Summary: You won't want to put it down!
Review: I bought this book mainly because I like to support local artists, and I was curious because the author is so young. I didn't expect that I would not be able to put it down!! Harry Potter was a fun book, but I did not have to miss two days of work to stay home and read it. Eragon transported me to a different world, and I hated to leave it. This is one of those books you hate to finish!

If you are hesitant to spend 23 bucks on a paperback, all I can say is you won't regret it. Eragon is well worth it. I'm sure we will be hearing more from Christopher Paolini in the future, and I would not be surprised if this self- published first edition is a collector's item one day.

Summary: Great Book!
Review: I loved this book and it kept me on the edge of my seat, reading long into the night (after I had been told to go to sleep repeatedly by my mom). The dragon, Saphira, is my favorite character. It's a great page turner and I recommend it to anybody who likes fantasy books.

Summary: Cajoled to read Eragon by my 13-year-old daughter
Review: I was cajoled and forced to read Eragon by my... daughter. She found out about the book from a friend. Anytime I see teenagers with books, walking around with their copies of this book (held greedily), whispering and phoning their other friends about it, I knew that something was up and took notice.

My daughter fell in love with the characters and the story. She is enamored by the author who is also a teenager.

My daughter said to read the first three chapters. Under duress, and under her watchful eye, I began Eragon. It immediately sucked me into the story. I finished the book in three days time. I would have finished it quicker if not for my work.

I give Eragon two thumbs up!

Summary: What a Book--Stellar story and writing!
Review: Eragon is a story that you will read every spare moment until you're done with the book. Christopher Paolini (can you believe this kid is only eighteen!) has written a story that will last the test of time because it has all the classic elements: an event at the beginning that starts a series of situations and adventures, love, a coming of age story, an inheritance, bad guys (Urgals) and good guys, not the least of which is a brilliant blue dragon, Saphira. I really don't want to give away much, because you just have to read this book for yourself too see what I mean.

I loved this book. I think this author has hit a home run. I am still chasing the ball and loving the journey. I finished the book two weeks ago, yet the "world" that Paolini has created in Eragon still sticks with me. I can see it in my mind's eye. I find myself wondering about the characters, and when the next book will be ready.

Summary: I loved it!!!!!!!!
Review: This book was the best! I have read many books, and none of them can compair to this book!!! I just finshed it yesterday, and it took me 4 days to read it. I love fiction books and espashly ones with dragons in them. I can't wait for the 2nd one. I mean, I just turned 16, and he wrote this book when he was 15! I mean I am writing a book, but it will not compair to Chris's Eragon!!!

Summary: The best book ever
Review: This was the best book I have ever read and trust me I have read many books, This book was exciting throughout the whole story and described everthing very well. The characters were very much alive. I give Paolini ten thumbs up, I think that every person in the world should read this book. Someday I wish to be a great writer like yourself. You are my favorite author and will most likely always be. I know that the next two books will be just as good if not better than Eragon. I enjoyed this book and it was without a doubt the best book ever.

Summary: An enchanting and heroic battle between two forces
Review: This is one of the greatest books of all time. One might call it good against evil, but the good aren't that heroic. It is a coming of age story where the main character struggles with himself and his own feelings as well as his enemies. A great epic novel much like The Lord Of The Rings, except it is not as hard to follow.

Summary: A (Self-consciously) Precocious Debut
Review: This book was disappointing. As stated in other reviews, it was derivative and cliché. It had all of the same elements as every other bland fantasy book, along with the extra baggage of a teen-aged writer trying to flex underdeveloped vocabulary muscle--one gets the feeling that Paolini wrote the book with his high school vocabulary lists on one side, a dictionary on the other, and classic fantasy books in his lap. The dialogue was stilted and unnatural, and the reader finds it hard to care about any of the characters because they're not well developed. One of the review blurbs on the dustjacket's back calls Eragon a "precocious debut." I think that's true; but Paolini's quite aware that he's out of his league, and tries to compensate for his uninspired vision by using big words as well as stereotypic characters and generic action sequences. Unless Fox makes some drastic changes in dialogue and character development in its upcoming film adaptation, the movie will flop due to poor critical reviews and snickering, exhasperated audiences. Hopefully the rest of the planned trilogy will improve the story and make "Inheritance" worth the readers' time and money.

Summary: Really monotonous...
Review: They say one should ask questions if one does not know something and that one shall learn, but... Paolini might as well tell the entire story in an interview if he liked asking and answering questions so much... Eragon asks twenty questions and when someone has only answered one, he asks fifty more. For example, when Eragon is talking to Brom:<br /><br />"Dragons have no beginning, unless it lies with the creation of Algaesia itself... Their world was unchanging until the first elves sailed over the sea on their silver ships.'<br />'Where did the elves come from?' interrupted Eragon. 'And why are they called the fair folk? Do they really exist?"<br /><br />That gets really annoying and if Eragon was a real boy, I'd slapped him after the third question. It's probably just me... who knows.<br /><br />I'll brush away the fact that Paolini's story is derivative from other fantasy novels, but let's look at the view of a person whom has never read any fantasy novels and a close up on the writing.<br /><br />Descriptions are good, but too much of a good thing makes it bad. It's like he inserted descriptions of places and things randomly and messed up the flow of the story. The beginning chapters aren't very engrossing and I find myself getting easily distracted by things like a piece of lint floating through the air. When I read a well-written book, that sort of distraction does not happen.<br /><br />The dialogue... is a joke... It may seem harsh,I laugh at them not because they're funny, but sometimes they're so ridiculously corny, they're funny. It makes the characters seem so flat and and unable to relate to the readers.<br /><br />I really am too lazy to type anymore critisms, since you can read most of them from the other reviwers.<br /><br />Paolini is a very good writer... with practice. So an advice to you Paolini, go to college like you should of did, take some writing courses and then come back with something we can work with.
