Summary: The Best Book Ever
Review: I think this book was really good. I loved it, as a matter of fact. Although it scared me to death, I can't help the curiosity that's getting to me to learn about everything that Jay seemed to be interested in. I think that everyone should read this book, whether they're teenagers or not. In fact, I'm even making shure that my mom reads it! The book really helped me to see something about myself, while also seeing something so scary but is a part of reality. It scares me even more to read something so scary that is reality, that really happened to someone...that they wouldn't make up for their own consciousness. But I think that this scariness brought upon me and upon other people will help sometime in our daily life, and I think that reading this book will pay off totally sometime...

Summary: A Should-Be Classic.
Review: I read this book (for the first time) in junior high school. Supprised at the summary on the back, I picked it up and read it. I must say, it has a great power and influence to it. The story of Jay touched me from beginning to end. Through his theft of drugs, to this occoultism, to his final entry and the note from Jay's mother. It's a phenominal psychological thriller. I, myself, being pagan definetly agree that this book could scare people out of the 'dark side' of The Craft, and I wouldn't reccomend it to anyone who isn't mature. But I garuntee you, if you pick this book up, you won't be able to put it down or stop thinking of it. It's a wonderful book that I think people of all backgrounds and relegions would love.

Summary: Story is true, i grew up in his hometown
Review: I grew up in pleasant grove. My best friend's mother went to school with "jay" whose real name is... On the night that he married his girlfriend in the cemetary, there was a school dance, and everyone was talking about it. She recalls talking with him. She told me he was always talking about his "other religions" and his "experiments with the devil." So to anyone who doesnt beleive this story is true, think again.

Summary: brilliant
Review: I read this book many years ago and have never forgotten it. It definitely scarred me away from having anything to do with the occult. Many teenagers have natural curiosities about things and if they investigated them themselves they can end up harming themselves but books like these show the real danger. These kids were living in turmoil and absolute horror of the kind you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy. A lot of kids think that ouija boards and other things to do with the occult are fun but this book show how things can easily go too far. Once read this book is not easily forgotton,

Summary: tragic tale--beautifully told...
Review: His story broke my heart... i would recommend this to anyone who wants to get a glimpse through the eyes of a lost soul... This truly does make you come to terms with your religion (whatever it may be) by making you NOT want what Jay got out of life. It was a hard-read at times, i actually wasnt able to read it at night! it took me only two days to read it though... once you start it... you NEED to finish it... every page was haunting--and i often found myself (if i put it down) unable to do anything BUT think about it.... anyways, His death was NOT in vain... I gained alot from his story... as i hope others will.

Summary: Horrible, and great all in one.....
Review: This book is terribly tragic, and teaches a great lesson......IF you are brave enough to read it. This is the scariest book, or movie I have ever encountered in my life. Nothing has ever scared me so bad as this book. I was reading it at night, and I actually only had about 7 pages left, but i couldn't finish it, because it was too scary. I actually slept with a light on, and couldn't sleep for half an hour. I DO NOT recommend this book to anyone under the age of 18. Thanks, and Good luck reading it. But, don't say you weren't warned......

Summary: ...
Review: I have a difficult time believing this "journal" is authentic.

The longer I read, the more outrageous the story became. By the end of the book, I was left completely incredulous.

Aside from the almost outlandish instances of voodoo, demonic possession, and apparent satanic murder, it is totally beyond me how a person with a 149+ IQ can be so devoid of common sense.

"Jay" (or is it Alden Barrett?) is supposed to be a competitive athlete, a science fair whiz, a national debate champion, a Boy Scout, a dancer, and a regular church-goer.

Yet this is the same brilliant overachiever who, over several months, was substituting white powder pills in his dad's pharmacy to supply his drug-addicted girlfriend, oblivious of the fact that he was endangering the lives of his dad's customers. Clearly this indicates a level of irrationality that completely goes against the quick, analytical thinking skills needed to be the acclaimed debate competitor that he was.

As a novel and horror thriller, "Jay's Journal" would rank up with the best of Stephen King and H.P. Lovecraft. But to market this as a "true" story aimed at young teens is tantamount to criminal fraud.

Summary: It's the raw truth
Review: The first time I read this book I was 14 and since then i have read it a few more times. I like it becasue I love reading journals that people have writen in over a period of time. It just shows you all the negative things the world has to offer and how they can effect you if your not careful.
