Rating: Summary: Always Running is one of the best books that I have read. Review: Always Running is a story about what truly goes on in the barrios of Los Angeles. Rodriguez gives very detailed descriptions of the different violence, racism, drug usage, and the constant deaths that occur because of gangs. I like the way that Rodriguez wrote the book because I could relate to what happened. I have personally witnessed similar actions that occured in the story. I know how it feels like to live in a neighborhood with drugs, violence and discrimination. Some people that live in the hoods want to run away from it all and start a new life without drama. I recommend this book to teenagers aged 13-18 or anyone that would like to read about the life of living in the hood. Always Running is a book that is worth reading.
Rating: Summary: Tough Reality Review: "Always Running" by Luis Rodriguez is a capturing story about life in Los Angeles where gangs and crime are a way of life. A young boy, of only twelve years of age, witnesses some of the most unimaginal injustices, crime, punishment, violence, murder, drugs, and lost of loved ones due to street gangs. Luis Rodriguez, writes his experiences without holding back and expresses vividly what he went through as a young boy and how he managed to get out of the gang life and later become a brillant chicano poet. This book is a "must read" book and is a masterpiece for all ages.
Rating: Summary: what cought my attention Review: Never have I picked up a book and read it on my own. At the age of 18, you would think that I've read plenty of books. Well I quess your wrong. My Lit. Comp teacher recommended this book to me and I'm glad she did. What cought my attention was how a Latin teenager turned his complete life around. what made more happy was how he put a positive attraction on the Latin community. I give alot of credit for the author for what he did and what he accomplished.

Rating: Summary: Reality Review: this book makes you think twice and I know that Luis has changed many lives with this book by all the deaths of homeboys, drug use, violence and the racism.Twenty-five deaths was alot and just because of the different barrios, violence, drugs, racism and for being colored. This book makes you think;" Is that what you want for your future or for your kids?" When you read this book it makes you want to change your life around, because of those 25 deaths and you know that sooner or later it won't be 25(it could be you or even worse your kids), it will be 26 or even more by the time you turn your head."Put your foot down and say no more violence and drugs be smart and turn your life around before it's too late.It doesn't matter who you are or where you come from you can be successesful just like Luis.I give props to Luis for writing such a great book.

To tell You the Truth reading this book brought some memories that I went Through. This Book You gotta read, its reality what people have to go through living in the streets. Rating: Summary: LA VIDA LOCA Review: This is one of the most fascinating books Luis J. Rodriguez has ever written. It should be on the top of every teenage students reading list. The story consists of many heartwarming and soul ripping facts about being a hispanic boy growing up in a community of many challenges, ranging from isolation in school and fitting in with a so called family of "GANGS". I would surely recommend anybody who is interested autobiographies to check out this non-fiction book to read and cherish.
Rating: Summary: Drugs, Love, Lust, and the seven deadly SINS Review: I enjoyed this book throughly. I thought it was a great story of how those who are pushed to live impoverished lives and make certain decisions about their life. I could relate emensly to this book, except for the gangs, and being spanish. I know what it is like to be pushed into the streets and see these vivid images others only dream about. When I read this book, I felt like I was right there in the life of Luis J. Rodriguez. I think this is abrilliabnt story that any teen lining thier vida loca, then they need to check this book out!
Rating: Summary: What a great book! Review: I am usually not one to be found reading nonfiction novels, but I think "Always Running: La Vida Loca: Gang Days in L.A." is a very accurate and interesting account of the life of a young man that is involved in a gang in L.A. It tells about his experiences in the gang and what it was like to be living in that area at the time. The author also included a small dictionary/reference to the Spanish words he referred to in the story. What really made "Always Running" interesting, however, was that the author was also the main character! I really enjoyed "Always Running" and would highly recommend it to you! I gave Luis J. Rodreguez`s book about gang days in L.A. all five stars, which it deserved.
Rating: Summary: Good book Review: This is an OK book, if you want to read about police brutality and cruelty, drugs and gang violence. "Always Running" is about the life of a boy (Luis J. Rodriguez) growing up in the ghetto. It is pretty interesting, but not the best book there is. Because after a while it gets boring. You start to lose all interest in the book, and then it gets interesting again. His father once said, "I will never go back to Mexico, I would rather starve here (in L.A.)." If his father had decided to go back to Mexico none of this would have happened. Then there would have been no book and I wouldn't be writing this report. And who knows what ways all of our lives would be changed.
