Rating: Summary: An Outstanding Read Review: This book is an outstanding book about Melinda and her secret. Enjoyable to read and hard to put down, I highly reccomend Speak, as much as I do the book "Annie on My mind"
Rating: Summary: MY FAVE!!! Review: As a loner and school outcast myself, this book really touched me in more ways then one. It was nice the way the author made the main character very sarcastic and witty about everything as I can sometimes be rather than just depressing and sad. it was beautifully writen and i wish it never ended.

Rating: Summary: Leaves you spechless! Review: I loved this book! My english teacher read this to us in my 10th grade year. And I loved it so much I went out and bought my self a copy. I would reconmend this book to anyone that likes the ending to have a bang! And Laurie Halse has a snappy way of writing and it keeps you hooked.
Rating: Summary: Speaking out Review: This story is a novel of hope in a dark situation. Melindia is finding it harder, and harder to speak, after she was [attacked] at a party. she call the police at the party, and the whole school hates her as people got aressted, even though they neglected to get her side of the story. After her friends desert her, and she is all alone, and her grades slipping. Eventually she confronts her fear of speaking to the one person who disolved her world. I enjoyed this novel as even thought her world is closing in on her she finds hope and brings light to her world. I strongly suggest this book, Laurie Halse Anderson has done an excelent job wrighting this novel, and it truly is a modern classic.
Rating: Summary: Meghan Taylor- Bak Middle School of the Arts Review: In the book Speak, it very well portrays the life of Melinda. It was written in first person, which made you feel connected to the reader. In doing so, you are able to understand this teenager's life, and all of her struggles. You begin to feel sad when she has a rough day, and worry when she comes near "the beast." I enjoyed this book very much, and feel an understanding of other people who struggle, because of this character. It is very difficult to read through something where the character has absolutely no friends, or anyone who believes her story. It's so appalling to "watch" people antagonize someone because of what they think that person has done. The author has done an amazing job of creating real-life situations, where the "Martha's" come along, and take away your friend. It shows how much "segregation" there is in high school, and how everyone feels that they are defined by which group they belong to, where ,as Melinda learns, is not the case at all. All together, this book was very meaningful and awakening as to what was really out there.
Rating: Summary: Speak: Find your voive Review: Have you ever tried to just forget about things, but you just can't seem to drown it out? That is what Melinda Sordina, a freshmen attending Merryweather High School, tries to do all the time. Something has happened to her that she just can't forget about. Her parents don't understand her anymore, she has no one to talk to, no one to lean on for support and she has no place to go to. She thinks the only place safe is in her mind although that isn't even safe; she just wants to forget about things, and never go back to that night. The night she called the cops on a wild end of the year party, no one knows why she called the cops, but now none of her friends will talk to her and some people she doesn't even know hate her, no one will even give her a chance to explain herself. When she tries to talk to teachers or even her parents she just can't seem to speak she stutters and just cant seem to speak out. If you can't seem to find your voice just like Melinda Sordina read the book Speak, by Laurie Halse Anderson. It helped me find my voice maybe it can help you find yours.
Rating: Summary: Speaking the Truth Review: Melinda sat quietly and bit her fingernails until they began to bleed. People pointed and whispered at her as she wiped away the blood. She had no friends. At the end of last year, in eighth grade, Melinda and her ex-best friend Rachel, blackmailed Rachelfs brother into taking them to a high school party, complete with seniors and drinking. Everyone gets drunk and the party gets a little bit wild. Melinda doesnft think to just go home, though. Instead, she calls the police. People start screaming at her for being so stupid, and Melinda runs home. Almost everyone else is arrested. Now Melinda has nobody to hang out with, except for the new girl, Heather, who eventually ditches her for the gMartha Stewart Wannabesh. Even Rachel, who was her best friend, constantly reminds Melinda how much she hates her. She tries to avoid it, and block it all out, but when Rachel starts going out with a senior, she canft. Melinda knows this kid is bad news, and she doesnft want anyone, especially not someone she used to be so close to, to get hurt. But Melinda canft stop her from dating him. If she tried, she would finally have to speak the truth.
Rating: Summary: Speak Review by Faysal Review: Speak is an excellent novel. It is the only book that I would recomend people to read out of all the ones my English teacher made me read. This book puts you in the set of a typical highschool (mostly). It's about this girl called Melinda (Mel), who everyone seems to hate for busting the party (nobody actually knows why she called the police). No one at school talks to her, not even her old friends. At school she gets involved in art, its the only class she really seems to like. She makes comments on all the stereotypes at school (most of them are from her point of view), but I'm sure she had her own reasons for making the comments. Anyways, she makes a new frind in school, advances her skills in art, and almost at the end she decides to tell the world about what really happened at the party ...
