Rating: Summary: More than 5 Stars Review: People who think this book is boring are crrrrraaaaaazzzzyyyyy. This is one of the most exciting books I've ever read. Some people don't like it because the author uses a few bad words and bad grammar. This is historical fiction! It's okay! This is also one of the most violent books I've ever read as well. But the things that happen in this book really happened! And its good that they happen- after the scene where Robert's father and Ira Long have to weasle the dog, they feel sick and say they will never do that again. I read this in sixth grade, and had to read it again this year. I realized a lot more when I read it for the second time. I reccomend this for kids and adults. And yes, there is a plot.
Rating: Summary: A Day No Pigs Would Die Review: I thought that this was an excellent book. It was an easy enough read so that I could read it and I wasn't struggling with the words, yet it wasn't too easy so that I was bored with it. When i first started to read it I was kind of thinking that it was going to be really boring but I got hooked right away! Which doesn't happen really often to me because im not that big on reading books. The book also had lots of good morals, yet it wasn't too serious either, it broke it up with just enough humor to keep it balanced. Overall i'd say that this book deserves 5 stars.
Rating: Summary: Life on the frontlines. Review: This book illustrates what many Americans have experienced growing up on the farm. Life can be both brutal, and gentle. Peck has done a good job showing how close death really is to those not insulated from it as we are. I think that this is a good book to read to the kids.
Rating: Summary: Kristy's Review Review: I think this was a very good book that showed the hardships and lessons learned by a young boy. A young boy who had to grow up and take on the responsibilities of an adult. The book moved smoothly along and had lots of terrific details. I recomend this book to all my friends.
Rating: Summary: A Day No Pigs Would Die Review: The book was about a young farm boy who had to learn to take the responsibility of being a man. Robert is a 12-year-old whose life is doing chores and going to school. He lives on a farm where he has nothing but his pig pinky, no friends to come and play. Robert has to learn to become a man, tend his father's farm, and take care of his mother and aunt, all at the age of 13. I think this was a very powerful book. If you are not touched in anyway by this book I'm sorry.
Rating: Summary: English Class Review: Sitting in class, I thought, "Oh, great. another stupid book." "Read chapters 1,2, and 3 for tomorrow," Mr. Beaver said. OK. I went home took the book out of my back-pack and started to read one of the best books in the world, not noticing. Reading from 5-7 I sat in my room and kept reading. "Oh mi god!" I'm on chapter 9!" Oops! Well, the book is, in short, a great book of life lessons. Learning to live the life of a man at the age of 13 wasn't easy but had to be done. Robert, a young boy in the story, finds gimself in a small world with a lot of hurt. Nothing being fair, nobody seeming to care, and himself in the middle of nowhere. Start the first chapter and you'll read it all the way through!
Rating: Summary: A Day No Pigs Would Die- Review: First of all I thought is was filled with great details. I didn't like it at first but in the end when Robert's father dies it is sad but it makes Robert the man of the house. He has to do tons of work like check the eggs to see if they are good. Secondly, he has to milk the cow and lay the hay down. Robert lost his freind Pinky, a pig and he felt bad. He had to eat him and he didn't even cry! He just cared for his father then cause he knew his father was going to die soon. It almost made me cry!! I liked the book a lot and i give it a four in half star rating because the author explains to you how evertything happens. There are so many lessons I learned and we learned the birth/death situations. Their is lots of humor in the book like when Rob has nothing on and the cow is dragging him around in prickles. I hope more people will read the book and will have mixed emotions.
Rating: Summary: Mitchell's review Review: This book grabbed me on the first chapter alone. Throughtout the book, interesting subjects and things came. You will never know what is going to happen next. This book is so good that you wont put it down. The ending will grab you and hold you. It is the most surprised ending I have ever read.
Rating: Summary: A Day No Pigs Would Die Review: This delightful little novel is about a 13 year old country boy. In the first few chapters of the book nothing really happens that is to exciting. Rob the name of the main character in the book, receives a baby pig as a present for helping to birth a calf. But near the end of the book the setting in the book starts to change. Rob, now best friends with his pet pig, realizes that to save the farm he must let his dad slaughter his one and only friend Pinky, his pet pig. Once this happens the book starts to get interesting. Unfortunately his father dies and Rob realizes that he will need to take over the family farm. The book really doesn't get interesting until the last few chapters of the book; but in the end reading the whole book makes it worth while.
Rating: Summary: A Day No Pigs Would Die by: Adam L. 19861 Review: I encourage many people to read this book. It tells a story about a boy who gets brought up different form kids today. His dad always told him that hard work will get you far. His dad was never gentile with him either. The only thing he ever owned was a pig. It is a humourous as well as a depressing story. It talks about the family being in hardships. The only thing they were really rich in was their love for one another. The family pig farms for a living and don't get out much. Until oneday when the son enters his pig in the fair. Please take this in consideration and take time to read this great book.
