Summary: Very entertaining
Review: This was a great book. I could not put it down. I never knew what was going to happen next. It had a fascinating story with well developed characters.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Intriguing & Disturbing
Review: This was the first OSC book I've read. Now I plan to read many more.

A delightfully intriguing novel, the characters are anything but shallow, and the plot anything but uninteresting. I happen to be a Latter-Day Saint (a.k.a. "Mormon"), and just let me assure you out there that the way witches are portrayed in this book has nothing to do with our religion.

Summary: Wow
Review: Though I think OSC is a good writer, I was surprised at this book. For a good Christian and family man, this book was very sensual and disturbing. There was graphic sex and other things a good writer should not be writing about.

Summary: OSC delights again
Review: Time and agian, I pick up one of Orson Scott Card's books and think "I know this will be good." Yet each time I finish one of his books, I curse myself for not thinking "I know this will be great!"I enjoyed the first 60 pages and then I got hooked and finished the book in one sitting. The simple fact is that Orson Scott Card creates some of the most incredible characters in the history of fiction in almost all of his works. The formula is so simple. Create a character with a strong sense of values (positive or negative) and goals and let that character explore complex "real" world situations. How come there are so few authors who can do this

Summary: Interesting concepts
Review: TREASURE BOX is a little of the old in a modern-day setting. There's a lot of talk about witches and beastly dragons, although the actual action is nothing so medieval-sounding.

At times I found myself feeling a little sheepish about the events in the novel, like, "I can't believe I'm falling for this!" because at times the story felt unbelievable. It was as if everything fell into place a little too conveniently without much of an explanation. The concepts explored are pretty interesting though, like the power some people have to call the dead back.

I still think Orson Scott Card a good writer.

Summary: Definately not Card's best work.
Review: Unfortunately, Treasure Box follows the predictable character development that Card has routinely created in past efforts. The main character's central philosophies are explored and established only to match them up with the character's identical twin. Unfortunately, this gets to be very boring after several hundred pages. Card would do better by steering clear of this bland formula and sticking with the grand themes that make efforts like the Ender trilodgy so effective.

Summary: I am a big OSC fan, but this one disappointed me
Review: Unless you are an avid Card fan, I don't recommend this book. The story is cliched, and all the characters (except Quentin) are too shallow to care about. And the resolution of the conflict at the end is pretty dumb.

I like OSC books, but this one was disappointing.

Summary: Give it a try.
Review: Well this was my book between Enders Game and Enders Shadow, and even with that GREAT book fresh in my mind, (Enders Game), I really enjoyed this one.

Not at all what i expected ,but that is what Mr. Card is best at.

The characters in it where compelling and interesting . You should give it a try it's not his best , but by no means should you miss this one.

Summary: Great book if you're in the right mood.
Review: When you're finished, and trying to piece the plot together, the whole thing seems ludicrous. But there's a great build up to the middle section of this book, and a great fun twisty scare there, out in a graveyard, in the snow, at night, that's the perfect thing to read late on an autumn night after everyone else in your family has gone to bed. For that alone, the book was worth it.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: An Entertaining Read
Review: You know you'll never go wrong with a Card book. They're all entertaining. The first 20-30 pages of this book are enchanting. I couldn't put it down. It was entertaining the rest of the way, but not at the same level.

The climax of the book is rushed, Card compresses it into 20 pages leaving the reader a little shell-shocked. Tension and mystery build..and then it's all over. Not a great book, but a decent read.
