Giver was very boring and slow in the beggining. It was also confusing. The book got better in the training of the reciever. I do not know why they can't see color. I rated the book a because I did not get the meaning of it. It is confusing because Jonas starts to see color and hearing music and everyone else can't.

Summary: The giver was a well written book.
Review: The Giver was very good book. At the begining it was very boring. As the book went on, it got much better, they should have a sequeal to the book.

Summary: Bobbie's "Giver" Review
Review: The Giver was very interesting. It was like taking me to a whole new world. Most everything was different. I didn't like some of the people in the book's views. Although at the same time, I wanted to know how those people thought, worked, and felt. I wanted to know why did what happen, happen. There was only one man who seemed to care at all about anything. I thought the little one was cute as well. I felt sad when I found out what the father's job was. Another thing I didn't like was the ending. I wanted to know more!

Summary: This was a fairly good book.
Review: The Giver was, in my opinion, a fairly good book. The storyline was good and Lois Lowry did a very good jod of portraying Jonas's fellings throught the book. The only thing I didn't understand was the ending. Overall though this was a good book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A powerful and intriguing book
Review: The Giver was, in my opinion, a very good book. It was easy to read and easy to understand. The story is about a boy named Jonas, and he lives in a community that is perfect- that is, there is no pain and no memory of any negative experiences. It is essentially a "Sameness" area where nothing changes. However, when Jonas turns twelve he is given a job in the community. That job involves the memory of all past events- good and bad. Jonas's life changes because he learns the truth about everything, whether he wants to or not.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone. I found that I had a hard time putting it down...I had to know how it ended!

Summary: This book is deffinately not meant for children!
Review: The Giver while deffinately not a dry and boring book should not be included in the children's reading category. I have been doing an independent study on Newberry Award winning novels at my highschool and I must say that I can not figure out how it was chosen when it does not fit the criteria. The topics of suicide, murdering of children, and profanity would scare any child! The adult book has been disguised as a child's and should return to the proper placing.
