Summary: This little piggy didn't go to market
Review: This book is excellent for teenage readers! Many readers enjoyed the setting of the book during 1920 in Vermont. The main character, Rob is a young Shaker boy on a journey to manhood. The whole story is a chapter in Rob's life of maturing. He was given a piglet for helping his neighbor, remarkablyt he later named the piglet Pinky. Haven Peck, Rob's father, is a pig slaughter. Even though he is illiterate, he still knows he the ways of nature. Believe it or not Haven is an excellent role model! This is a great situation where tons of childern can relate. Inconclusion this book is wonderful for all ages of readers!

Summary: Book of Bacon!
Review: I think this is a truly inspirational book, and its readers will mature as much as the characters do. It's compelling to read more, and you may have to individually pry your fingers from it when you're done! It is a coming of age story of a boy growing up with his pig and becoming a man. This book shows the depth of love and loss, and keeps its readers laughing when Rob was tutored, and crying when they learn that Pinky must die. As such, this story sort of balances drama and comedy. Rob shows his innocence, but his mature and serious side, too. I really love this book, and I'll bet that everyone, from child to pig, will adore this book, too.

It's a heart warming story about a boy and his pet. This moving story may only get a 3 out of 5 in my oppinion, but it was still an incredible book worth reading at least ounce!

It is about a twelve year Shaker boy who has helped a cow have her calf and is rewarded a young pig. It takes place in the 1930's when Calvin Coolidge was president in the town of Learning, Vermont.
Robert and his pig, Pinky, are growing up together. He takes Pinky to Rutland Fair and Pinky wins best behaved pig. Robert's father's cousin was their neighbor's maid. She comitted suicide. Fall comes, apples are bad, and Robert's father can't shoot a deer. Robert's father is on the verge of dying.
They try to breed Pinky several times, but no babies. Robert's father lives through the winter and dies in the spring. After the night they bury him, Robert says goodnight to his father. Erica
