Summary: THE BAD BEGINNING
Review: SOME PEOPLE WROTE THINGS LIKE THIS BOOK IS NOT FOR KIDS. BUT I THINK IT IS ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS EVER. I LIKE THESE BOOKS BECAUSE IT TEACHES LESSONS FROM TIME TO TIME. I CAN'T WAIT TO READ THE OTHER NINE BOOKS.

Summary: They say that unfortunate events happen in threes
Review: The miserable saga continues. This is a great three book continuation set for the series. Lemony Snicket has made a great series of books for those people that can't stand everything being sweetness and light. In the process we learn many lessons in life from grammar to etiquette. Similar to Rocky and Bullwinkle there is something for everyone at any age.
It would be wise to buy this three book set as you will be hooked on the story from the beginning and have all three books finished before you have a chance to buy the next.
Coming in a case allows you to set the books up on the shelf without needing any supporting books or book ends.
I will not go through the contents of the books, as you will get a better idea of what you are purchasing from the individual reviews. However the books included in this set are "The Miserable Mill," "The Ersatz Elevator," and "The Austere Academy." Be sure to look for my individual reviews of each book. In each you will see the pattern that makes this series popular and maybe learn a little something on the side.

Summary: I LOVE THESE BOOKS!!!!!!!!!!
Review: These are really good books! In the Miserable Mill, they go to a lumbermill (Lucky Smells Lumbermill). They thought that they were going to be taken care of by a nice guardian and finally break the bad luck strike that has been following them wherever they go. But, when they got there, their gaurdian (Sir) makes them work. Their boss Flacutono, only gives them gum to eat for lunch. Then, like a few days later, Flacutono trips Klaus so his glass break and then Count Olaf (Shirley) hipnotizes him. Then, in the Austere Academy, they go to Prufrock Preparoraty School and they have to live in the Orphans Shack with fungus and crabs. Luckily, they found friends, Duncan and Isadora Quigmire (triplets, their brother, Quigley died in a fire). Then, when they got to Jerome and Esme Squalor's house, they Jerome liked the Baudelaires but Esme disliked them. In the end, Esme was in the league with OLAF! And that of course is a BIG problem.

Summary: A good read
Review: These books are a very good and a quick read.I have read all of them they just suck you in and you can't stop reading. I would get this set if you are an alright reader and around the age of 13 and in 6th grade or above.

Summary: We are not dumb!
Review: They are good books except for Carnivorous Carnival, but he author makes it so predictable! He says like "the Quagmires were wrong", instead of making it intense. And he defines every stupid word! And whats with Beatrice? So off subject! Make an autobiography if you want to mention Beatrice, Snicket!!

Summary: With Credit
Review: This book was boring, stupid, worthless, disgusting, and flat out weird. Why doesn't Count Olaf just kill the freakin kids and get it over with. And why don't the kids just report Count Olaf to the cops? And how the heck do the kids know exactly what Sunny is saying. She says "weo" and they come up with a sentence like sunny says "weo" and violet says that means that Count Olaf is coming to kill us once again. It's just weird. All the books are about Count Olaf trying to kill the kids. How many times does it take to kill two kids and a baby? And Lemony snicket calls himself a writer? He does not paint a picture in your mind like many great authors. And why the heck doesn't he just tell people his real name? Anyways, If you want to spare yourself some time DON'T read this series.

Summary: A "Different" type of story that will intrigue your kids!
Review: This series of books by "Lemony Snicket" does not have the standard "happy ending" of most childrens books. The 3 kids in these stories have miserable lives with one thing going wrong after another. Because of this, I thought my 8 year old son wouldn't like them - wrong! He absolutely loves them and is always begging me to read one more chapter! The writing is dry, but funny. The books contain many "large" or unusual words/expressions, but almost all are explained in the text (which can get annoying). I would say these books are good for kids from 7 - 12 (although use your judgement for the younger ones as the books do have evil bad guys, murder and lots of threats). As an adult reading the books to your kids, you might get a little frustrated as the stories are similar and the adults in the books are really dense - but these are for kids and they seem to love them!
