Rating: Summary: The sad inevitable fact Review: This book is an autobiography about an unwanted child named Adeline. In this book, Adeline was abused by her family and loathed by her siblings for her mother's death. After her father remarried, her stepmother kicked her out of the house and sent her to a boarding school under the communist's control. No one in her family cared for her except her Grandfather and her aunt. Adeline's parents simply ignored her no matter what despite the fact that she was doing extremely well in school. She always gets the worst no matter what, for example, when her relatives sent a box of ducklings for a present, she got the smallest one. This book is so sad that it can bring tears to your eyes at ease. Imaging living in a world where your parents doesn't even know your name and birthday. When I read this book I was so angry at her parents about the way they treated her. Sometimes I wonder, why didn't Adeline commit suicide or something, what's the point of living when no one cares for you. I think this book is very inspirational because Adeline never gave up no matter how worse things are. When I was reading this book, I was biting my own finger because the events are so sad and pisses you off. This book is the only autobiography book I ever liked, in fact it's so good that I read it twice.

It is a true story of an unwanted daughter, Adeline Yen Mah. She was neglected by her family for they thought she was bad luck-her mother died when giving birth to her. For years, Adeline went through the torture of her stepmother, until finally, at once, she had a chance to leave and be successful. Her key was because of her grandfather Ye Ye, who had encouraged Adeline to enter a contest. She had won, making her father believe, that it was the right thing to send Adeline to England, for she had brought honor to her family name. By this, it gave her a chance to get out of her contained life, forever.
Rating: Summary: Sad and Happy Review: This book, Chinese Cinderella is about an unwanted daughter, Adeline Yen Mah. She had lots of talents and had a nickname called ¡°Scholar¡± at school. Adeline was a hard working, smart girl, but her parents loathed and ignored her. Her Dad and Step mom whipped and accused her about something that she didn¡¯t even know, and her dad once forgotten her name! Even though her parents were cruel ignorant about her existence, she stood up by help from Yeye and Aunt Baba. When I started to read this book, I just fell into it, as if I was Adeline herself. There was quite a few times that I thought I was the unwanted child after I read this book, even though I¡¯m not. While I was reading this book, I felt so sad and furious about how the parents treated her. Even though I was loaded with anger reading this book, I felt so pleased and satisfied, when she finally went to England to study physics at the end. This book had quite a few spelling and grammar mistakes than other books, but the author made it so realistic by the vivid description and the plot. For this book I¡¯ll give 4 stars out of 5, because the feelings and words just went into my heart.
Rating: Summary: A Child Who Was Hated For What She Didn't Do Review: Adeline Yen Mah. Who was she? She had a childhood nobody could've ever imagined. Her bond with her family was no where near perfection. That was why her father had pratically forgotten that she had existed. Why? When she was born, her mother had died giving birth to Adeline. Because of her mother's death, she was unwanted by her family. Even when she had her brothers and sisters wanting to play with her, she was delighted to just hear those words. Can we actually relate this girl to us? I can't even imagine it happening to me. When getting this book, it was another "weird ole'" book to me. But you know the saying: Never judge a book by its cover? Well, I did judge it at first. But I thought to myself, " What can happen to me just reading one page?" Well, I'll tell you what happened. I started to finish my first page when I forgot what I had said. It had grabbed me and I could not stop reading. This book was so tragic and upsetting to me about all the people torturing Adeline, that I just started to yell at the book. This book has also taught me somthing. That something was that I realized how lucky and how fortunate I am to have a family that loves me. If you cant believe me right now, just read one page and you will decide to read on or not. I think you will.

Rating: Summary: Chinese Cinderella Review: Chinese Cinderella isn't the best book but a good book for children like her. I give it 3 stars because the story was too detailed. She included every second about her life. Adeline Yen Mah lived with her father and step mother. But was sent to Sacred Heart Orphange school because nobody wanted her. Adeline's aunt baba, nai nai and yeye cared for her. But wasn't living with her all the time. Her niang (step mother) treated Adenline very poorly and spoiled her own kids. It was an unfair life. But Adeline Yen Mah survived through it. Read Falling Leaves also a true story about her life by Adeline Yen Mah. This book wasn't as sad. But when you read it, you really want to keep reading and never put the book down.
Rating: Summary: A Very Sad Story And Yet It Was Great. Review: First of all, this is the BEST of the BEST book I have ever read. This is a story of an unwanted daughter, her mom died after her birth. Her older siblings began to blame her for the death of their mother. Later on her dad marries another woman and her stepmother was even meaner. This book did not make me happy at all, but sad and mad because of what the stepmother had done. I thought this was one was the saddest story. At first I thought this book probably can¡¦t be true, but yet it has real life pictures. A Very Sad Story And Yet It Was Great.
Rating: Summary: The Story of an Unwanted Child Review: Chinese Cinderella is a story of an unwanted daughter, Yen Jun-Ling (Adeline). Adeline's mother died after giving birth to her, making all her siblings despise her. She lives with the ignorance from her father, hatred from her stepmother, and meanness from her siblings. Even though she brings home great academic reports and awards, her father doesn't give any more attention. Instead, her stepmother accuses her of showing off and her siblings get mad at her for being a goody-goody. Even though Adeline has to cross the river with all these crocodiles, she also has borders to step on, to help her get across. Some of these borders were her grandfather Ye Ye, her Aunt Baba, and her beloved pet duckling PLT. Thanks to them, Adeline reaches her goal in the end. This story really reached my heart and made me realize how fortunate I am to have such a caring family. I wouldn't say I enjoyed it, because most of the time, I was seething with anger at Niang, Adeline's stepmother, for treating her so terribly. In fact, there were few moments when I smiled and many when I cried. Sometimes, I felt so helpless just sitting and reading the book, and not being able to help Adeline. Sometimes I felt like I WAS Adeline, and could actually feel the pain and loneliness she must have felt. It was a wonderfully written story, and an unforgettable one. In fact, I'll always remember this story and keep it close to my heart.
Rating: Summary: READ THIS BOOK! Review: The book Chinese Cinderella is about how a neglected and despised daughter of a wealthy family found a way to live through all her miseries and finally succeed in life. Adeline Jun-ling Yen had known happier days before her father¡¦s second marriage. After the marriage, however, her father promptly forgot all about Adeline, her name, her birth date, and her very existence. Adeline was not better off with her siblings, her step-mother, her step-sister, and step-brother; all of them treated Adeline was contempt, mockery, and teased her in the cruelest ways. The only people in her family that Adeline could trust was her grandfather and aunt, and both of them helped Adeline believe that she was actually worth something. Even though she struggles everyday with her family life, Adeline was always at the top of her class in school and was nicknamed by her friends ¡§Scholar.¡¨ Meanwhile, the Communists of the war were forcing everybody to become poorer and live a much harder lifestyle. I thought that this book was incredible. I hated Adeline¡¦s cruel family members and the way that they cold-heartedly treated Adeline. I was very glad that Ye Ye (grandfather) and Aunt Baba helped Adeline a lot. Adeline harbored the pain that her family gave her and in the end, was able to live a happy life of her own. I give this book five stars. I am sure you will enjoy this book.
