Summary: A History Lesson in Hate
Review: This story provoked a feeling inside of me I haven't felt in a long time. Beautifully written and sad beyond belief. I strongly recommend this book to those of us out there who haven't felt a strong emotion in a long time and whom strive to be wrapped up in a book much like this. All around wonderful!

Summary: Bad Book!
Review: This was the W-O-R-S-T book I have ever read. I found it very childish and boring. The way that Anne Frank would just go on and on about her problems was really dumb. I hate this book. But that's just my opinion. You'll never know for sure until you read it yourself.

Summary: Total Inspiration
Review: This book... my goodness you really can't sum it up! I think it should be a required reading book for every school in the US. It is very inspirational and I think that after reading this you really realize how much you take for granted. Its a really good book and I reccomend it to anyone who's never read it.

Summary: A poignant book filled with tears and laughter
Review: A lot has been said about "The Diary of Anne Frank." Some people have even claimed that it is a fake, which is an outrageous claim that denigrates those who died in the Holocaust and those that survived. This book is testament to a child's spirit and humanity as she hides in ever deteriorating circumstances with her family in an attic over an office in Amsterdam. We are witnesses to her first kiss with Peter a boy also in hiding, and her stormy relationship with her mother which she tries to resolve often unsuccessfully. We see flares of brilliance as she tries to understand human nature as well as the innocence of youth when she says, "basically I believe most people are good." The Diary of Anne Frank would probably be just an ordinary young girl's memoirs if the Holocaust had not happened. However the Holocaust did happen and Anne Frank's diary stands for all the young girls whose lives were ended before they had a chance to blossom. If any book was to be made compulsory reading in schools then this book should be it. Through Anne Frank we will never forget her humanity or for that matter our own.

Summary: The most moving personal documents to come out of WW II
Review: Discovered in the attic in which she spent the last years of her life, Anne Frank's remarkable diary has since become a world classic -- a powerful reminder of the horrors of war and an eloquent testament to the human spirit. In 1942, with Nazis occupying Holland, a 13 year old Jewish girl and her family fled their home in Amsterdam and went into hiding. For the next two years, until their whereabouts were betrayed to the Gestapo, they and another family lived cloistered in the "Secret Annexe" of an old office building. Cut off from the outside world, they faced hunger, boredom, the constant cruelties of living in confined quarters, and the ever-present threat of discovery and death. In her diary Anne frank recorded vivid impressions of her experiences during this period. By turns thoughtful, moving, and amusing, her account offers a fascinating commentary on human courage and frailty and a compelling self-portrait of a sensitive and spirited young woman whose promise was tragically cut short.

It is a truly remarkable book.

Summary: Young Girl Knows More than Most
Review: Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl tells of a young Jewish girl's experiences through adolescence in the midst of World War II and Hitler's genocide against her people. On her thirteenth birthday, she was given a diary in which to write her thoughts and feelings. She, her family, the Van Daan family, and Dr. Dussel tried to adjust to life in the Secret Annexe. Her diary, which she named Kitty, was written from her heart with no superficiality. This makes reading it a great experience. She discussed in the book many issues prevalent in her life as a Jew. She talked about the Zionist movement and the hardships Jews endured in Nazi Germany. They could only shop in certain stores designated for Jewish use. She wrote about her father and sister's fear of deportation, which would have almost definitely resulted in going to a deadly concentration camp. It is a good read because of the way it intertwines childhood and the Holocaust and speaks of both candidly. She wrote about her feelings and encounters with friends and family. She let out her anger at Hitler and described the new reforms that made her life much harder. She thought she had found a good friend in Kitty. Little did she know that one day her story would impact thousands around the world, even if she was only a young girl.

Summary: Anne Frank, an unfortunate story to get the point across
Review: The story of Anne Frank is a story of a young Jewish girl caught up in the turmoil of the Holocaust in the early 1940's. The book is a translation of Anne's diary of the years during this horrible time. Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl tells a vivid story of a Jewish family and their trials and hardships. Anne Frank begins her diary once she receives it for her birthday. She is an ordinary girl living in Frankfort during the 1940's. As she describes it, she has a loving, caring family, great friends, and many admiring boy friends. Her life is turned upside down one day, however, when her ad her family are forced to leave their happy lives and go into hiding. Anne is very talkative and cheerful. She always tries to look on the bright side, no matter how gloomy it may seem. When a person thinks of the Holocaust, they normally think of a time of hardships and suffering. Although this is the case with the Frank family, they lived very comfortably compared to other Jews. They share a hidden house with four other people, called the "Secret Annex." Their house has three floors, so it is fairly roomy considering their situation. The translation of Anne's diary is very accurate and well done. Her entries are very imaginative and give vivid descriptions of everyday life for the Jewish refugees during the Holocaust. The story also shows the Holocaust from a child's point of view and has excellent stories of love and injustice, among other themes. Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl is an excellent book for people of all ages, and should be thoroughly appreciated by every religion for all of the suffering the Jews endured during this time.

Summary: A secret look at an extraordinary diary
Review: This book provides excellent insights into the world of a normal 13 year-old girl who was forced to live under extra-ordinary circumstances. Anne Frank was forced to endure two years of hiding in a secret annex of her father's business during the Nazi hunt for Jews during WWII. Her insights into these facts are historically interesting but what fascinated me was the way she wrote about the everyday things. How the occupants of the secret annex squabbled, what they ate from month to month, what she thought about her friends, etc. Amazing insights from a young girl. And all the while, you already know the end, which makes it all the more intriguing. Well worth your time to read.

Summary: The girl is smart and the Introduction is even smarter
Review: This girl that wrote the diary is just too smart. And it makes us think that she is even smarter to have left a diary behind. It's unbelievable, who would have thought that this could be so useful. Ever feel guilty of invading her privacy? Well, sorry but this is a good good book. THe introduction and everything else that was added onto the diary alone (by editors and other contributing writers) are clear and give a whole extra bacground and base information in better understanding this piece of great literature. I read it in 2nd grade and agin in 8th grade. It's always an awsome story and an awesome lesson to learn. Get it if you have never read it.

Summary: FLOWERS OF THE FIELD DIE..........BUT ALWAYS COME BACK!
Review: Anne Frank was like a flower, growing, budding... but she dies. Remembrance of her comes back through her life written story, in her diary, and her "flower" comes back. This diary was all that she had left, all that she could feel, and experience. She made the best of a bad situation. I don't know if I could have done the same as she did... keep my cool and go forward, not knowing what the future would bring. Anyone who would find this book boring, I would bet, is very self-centered and cannot fathom what it would be like to be in someone else's position. By the way, I saw the movie years ago with all its sights and sounds. Very graphic. This book is a must for any human who cares about others.
