Summary: Read This Book
Review: I thought this book was amazing. Some parts hitt a little too close to home for me. But parts like the 10 Lies They Will Tell You In High School and her pep rally experiances made the book totally worth reading. I'm sorry to say I am a pathetic reader, but I just couldn't put this book down. I recomend it to anyone who finds humor in the halls of high school. It's not for anyone who has never experienced being left out or who can honestly say their in the "in crowd."

Summary: The best book ever!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: This book is touching and witty. It is compleatly realistic in regaurds to what that other reader wrote. Melinda looked at the world and twisted it and took the truth out of everything she saw. And yes a teacher would let a student not talk. I loved this book. Anyone can easily identify with it and i highly recomend it

Summary: Just so perfect
Review: I just read this book yesterday, I thought the cover was really interesting ... wow, it was just so perfect! It's so frightening that something like that happened to Melinda, when she's a ninth grader, I was a ninth grader. It was very, um, humbling I guess. I loved the whole name changing of the mascot. Hahahahaha!! That was hilarious. I hate that Heather girl. Ok, this probably isn't very helpful, but GET THIS BOOK!!!!!!

Summary: Speak
Review: I was given 'Speak' as summer reading for my the high school I'm entering next year. I had read speak a while ago, but managed to forget most of it.So, when I started it (again) last week, I found if kind of an ironic choice for incoming freshmen- "The first 10 lies they tell you in high school: 1.We are here to help you. 2.You will have enough time to get to class before the bell rings. 3.The dress code will be enforced. 4.No smoking allowed on school grounds. 5.our football team will win the championship this year." ... etc. But anyway, The book was humourous and witty. Melinda's struggles with 'tree' kind of represent her struggles with herself- she can see what needs to be done, but can't figure out how to make it work.(In art, she was instructed to pull a slip of paper from a cracked globe and spend the year trying to capture the object the slip revieled in diffrent mediums and give it some emotion. Melinda pulled 'tree'.) I also think Melindas inability to 'speak' goes deeper than cracked lips and a sore throught. Speak was an amazing moving book that captures the details and everyday life of high school. This book definately should should be apart of any high schoooler's reading list.

Summary: The writer was pathetic and not 1 word was true!!
Review: This book was TOTALLY DISAPOINTING!!! I am in the popular crowd, so yes, you might say that I wasnt one to read this book, but i was in for a ride! Not one word in this book was true! Popular kids do NOT torture or humilate those who aren't popular! We have better things to do! The narrator was plain PATHETIC! She kept just feeling SORRY for herself and made other poeple give her sympathy! She wasnt willing to try new things! Instead she turned mute and criticized all other people better than her! What? She thinks we are better off? She thinks we're luckier?? People that are more popular than her have no advantages over her!! She is just too pathetic to realize it! I do not suggest this book to ANYONE because i thought it was stupid and UNrealistic!! NO TEACHER WOULD LET THERE STUDENT NOT TALK THE WHOLE YEAR!! GIVE ME A BREAK!!

Summary: Speak
Review: Melinda entered Merryweather High School (former home of the Trojans, but the school board believed that this didn't send a good abstinence message) with the wrong clothes, the wrong hair, the wrong attitude. She had no friends, and everyone at school hated her because that summer, she had broken up a party by calling the police. Melinda stops talking because she believes no one will listen. But when she when that traumatic event of the summer starts happening again, she knows learns it's better to speak up than shut up. This is a great book, with dark and witty humor that sends a message to all of its readers.

Summary: something to learn from.....
Review: After months of waiting for this book to be returned to the library, I finally let go and bought it. Ms. Anderson has her own unique style of writing this book. At first I was puzzled why she wrote the dialogue kind of like a play script. And I realized it was all part of the book. There isn't really anger in this book even though most teenagers with Melinda's freshman life would've felt much resentment towards the popular people and other people that at least had friends. It seems that Melinda just accepts her life in silence. Although other characters in the story describe her as "depressing" and "negative", she seems more like a high school martyr to me, considering the painful reason of her silence. This book is the best type and style you can get. First person always appears to make details look clear. "Speak" can teach you something if you let the book take you away. It may even change your view on a few matters...if you have the chance to read it, please do. It's a great book and Anderson deserves much appreciation.

Summary: My Favorite new Book
Review: This book is probably one of my favorites. The only problem I found of it was that ..., every little thing is a big deal in this book, when in real high school, it isn't.
