Rating: Summary: Defending Annelie Review: I was beyond disgusted with some of the readers' comments on this extrodinary and tender book! What makes Anne so special is that she was given an exceptional gift to portray a love for life, a life which she herself tried to make vivid, and that she does through her diary. Most girls DO NOT and CAN not write so as Anne was. Do you think anyone could possibly write, not yet 15, that she 'can see the world gradually turned into a wildnerness, hear the ever present roar of thunder'? Most of us would scrawl out with fear and hopelessness, "Everything is just soooo messed up and I feel plain rotten!" How could anyone not learn-and more, love!- this intelligent, vivacious, persistent girl with the dark hair and alive smile? Her words are a life lesson to EVERYONE, and those who do not listen attentively to their echo of sincer wisdom beyond her years shall not grasp the full meaning of humanity, hope, and love in their heart.
Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK IS SO INTERESTING, YOU MUST READ IT! Review: I think this a good book for everyone to read at some point. This book is about a fourteen year old girl and her two years years of life in hiding from the Nazis. It tells about how difficult it was to live in such a small area with little food. This true story is one you must read to know how hard it was for jewish people during the Holocaust. I liked it a lot because it was about a girl my age, and I think it's interesting to see how she felt during that period of her life. It deserves five stars because it was so well written by her through those two years in hiding.
Rating: Summary: It's A Great Book with Lots of Drama and Realism Review: Anne Frank is a remarkable girl who is not given the credit that she deserves. This book contrasted her life as a normal girl and her life as a Jew on the run from the Nazi's. I very highly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: A Great Book - Something Everyone Should Read Review: I am reading Anne Frank's diary for my Language Arts class, but I really enjoy reading it. It makes you think about how lucky we are to live in 1999. Anne was a brave girl and very patient while living in the Secret Annexe. I would recommend it to all people, especially teenagers. There are a couple of gross parts, but the good parts out-number the bad. If you haven't read it - READ IT NOW!!!!
Rating: Summary: a touching and moving account Review: I first read parts of her diary in the 7th grade for a class, and afterwards I went out on my own and bought a copy for myself. With my English not being too strong at the time, I tried to read it and I understood it completely and shed tears at the end. I was her age when she was going through her life in the "secret annex." I too shared and envisioned similar dreams and goals, and for her life to turn in such a way was devastatingly painful for me. I have read the book god knows how many times now, and I have to say that it was one of the most influential books for me. It was when I first learned about genocide and the Holocaust, and it led me to increase my awareness in those issues. Anne Frank's memory lives on because of her diary, and the experience of living in hiding through the Holocaust is also preserved in this precious diary. I recommend it to everyone..
Rating: Summary: The best book there is! Review: I read this book for a literacy report and I ended up with a craving for learning more about Anne Frank and her life. This book is the most touching and heartmoving book I`ve ever read.It has so much feelings and it just makes you almost feel like your feeling the same way as she felt in her diary.Read it and you`ll see what I mean !
Rating: Summary: A wonderful book Review: This book is really wonderful. Anne Frank is to be admired. Although she has some weaknesses, she is still strong and has spirit and hope dispite of the hell going on around her. She will live forever through her diary.
Rating: Summary: Terrific book that depicts life of a teen-age jew during WWI Review: Anne Frank, a typical Jewish teen-ager, that is until the beginning of WWI. In hopes of not getting caught, her family goes into hiding! Joining them area family and then later on an old dentist. She goes through the hard teen-age years in a cramed little hideaway she calls the "Secret Annexe". The struggle of life with many people in a confined area; they can not make a sound or else someone might hear them. After more than a year, they're greatest fear comes true; they are discovered. Luckily they are not shot, but they get shipped like animals to a concentration camp and are divided. That is the last time Otto Frank, Anne's dad, will ever see any of his family again. He is the only surviver of the "Secret Annexe". For his family's funeral, he prints several copies of Anne's beloved diary in which she writes in detail the story of her life, and hands them out to the guests. His friends pursued him to make it a book and he finally did.
Rating: Summary: Real Review: The juxtaposition of Anne's life to any adolescent's is so similar that it is completely unbelievable that her demise could possibly take place. In our relatively sheltered world, to look back on this, knowing it's real, is impossible. There is no redemption, no happy ending. It renders fiction pathetic, with all its pleas to describe pain. This doesn't need to. It just is. I still can't understand how one day one can be peeling potatoes, podding peas, meeting the cat in the attic and then the next, you're in a concentration camp. All in this century too.
Rating: Summary: The Best Diary I've Had!!! Review: So far ,me and my friends have found this book an inspiration to our lives. It portrays joys, misery sadness and love in words few can do.I know that even thought some people might think differently, it is but an individual thought.I sincerely recommend this book to people all ages, races and beliefs.Although the diary is causes much depression it is still worth reading and let the legacy of a young woman continue. In short, all I have to say is that I thoroughly enjoyed this diary.Thank you.
