Rating: Summary: Sakura - Episode 1 Review Review: Very beautifully drawn manga. Lovable charecters and exciting story line. Even better than the TV show!
Rating: Summary: A great shoujo manga! ^_^ Review: Another good book from Clamp! If you are a Pokemon, Sailor moon, and Rayearth fan this is for you!! A great master piece from the shoujo colection! ^_^ It's about a ordinary girl that discovers a book with the clow cards inside and the aventure begins.. It's a little bit diferent from the anime (or the TV series) but it's ok. ^_^ Keep looking for good shoujo from Clamp!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful story... if you can read it. Review: Well, what's to say? The story itself is a beautiful work. They tell you about that in a lot of reviews. But the thing that really destroys this book is the downright shameful translation - names are shortened, particularly Yukito (only Toya EVER uses the name "Yuki"). The dialogue itself is completely out of line - I found myself re-reading pages several times. It seems like they literally translated it word-for-word, making matches between each. So it's a little hard to recommend this - if you can overlook the confusing translation, it's great. The art and story are exceptional. It's just, the translation, I can't overlook.
Rating: Summary: Cute, sweet, and badly translated Review: Okay, I love CLAMP. And I hate Mixx, the publishing company. So the story gets 5 stars, the actual physical book gets zero.
Cardcaptor Sakura is the story of an ordinary ten year old girl, Sakura, who makes an extraordinary discovery. One day, in her father's library/basement, she discovers a book that's making an odd noise. When she opens it, she accidentally unleashes a deck of magical cards that, when not controlled, cause mayhem and madness in the world. In order to stop that, Sakura must become a Cardcaptor, whose responsibility is to capture and control the cards. She does this along with the help of Tomoyo, her sweet, slightly obsessive best friend who likes to make Sakura costumes, and Kero, the slightly attitudinal, absolutely adorable, and stuffed-animal like guardian of the Clow Cards. The cast of characters also includes Rika, Chiharu, Naoko, and Takashi Yamakazi, Sakura's other friends, Touya, her older brother who has a sister complex, and Yukito, his sweet, gentle best friend, both of whom are GORGEOUS!!!! (I am SUCH a fangirl ^_^) The plot is cute and sweet, and is fraught with slight hints of homosexuality, but is still one of the most innocent things I've ever read. The artwork is beautiful, as CLAMP's work always is.
Why, oh why did Mixx get the rights to this? The translations are terrible, they shortened the names in several instances (Yukito is changed to Yuki, a nickname which only Touya uses). The print is blurry and so are the covers, and the pages fall out really easily.
All in all, Cardcaptor Sakura is a wonderful series, but get the Kodansha bilingual books. They're $8 more, but worth the money.
Rating: Summary: An amusing and different read from ordinary manga. Review: At first glance, "Cardcaptor Sakura" looks like nothing more than a crossbreed between "Sailormoon" and "Pokemon". The truth is that this manga series is far from that! Anyone who loves or is familiar with CLAMP's style will recognize the artwork found in this manga series. While it isn't the best example of artwork when compared to those of "X/1999" and "Magic Knight Rayearth", "Cardcaptor Sakura" still looks good. The depiction of characters is very well done (especially if the character happens to be one with long hair). And CLAMP always knows how to make scenes go from dead serious to slapstick comical with smooth transition. The translation is also well done, although, I admit, I'm not an expert at manga translation. I can say with certainty that while it might not be the best translation in the world, it's far better than the translation of "Mobile Suit Gundam Wing". TOKYOPOP's familiar name altering habit is also found here, but it's not as obvious as it is in "Magic Knight Rayearth". The bottom line: the translation is good enough to satisfy everyone except perfectionist purists. The story of "Cardcaptor Sakura" might seem a little familiar and boring, but it is far from that. Oh, sure, it resembles the "collecting/fighting of monsters" theme found in other anime/manga like "Pokemon" and "Sailormoon", but if you take the time to read this manga carefully you'll see it's actually a standout, even a near mockery, of those other series! CLAMP's twisted humor is funny and enough to make "Cardcaptor Sakura" stand apart from other boring manga. It's also not afraid to deal (although lightly) with some mature themes such as homosexuality and young marriage. All in all, "Cardcaptor Sakura" is one of CLAMP's best works that is a must for any serious manga fan's collection. While it appears shojo, both boys and girls can enjoy this manga. And while it is very different from the anime series, this manga has very little chance of disappointing.
Rating: Summary: Great Book! Review: This is the manga version of the popular tv series Cardcaptor Sakura. This book starts from the middle of the maze card to the end of the glow card. I love this series, as it goes a bit deeper into character personalitites. ou'll love this if you kinda liked Sailor Moon or something around those lines. This series, however, also has a boy character, which is what Cardcaptors(dubbed) focuses on, butchering the series horribly. This is the original uncut version of the manga, too. And last: ...
Rating: Summary: My Thoughts >_< Review: The story is very cute, starting out with Sakura the main character. Kero, the little guardian, is the cutest thing on earth!! I was hooked, and as I read some of the other volumes, I ( and still am!) anticipating more depth in Sakura and Li's relationship!!
Rating: Summary: Cardcaptor Manga Rocks!!!! Review: Sakura is at it again and she is doing great! She meets a mysterious kid named Li who has some relation to the Clow Cards, (??) and catches many new cards, a must read for Cardcaptor fans.
Rating: Summary: I like it Review: I really like CCS. It's not going to win any emmys but it's a nice cute light read. I really think if you like sailor moon, st. tail umm...peach girl miracle girls, shojo manga in general you'll like this. It does get more serious as it goes on and there is an anime english dub, but after I saw the way sailor moon was butchered I try not to watch many dubs. Anyway, this manga is A-O.K. for all ages. Thank you for reading my worthless opions.
Rating: Summary: I loved it. Review: I love Cardcaptor Sakura. Clamp is such a talented group of ladies. In this book Sakura captures the cards Shield and Mirror. At the end of the book you see Sakura, Tomoyo, and Li seeing a maze. There it ends, too bad. I wish these mangas were just alittle bit longer, oh well.
