Rating: Summary: My view on Always Running Review: My favorite book was Always Running. It was a very interesting book because it talks about reality. In this book they talk about gangs and influences. The young man in the book is involved in a gang and they smoke, fight, drink and get into trouble. This reminds me of real life. Everyday i see at least one person getting in trouble and smoking. The reason why i think people do these things is because they are trying to be like others and fit in with them. They are so unsure of themeselves. Their not confident, they thik that by being like others they would be accepted by others.<dd>In the book it also talks about the father who was a principal and was then some type of lawyer who fell in love with his secretary who he then married and became the mother of his other kids. He had been married already. Now a days there are couples who meet in many different ways and who have a big age difference. Its like nothing to see a 25 year old man with a 17 year old girl. The tough part is when the police find out, they can get arrested (the older one). <dd>The way that the kids in this boo are throwin their live's away makes me think! Why do they do this? What are they going to get out of it? maybe like I mentioned before they want to fit in with the others, but why? there has to be more reasons. They are probably running away from other problems. For example maybe they have problems with their parents or brothers. Maybe they dont have parents, They might not have anyone to talk to or to turn to but the ones who are using those nasty things. They might feel like they can relate to them and feel loved. <dd>Its hard being a teenger, there is a lot of pressure. The thing that i want everyone to know is that they have to be leaders not followers. Then again it might be easy to say but it might not be easy to do. <dd>Anyways my point is that this book was really good and it made me think a lot about life. It made me see the problems of others. It made me wanna get to know everyone better and give them advice.
Rating: Summary: Always Running Review: Always Running is an excellent book especially if your a minority in a position like Luis. The big movement in this book was the trip to cross the boarder fom Mexico to America to live a better life and find jobs. This book portraits the struggle, proverty and discrimination Luis's family had to face.Luis found friendship and love in a L.A. gang and ran the streets causing trouble. The fustration of handling racism made Luis angry and grew hatred inside of him.Other than that the book is very interesting.
Rating: Summary: Always running Review: <dd> the book Always running is a very interesting book. I think it relates to a lot of things that is happening in our lives today. A lot of kids are involve in gangs, they are shooting a lot of people. they have to watch their families and friends get killed. And most of them are taking drugs. The story always runnung does not apply to me and i Thank God for that.As for my brother he is not in a Gang yet, or have a weapon yet, But his action shows that he is heading that way and my mother is trying to stop that from happening by sending him to boot-camp. A lot of parents now a days does not dicipline their kids, they are always saying that he/she's too young, it's never too early to start teaching a child right from wrong. When he or she is 15 years old and out of control it's going to be too late you will not be able to gain control, or respect. <dd>There are several things that i learn from reading this book. One of the things it shows me was the kind sign that can make me realize that my child is in some kind of problem.Yes this story does have something to do with my social justice group. It's shows that if you don't go to school and do what you have to do, there a 95% chance that you might become homeless.
Rating: Summary: Five stars for Always Running Review: The book Always Running written by Luis Rodriquez was a great book I give five stars because it was a great book that spoke about the gangster lives. This book was based on Luis Rodriquez real story as he lived through the gangster days and how he had lost many of his friends from the gangs. This bok explained the lives of people who lived in poor and hard streets and it showed how each of them survived no matter what. What I liked the most was the way he expressed himself it showed he had lived all he explained because he truely made us picture all he went through. As a young boy he lived a very hard life because as his parents were having problems, he dragged out to the streets. The book was based on the streets and how the streets took over the customs. I give this book five stars for having such interesting topics and for focusing on life itself. I will recommend this book for every one who seems to be dragging the wrong way and would relize how life could always bring you back up.
Rating: Summary: Always Running Review Review: I feel that the book, Always Running, was very well written. Luis Rodriguez painted pictures in your mind with very descrpiptive comparisons about the things that he went through. I felt that in some sense everyone can relate to this book and some of the things that he went through on some level or another. Rodriguez put me in the book with him with his articulate words. This book dealt with real life and the discriminations that people go through. What I liked about the book is that it gave me another perspective on how some other people lived. It gave me even more insight to my life. I liked this book because it was a real life story; which makes it more believable. I think that this book will be give most people a different perspective on life and will change peoples attitudes towards their surroundings.

Rating: Summary: final review Review: To me this was a very insperational book. The book was pretty much self explanatory. What I got from this book was a very good view at a differnt life. The family that this book was about were very poor. They pretty much moved around from neiborhood to neiborhood trying to blend in. The mother always tried to give the kids the best that she could offer. The father on the other hand always seemed a little shaky. The kids pretty much lived their lives to the best that they could. The daughters meet new people and had all the fun that they could have. The sons just stayed together and also just had fun. All together I feel that the book deseverd the rating that it got. I never would have know that people that are not as well off as others live the way that the family on mango street lived.

Rating: Summary: A 5 star book! Review: This book had to be one of the best books that I have ever read. The reason I enjoyed it so much was because it was so real and so true, not a lot of Authors write these type of books. It is real and true and it might be something you can or can't relate to, but regardless if it relates to you, this book is great. If you have the chance to read a book this year make sure it is "Always Running" by Luis J. Rodriguez.
