Summary: Review on the series.
Review: These series of books are pretty good. Yes, they have some gothic undertones, but they're a much better vocabulary builder than Harry Potter. I even found myself looking up a few words. They're definitely easy reads, and they go quick, as in three days max for me. They are unique, a word which here means one of a kind but strange- to sample the writing style. I overall liked them, although I could have done without baby Sunny's jibberish that Lemony Snicket translated. I would highly recommend them for children 6 + up- they're entertaining, educational, and a good way to get your child into reading.

Summary: be wary
Review: Sick, twisted, and utterly wretched books for any child to read aside from the Addams Family. They are so depressing that I couldn't even get through the first half of the book without wanting to throw the book against the wall, the only reason I read it was for a children's lit class. Do we really want young children reading a book that includes an uncle wanting to marry his neice? Hanging a baby in a cage out of a window? Abuse?

If you're going to read this book to your children, or let them read it, be sure to be ready for nightmares and outlandish questions.

Teenagers are the only ones that I would say could read these books with a clear head and see that they are so bad they are actually amusing.

Summary: It sat forever until the first page was turned.
Review: My 11 year old son received this set for a gift and the box sat under his bed for a long, long time. Then he turned the first page. He's a fan. Highly recommended.

Summary: Better then Harry?
Review: When I read I like a flowing book. One that runs smothly. I love reading books that chalenge my mine , mix it up a bit.
I have all the books from this set. I got i so much troble from my parents because I WOULDN'T turn my lights off, I had to keep reading.
I think that Harry Potter books were good but all the characters in the book were the same. They all had the same personalities, In these books all the children were very diferent but some how the same.
All in all i love these books and I would be in so happy if there were to be more books publishd i the future.

Review: The story all starts when the Baudelaries parents died.Left in the care of the evil loathsome Count Ofal, the Baudelaries life just gets worse and worse.Mr. Poe,a banker who is in charge of the orphan's affairs, doesn't see Count Ofal for who he really is.Hearing of the Baudelaries huge fortune Count Ofal and his theater buddies create this evil plan.In order for the fortune to be used Violet, the oldest, must get married.Count Ofal forces Violet to marry him in a pretend play by captureing little Sunny Baudelarie. In order to be married officially 3 things must take place.A judge must be present, the bride must sign a legal document in her own hand, and the bride and groom must say "I do".The Baudelaries neighbor at the time was a judge and agreed to participate in the play.Klause, the middle orphan, tryed to come up with a plan.Meanwhile Violet had a plan of her own.If you know Violet well you know that she is right handed. The legal document that Violet had to sign, she signed with her left hand making the marrige illegal.Saddly Count Ofal, his tattoo of an eye on his ankle, and his theater buddies escaped.Luckily for the Baudelaries none of them was harmed except for Klause when Count Ofal struck him. These books are interesting and hilarious. Read books 2-8 to find out the fate of the Baudelaries and what evil plans Count Ofal and his associates have thought up to get hold of the Baudelarie's fortune.

Summary: load of fun!
Review: This series of books is hilarious! Our whole family enjoys them, from the 30 something parents to the 15 and 12 year old. They are interesting, irreverent and wickedly funny.

For even more fun, try the books on tape...Tim Curry is a fantastic narrator for the series.

Summary: This is the best series of books ever !
Review: I hate to read. In 6th grade, my teacher made us do a reading time, and I hated it, until the day she mentioned that she had a new series on her bookshelf, by an author named Lemony Snicket. At first, I saw everyone making a big deal of it, and I thought that it was just a stupid book. But I read the first book and I liked it VERY much. Now, I see what all of the fuss is about, and I cannot wait for the next book !

Review: Once you pick it up you can't put it down. I read these so quickly because they were excellent and couldn't wait to read more .....! I am now on the last chapter of Book 8 and don't want to read it until Book 9 comes out . It will be hard to wait until October.
My sister , who is only 6 , is reading the first book and loves it too.

Summary: Very disappointing
Review: The Unfortunate Events books are about three orphaned children named Sunny, Violet and Klaus. They are being chased by a meanie named Count Olaf who is after the large sum of money that they inherited from their late parents. Everything that happens in these books is horrible. Also, Lemmony Snicket has the habit of getting caught up in explaining what "truth shmuth" means or giving lectures on the begining sentence of a book. I can assure you, this can get very annoying. There are probably a few people out there who like depressing books such as this, but thankfully, I am not one of them.

Summary: Wonderful, great, awsome...
Review: I am 13 years old and I enjoy reading many types of books. I think "A Series of Unfortunate Events" is a great book for kids and teens, these books have elements of suspense, mystery, action, adventure etc... For everybody who is "ify" on getting these books I suggest getting "The Bad Beginning" and making your choice from there. I am a person who WILL NOT read a book unless it is very enjoyable and I read "The Bad Beginning" in ONE night.
