Summary: Although OK for the romantic at heart,...
Review: ...Anne's diary left a lot more to be desired. At best, it helps me appreciate the fact that every life extinguished during the war had a story of its own, most of which never got told. By no means an extraordinary life, Anne's Diary, in my view is over-hyped, about a hopelessly romantic girl, who hoped for the perfect world.

We now know that she was killed within a year after being captured, but quite opposed to my expectaition, there is no account of day-today suffering of the common man in the hands of the Nazis. What is especially disappointing is the is a never-stopping rant of how uncomfortable dear life became for a rich girl, who was hiding with her family from the Nazis. For God's sake, that was war, and Anne was among the very few, who by virtue of the fact that her dad was rich, and well connected, got to live longer (in reasonably comfortable office-home) than many not so lucky Jews. Most of the 14-15 year olds that I know have better common sense than what Anne communicated to me in her diary.

Summary: People as Slaves
Review: I read this book after many of my friends read it. They described it to me as a very sad book. Also, I saw the movie of it on ABC channel 7. I cried at the way they were being treated. When I saw one of my friends with it, I asked if I could borrow it. Luckily, they did.
The main character in this story is Anne Frank. She was a Hebrew girl who lived during the Holocaust. She loved to write in her diaries and keep an open mind. After her and her family were caught by the Germans, they were sent to special "camps" where they were treated like dogs. Still, after being harrassed and violated, Anne remained strong. I really admired her for what she had to be put through. I also felt so bad for her.
I really enjoyed reading this book because it reflects on a true story. Unlike other fictional stories, this is an actual diary of a real girl. As I read the book, I begin to feel her pain and anguish. I actually got a real glimpse of what happened during the holocaust. After reading this book, I felt as though I was really there. I cried for a long time after I finished this book. It was one of the best books that I have ever read.

Summary: Everyone should read!
Review: Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl is an autobiography of a young girl who tells of the time during the Holocaust. Anne writes in a diary that she calls kitty. She tells of all the encounters she faces during the time she hides from the Nazis. They must be quiet while in their secret annex to remain hidden. I enjoyed that this was true but I thought it was long and tedious. I think people who like history would enjoy this book.

Summary: Couragous Story
Review: The diary of this young Jewish girl was about how her and her family had to hide out during the Holocaust when the Nazi's were in power. Her story depicts how they had to flee their home in Holland and reside in Amsterdam, in an old run down office building attic. During the two years of their hiding Anne explains how their were only certain hours in which they could move around, the effects of constant boredom and starvation. The little girls story explains how scary her life was, because her and her family were in constant fear of being found and brought to their death at the concentration camps. The end of the book states that a few years later Anne's father (the only survivor) went back to the attic where he and his family hid for so long before they were discovered and brought to the concentration camps. He discovered the journal that his daughter had kept while looking around the gloomy area.
I liked this book very much. The fact that the little girl vividly explained her life during this time allows the readers to truly understand. I found this story to be very emotional with added to the understanding someone can take from it. The young readers can look into the eyes of someone their own age and that way have a better grasp of her life occurrences.
I am glad that the father chose to publish the diary. With him doing so he allows the world to see what truly happened and what horror the Jewish community was in. This little girls journal shares the hardships as well as the courage needed to overcome the terrible obstacle that the people of this time faced.

Summary: Review of Anne Frank: A Diary of a Young Girl
Review: This book is the diary of a young girl that came from a Jewish family during the holocaust. It talks about her family and how they had to hide out so they wouldn't be captured and taken to concentration camps. She had to live in an attic after fleeing her home so she wouldn't be found and captured by the Nazi troops that were occupying Holland. Anne Franks father was the only one that lived and he returned to their hiding spot. He found Anne's journal there.
I liked this book because it gave a very realistic view of how people had to live in order to stay free from the Nazis. Although they were free from the Nazis that they were not free to live how they wanted. They had to hide out so they wouldn't have to be locked up in a concentration camp and tortured. By viewing Anne Franks diary it tells people what was really going on during the time of the holocaust and that is something everyone should know.
By her diary being published it gives people a look into how horrific things were back then. People couldn't be free to do what they wanted. They were really imprisoned, even those who had not been captured by the Nazis. This is something that everyone should know about and by using her diary it gives you are very up-front look at those times.

Summary: Dramatic Irony in Anne Frank's The Diary of Anne Frank
Review: In Anne Frank’s, The Diary of Anne Frank, Frank captures readers’ attentions by revealing her emotions and appalling experiences that she had in the Secret Annex. Throughout the story Anne Frank expresses her feelings about her company in the Annex and her fear of war. The reader recognizes, even before opening the book, the dramatic irony that awaits them. In one account, Anne writes, “Who else but me is ever going to read these letters?” (63). Immediately the reader knows something that Anne does not. The readers realize that millions of copies of Anne’s Diary have been sold throughout the world, yet Anne has no idea the impact that her diary has made upon others. Also, Anne notes, “I feel wicked sleeping in a warm bed… I get frightened myself when I think of close friends who are now at the mercy of the cruelest monsters ever to stalk the earth” (72). The reader expresses their fearfulness and sympathy for Anne because soon she will be with the “cruelest monsters on earth,” too. The reader feels helpless as they continue throughout the book knowing the horrific experience that Anne is destined to encounter…the brutality and hostility of the Nazi’s, resulting in her death. The audience undergoes comfort when Anne writes about her dream to become a writer and a journalist. She states, “When I write I can shake off all my cares. My sorrow disappears…the big question, will I ever be able to write something great” (246). Through dramatic irony the reader discovers that she has already written something great. They notice that her diary will be recorded as one of the greatest novels written of the Holocaust. Anne’s diary allows readers to realize their pleasures in life and forces them to put their life in perspective. Anne constantly tries to expose the happiness in her life, despite her gruesome experiences in the Annex and compels readers to do the same. As Anne uses her talent in writing to record her experience, she writes, “ I want to go on living even after my death!” (245). Dramatic irony is applied in this statement, since the whole world has witnessed it coming true. Anne Frank’s diary has impacted many with the remarkable accounts it contains. She has accomplished her dream of not only becoming a writer, but has lived on in the hearts of many for over 50 years.

Summary: Deeply affecting story.
Review: I definately reccommend this book. Anne wrote with such vividness that I actually felt I was in the "Secret Annex" with her.She was a truly gifted writer and the emotions she felt(in spite of her circumstances)were so easy to identfy with. This book should be required reading in the schools. Not only does it personify the cruel insanity that was the Holocaust,it is a great book about a remarkable young woman discovering herself and her talent for writing. Just read it.

Summary: Not a better non-fiction book in existence
Review: An innocent's account of the greatest evil imaginable. This is the most powerful book of the century. If one didn't know her fate, one might read it as the reflections of any girl. That one does know her fate makes this as close to a holy book as the century produced. To those reviewers who gave this book anything fewer than five stars: are you completely out of your minds?

Summary: I really liked this Anne Frank book!
Review: I really liked the diary of Anne Frank because it teaches us how hard it must've been to live in hiding for 2 years. It teaches us not to take life for granted, and that we should always look on the bright side of things, just like Anne did. One thing I noticed was how she was so worried about getting found all the time, so scared, but when she finally was found and at a concentration camp, she was happy to be outdoors again. I guess I would've been too. Anyways, I thought this was amazing book even for someone my age, and that everyone should have a chance to read this book, especially younger people around Anne's age. I hope people will want to read this book after they read this review.
