Review: Kodocha (Short for Kodomo No Omocha which means Child's toy) tells the unique story of Sana and her life as a child star, and a student. How ever one person ruins her life daily, Hayama, whom she calls "The Demon". You do not really get to many stories like that, it reminds me of an odd day dream I would have a young child. But its more then that, the characters actully devolop VERY well, and this is only the first volume, Sana and Hayma always remind me of Amuro Rei and Char Aznable from "Mobile Suit Gundam" an there is a real chemistry between this characters, as their relationship changes from rivals, to more friendly terms, its quite interesting to read through. There are also other neat characters, like Sana's "gigilo", that relationship is interesting because when they ask Sana if she knows what a gigolo is she explains how she pays him to spend time with her, Sana's mom is a real interesting character, probably because she has an animal living in her hair. As the book progresses it begins to deal with some serious issues, including things like depression and suicide.Would I suguest this? Yea, but I do not really suguest getting this for young children, becuase it eventaully deals with issues like depression and suicide.

[ ps: even though it may seem kid - ish ... it really isnt. it starts out that way, but then the characters and the plot matures. i highly reccomend this book to romantic comedy fans ] other mangas you'd like : maramlade boy // fushigi yugi // wild act [ for older teens ] // and kare kano [ his and her circumstances ]
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Not too shabby! (The English version, that is.) Review: Kodomo no Omocha (Kodocha) is one of *the* best manga there is, but a lot of its humor has to do with culture jokes or word-plays on the Japanese language, so translating this series would of course be a difficult task. However, it was done well! Yay! Now all English-only people can enjoy Kodocha's craziness! (They even kept the Hayamoth story in this volume, although they changed it to Hayama Monster. They also kept in the tiny story about how Sana's Mama met Maro-chan [the chipmunk] and Miho Obana's sidetalks are included, too!) Now that I've analyzed the translation (it's not perfect, but that would be impossible. It's definitely so much better than I expected!), on with the plot! Kodocha is about Sana-chan (Sana), a child star. The story starts out with Sana's problems with Hayama, a kid who won't stop bullying the class and is often called a devil. Once Sana-chan stops Hayama from disrupting the class, she finds out *why* he's been a bully and sets out to fix it. (The first volume ends here.) The rest of the series, 10 volumes total, is filled with humor, angst, and romance. Kodocha is definitely one of the funniest mangas I've ever read (and I'm sure *everyone* would agree!), but it's also one of the most serious. A lot of very deep issues are addressed throughout the series, so be ready to laugh til your chest explodes while also shedding some tears (and yelling at the characters for doing certain things. So much angst! But don't worry, you won't be disappointed!). So, I *highly* recommend Kodomo no Omocha. I've read lots of manga, and Kodocha is my second favorite out of all of them. Although it's a shoujo (girl's) manga, I think guys might be able to enjoy it, too. (But be warned: There *is* romance, although the romance increases as the series progresses so there isn't much in the first volume.) If you love a good story and need a laugh (and cry! Or maybe it's just me =)), definitely get Kodocha. This series didn't become popular for nothing! =) My one regret: Rei-kun's called a gigolo in the translation! I think pimp worked better. Oh well, we can't have everything. =) At least they kept that in! Now, go read Kodocha, it's awesome!

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Sana the Super Star of Kodomo No Omocha (Kodocha)! Review: This is a really cool book. It starts with Sana going to school. She tells us about Akito Hayama, who she calls "super-jerk", "scum of class three", and"all around idiot". One day the teacher calls Sana in to his office, not because she's in trouble, but because he needs her help. He told her that Hayama was black- mailing him with a rather imberising photo of him and and another teacher making out. Sana tells him everything will be okay. Like Sana says "an eye for an eyeball and a tooth for a toothball. What kind of evil sceam could she have plotted to get the photo back? Why, get a piture of Hayanma with his pants down, of course!!! How does she plan to do it? By asking Hayamas best friend ,Tsyoshi, for help. Tsuyoshi agrees because he has a crush on Sana, and thinks if he helps her with hayama, it might help his chances with her. Does this sounds halarios to you? That may be because it is! This is only a small section of #1 thought. ): To find out all the other stuff I left out that makes it even more helarius, buy Kodocha , Sana's Stage #1 (of 10) today!!!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Woot! Review: This is one of the best anime's ever, in my opinion. Many people call it Marmalade Boy on crack... It may be, but it is better than Marmalade Boy because it deals with issues people really have (well, some anyway).
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: WOW! Review: This manga series is really cool, and one of the best manga comedy series I have read! I love the notes also that the author has written in her books, I love reading about where she gets here ideas and insperation or whatever else she gots to say!
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Not as "young" as it sounds Review: Well, first off, it's hard to put down. It kept me reading with its fast pacing mile-a-minute humor and tension (alternating with little warning). You've probably already read the plot. It sounds like a story for kids but really it's better suited, I think, for teens or older. Just the way it switches from funny to scary could be a little ... weird for kids. (Maybe kids are more mature than I think?) But, there's definitely four or five disturbing scenes, violent in a very non-funny way. (e.g. kids threatening teachers, and threatening or trying to hurt each other in kind of scary ways.) Saying that, it's an engaging and often hilarious read, but it is rated 13 + for a reason, even if not all people would agree with my analysis. I would also say that the sidebars by the author are funny and interesting, but again not the best influence for kids. (Author talks about how she is so much happier being stupid than she was when she was a good student, and laughs about getting drunk with a friend.) Again, not the worst stuff in the world, but if you're thinking of getting it for a little kid because it sounds like a "young" manga, please consider getting it for yourself instead, and then sharing it with kid(s), if you think they would be able to handle it. Really, it's not as young as it sounds, and I enjoyed it. Just thought I should mention this. And, it's not all violent; it comes to a very sweet ending.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: YAY!! Three cheers for an amazing manga :-) Review: WHoo Hooo! Kodocha is the best manga written!! This is about a girl named Sana, she is a child T.V star living in Japan. If you thought you had it bad in your school just wait 'till you read Kodocha. A bully named Akito is harrassing teachers and students. Sana and her friends haven't done school work in months. Sana finnally gets extremely fed up with what is going on so she tries stopping Akito, and boy is that gonna be hard. First off he has a huge following, or as Sana calls it his "Monkey Group" second off he is extremely strong and not afraid of hurting girls. -Sorry I'm probably revealing a little too much. Anyways the reason I love Kodocha is becuase the characters are just so darn hilarious. The all have there own kooky traits and personalities so you feel like you actually know them. I also like the drawings. They're not amazing but they're sone with so much detail and personal style so they're fun for the eye. Kodocha takes a very long time to read because there is so much fine print and hilararious background drawings. The beginning of the first book is a little strange and confusing, but so is most manga and anime when you first start it. Over all I love Kodocha but my one problem with it is that the covers are so corny. Do NOT be fooled by the terrible front covers. Kodocha is hilarious for pretty much all ages mabye 11+ You're gonna have to stick with this wonderful characters. All in all there is 10 Kodocha's in Japanese but sadly at this moment (2/24/2003) there is only 5 out in English GRRRRRRRRR. The first one is probably my 3rd favorite of the ones I have read, meanign Kodocha just gets better and better. YAY go out and buy it today:-) The hilarious side pannels are great also, don't forget to read these.
