Summary: Are You Afraid of The Dark?
Review: Lois Duncan's, Down A Dark Hall, is a mysterious, psychological novel about a girl, Kit, whom has been selected to be part of the private boarding school of Blackwood along with three other girls, Linda, Sandy, and Ruth. As the plot thickens and the girls find out more about this old school, the more they realize why they were chosen to stay at this particualar establishment. With its twists and turns, the story soon becomes not only psychological, but in this case, physical as well. Special talents and sixth senses give this story that uneasy feeling that makes you look around at night when in bed. Overall, this story is great and keeps your nose in the book, but also makes you want to put it down so you will sleep at night. I would generally recommend this to grade levels six through eleven.

Summary: YOU CAN'T PUT THIS BOOK DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: Kit went to boarding school (Blackwood) while her parents were away on a honeymoon. The owner is Madam Duret. She had 4 students, Kit, Sandy, Linda, and Ruth. They each found out they had a talent that they didn't know they had. Strange and bad things happen and the book becomes an exciting thriller.

I think it was a really great book because it kept me wondering what would happen next. I would keep looking behind me to see if anyone was there I was so scared. I wondered if Kit would ever get out of there. I could picture the way Madam Duret looked and I knew how scared Kit must have been. This book was excellent and I recommend it to other readers.

Review: I thought the book was good because it was scary and I did not know what would happen next after a cliff hanger at the end of the chapters. In the middle of the book it got really good and good things started to happen. Then the end came and it did not say what happened at the end of the book.

Summary: My Favorite Lois Duncan book
Review: Down a Dark Hall is my favorite Lois Duncan book. Even from the first, the book drew me into the intricate plot. From start to finish, you could have never guessed the ending. It's a story about this girl, Kit, who attended this exclusive school, Blackwood. She's only one of the four "special" students. Along the way, Kit learns about the dangerously eery history about Blackwood, solving mysteries after mysteries and unlocking hidden secrets that could have cost her life and the other students if they had stayed hidden. Down a Dark Hall is truly a gem and I recommend it to anyone who loves a good suspenseful mystery. I couldn't put the book down until I had finished. The ending left me breathless.

Summary: Creepy but unoriginal
Review: I am a big fan of Lois Duncan, and have read a lot of her books. I've had this for awile but never bothered to read it. I picked it up last night. It was a real page-turner, and I sure was scared by the time I was done with it. But I found this book way too similar to Locked in Time, another book by Duncan. I don't want to give the ending away to people who want to read this, so I won't tell you what they were. If you want to read a good Duncan book, check out Stranger With My Face.
