Summary: The Giver
Review: The Giver was a great book. I enjoyed it very much, even though I thought it was a little weird. I couldn't quite grasp the concept, but about 9 pages into the book I completely got the book. I gave it 5 stars because of the imagery, the concept of the city, and the total realization of this place that it was almost real like I could just touch it. As reading the book I was kind of thrown off the subject I could not understand what was happening. Jonas to me seemed different from all the other people in the book. Like he had some kind of special power over the others. When I reached the part about the "Giver" or boss I completely understood what Jonas was to do. I could never imagine live in a place where you couldn't be free to think and do. Where you where told what you where to for the rest of your life. The concept of this book was so surreal that you can picture it happening and you can create the scene inside to your head. Jonas didn't like the way things were being run. When he finally understood what was happening, like for example when he finally saw what being "released" meant when his father killed the other twin or how you had to apply for a child. When he came to harsh reality that the game he often par took in was actually a sing of war and the other kids didn't know what was happening, but Jonas knew what pain was and told them to stop. Over all the book was very well written and I wish they would make a squel.

It is a novel about a boy named Jonas who lives in a utopia with no differences, he is given a respected job, he is notified that in the training of his new job there will be pain it is called the job of receiving memory. In training Jonas receives things that people in the community are not given such as color, choice, memory of war, snow, sun, love and hate. Jonas is overwhelmed with painful and cherished memories and realizes that a perfect world for one person is not a perfect world for another, but he and the previous receiver of memory are the only ones that know this because the other people if the communities don’t experience choice, love or hate. Jonas finally decides to escape the community and leave all the memories to the community and the old receiver of memory.

Summary: I think it was a harsh look at the future.
Review: The Giver was a pretty good look at what our future could look like. It would be an unfair life to live without color or feelngs. The book really discribed how you it not be very fun to see with no color or feelings. I think that Lois Lowery could have made the ending way better i was disapointed in the ending and how she left us out to hang. But this book opened my eyes to what we could grow up living like in the future. Maybe we already are.

Summary: The Giver
Review: The Giver was a spectacular book! I read it at school for
the academically gifted program. Usually the books are extremely boring to me. This book was so awsome that I am asking for it for my birthday. I cannot wait to read it again. It is about a world totally different from ours everything is supposively perfect but when you dont have any feelings or memories it isnt as good as our world if you really think our world has alot of problems their world doesnt. From day to day their world is perfectly fine but they are just there with no feelings or memories! When you start the book it grabs you and reels you in you can not stop reading it. I loved this book and I rate it with five stars because of the fact that it is so great! It really deserves more than five stars!

Summary: The Giver
Review: The Giver was a terrificly written book about a boy named Jonas and his life, in this strange community. A town without happiness, pain, color, difference. Everyone does certain things at the same time. Every year there is a moving up ceremony. The 9's get a bike while the 12's get their assignments. The committee of Elders assigns each child the perfect job. Jonas becomes the Receiver of Memory, the only one who has memories of long ago. Jonas learns pain, see color, feels happiness like never before. He recieves memories of everything. The memories that were cast out when there was no difference. This is a great book and I recommend it to everyone.

Summary: Not Just a Book for Children
Review: The Giver was a truly incredible book. While I was reading it, I felt as though I
was inside Jonas's mind, discovering everything as he discovered it, and feeling as he felt.
It was an easy read for me because of this involvement, but I thought about it for hours
afterwards. I had to wonder if I could survive in his world, and I eventually reached the
conclusion that I could not. I also had to wonder what I would have done in Jonas's place,
and I do not believe that I have his courage. It was truly refreshing to read about a hero
without a sword or a gun, but with incredible strength of spirit. The best books are those
that make you challenge your own beliefs and think about the beliefs of others and their
validity, and The Giver was one of the best.

Summary: The Giver's Words
Review: The Giver was a very good book, although it made me think a lot about how Jonas would start a new life with Gabe in elsewhere. I tried to think about what could have happened, but Lowry gave a little sense of mystery. The Giver got me a little confused with being released because in the begining it sounded like they would put the person in another community. In the end it said they killed the released people.
My opinion about The Giver is that it was very detailed and that it has a lot of mystery to it. The details were excellent because I could picture the red sled going down the snow hilland then stopping, perfectly. Also the mystery was just enough. When Jonas found elsewhere, it told enough to show that he made it to a better place. Overall, I Think that Lois Lowry's, The Giver, was a very well writin tale!
