Rating: 5 stars
Summary: One Handbook for Life
Review: Dobson targets readers between the ages of sixteen and twenty-six in the package of his ongoing life's work, studying and teaching the basics of life: money, love, emotions, opportunity, God's will, sin, suffering, and eternal questions.

Life on the Edge is both theologically and psychologically sound, as well as EXTREMELY practical and easy to read. A tremendous kick-start to any interest in personal growth.

Summary: Why is it important to follow God's will
Review: Dr. James Dobson opens the reader's eyes in this short, but potent work. I read this book in just one afternoon; in this time my view about my future and my own personal goals and aspirations was altered significantly.

Learning how to fit God into my future is one of the most difficult problems that I, as a Christian, struggle with. Reading this book helped me to realize how important it is that God not fit into my agenda, but rather, my agenda should fit around God's.

Please understand that this book will not give you an easy pathway to God's will for your life. It will, however, give to you the reason why it is so important that your life be focused around God. As Christians, we know that God's will is best for our future. However, as humans it is in our nature to do what we want and feel is best for our own life. Dobson's goal in this book is help the reader realize that in the long run of life, it is not our own meek achievements that will matter; in fact they will soon be forgotten. He succeeds in illustrating that searching for and following God's will is the only way that any person can hope to have a life of satisfaction and significance.

Summary: The best book to read for teens and beyond
Review: I have read this book when I was 13 and again when I was 16. I think that this book is the best resouse (after the Bible) for young adults who face the issue of what to do with their lives. This is THE survival guide for teens. It helpes you not to mess up in you teen years, and to build a Christ centered life, that will "go the distance". This is a MUST read for 16-26 (and around that age group). This book has set my life in the direction that God wants me to go. It really changed my life.

Summary: Thank you Dr. Dobson
Review: I haven't read a book with this much wisdom since the Bible! Everything from God's will for us, to romance, to education is discussed. I withdrew from a secular college, knowing that it was what I had to do...but felt better about it after reading this book, and finding out why secular educations usually don't make the grade.

Shortly after my girlfriend and I started dating, she gave me this book to read. I couldn't have asked for a better book to read whenever it comes to understanding romantic relationships in such a compact way. In a seemingly short amount of pages, Dobson opened my eyes to realizations about relationships that had never occurred to me before.

Dobson intended this book to be for readers in the ages of 16-26. If you are in that age range, don't miss out! Read this book.

Summary: For a Young Adult's Journey Between Adolescence & Adulthood
Review: I read this book as a young Christian in high school a number of years ago. Dr. Dobson's practical advice and principles have been helpful to me through the following years in my decision-making and in facing issues as a young adult. This book is his effort to help the next generation bridge the chasm between adolescence and adulthood.

Dr. Dobson is a godly man of God and a Christian counselor with years of experience and expertise on issues of the family and child development. One of the things I like of this book is its down-to-earth, practical style. His tone is not preaching down to, but rather, able to relate well with the younger generation which makes this book an enjoyable read for young people. I gave this book to a friend of mine who doesn't normally enjoy reading Christian books and she finished cover-to-cover in a matter of two days.

Dr. Dobson targets and confronts the defining issues young adults face in the "critical decade" (ages 16-26): The keys to lifelong love (principles and recommendations for selecting a life partner), vocation/career, money, success, pornography, overcoming inferiority feelings, getting along with parents, emotions (can we we trust them?), suffering, etc. Most importantly, Dr. Dobson confronts the eternal issues to young people--why we are here and where we are going (death and afterlife). In the end of some chapters, he devotes some space to answer common questions that may be asked in response to his advices regarding love, premarital sex, "safe" sex, finding God's will, homosexuality, etc. (i.e. Is there such a thing as love at first sight? Is it possible for me to love someone and not feel it?)

Young adults who read and apply the principles in this book may save themselves from wrong decisions--decisions that will impact them for the rest of their life. This book is an excellent guide filled with practical godly advice to prepare and equip young adults who're crossing the bridge between adolescence and adulthood.

Summary: I couldn't believe it!
Review: I started reading this book in the middle of a relationship with a girl I broke up with last year and am now JUST over. Why did it take me so long? I was VERY stubborn. I didn't want to believe what I read. The idea that this exciting feeling of "love" I was feeling might not be love? But then I went back and read more carefully and took time to think about what it said. My eyes openned! This is a breathtaking book. I carry it with me as a reference. Silly, one might think, but it has served to help many around me (considering I'm in high school). Two of my Christian friends are in a relationship. They are VERY Godly people, but they were having difficulties. One was discontented because she didn't have space. The other was confused because he wasn't getting comunication. I pointed out a few things from this book (mainly the "hand A and hand B" concept conveying space) and they understood their problems. It has helped numerous others and has given me an understanding of the people and situations aroung me. God Bless Dr. Dobson. I'm seeing a young lady now (a new person who apreciates my thinking), and I intend to give this book as a gift. Like someone said earlier-I think this should be required reading for teens everywhere.
