Rating: Summary: Stormbreaker Review: Just recently I read the wonderful book Strombreaker by Anthony Horowitz. My favorite character in this book is Smithers. I like Smithers because he makes a lot of interesting things for Alex, the main character. Like one time, he put something that would melt through metal, but was disguised as zit cream. Smithers is truly a remarkable person.

Rating: Summary: Response to Literature Review: Fourteen-year-old Alex Rider is no ordinary teenager. For many years he has believed that his uncle was a good, honest banker from England. Then late one night, he receives the message that his uncle had perished in a fatal car accident. That's when he learns that his uncle is more than meets the eye. He sneaks into the impound where the car was located and discovers bullet holes all along the driver side. He hadn't died in a car accident. He was murdered. He then discovered why. His uncle, Ian Rider, his uncle, was a spy for MI6, the spy agency of England. He learns that his uncle's banking office, , is actually the MI6 headquarters. After he passes their test he agrees to undergo training to complete his uncles last mission. During the mission, he must stop Herod Sayle, the nemesis of the book, from releasing the ultimate computer, the Stormbreaker. He must utilize stealth when all else has failed, wits, skill, and of course, sheer dumb luck. Stormbreaker, summed up in one little sentence, is awesome. My favorite character in this book is Alex Rider, the main character. He is a brave, resourceful teen with a bit of an attitude towards authority at some points. He is the perfect athlete and candidate for a spy. "'Do you think he is ready?, asked Mr. Blunt's secretary. 'Yes', replied Blunt"(Horowitz 34). The title of this book refers to the main "weapon" in this story, the Stormbreaker computers. The computers; created, built, and distributed by Herod Sayle and Sayle Enterprises, look like just extremely high-tech computers that become the ultimate tool for homework. However, inside a dark secret is held behind the computers' frame. A vial inside each one contains a deadly virus. This is not just any virus, but a scientifically altered version of smallpox, a disease wiped out by mankind long ago. "'My scientists have worked day and night to produce the ultimate virus, a smallpox on steroids, if you don't understand'"(Horowitz 67). Of all the books and movies I have seen, only one really relates to this story. Those movies star a certain action hero that you have probably heard of, a certain James Bond. I mean, both Alex and Bond have taken identities in the past, both are fluent in many languages, including German and French. Both of them are English. Both are of course spies. They even work for the same agency, MI6, Britain's government agency, like our CIA. "'Your uncle was a spy,' Blunt came cleanly. Alex couldn't help but smile. 'You mean like James Bond'"(Horowitz 25)? The theme of this book is without a doubt, action-adventure. I mean, if a story included a boy parachuting from the sky with an airplane being piloted right at him by an evil henchman, pursued by two machine-gun toting thugs on four-wheelers, discovering an evil plot to eliminate half of England's schoolchildren, and a four-thousand dollar bet on a game of snooker (a table game kind of like pool) would not consider it an action-adventure? This story reminded me of an ancient bible story, David versus Goliath. Herod Sayle & Sayle Enterprises pose as Goliath and Alex plays the part of David, taking out the evil corporation against all odds. All in all, anyone who enjoys a good action book will have a fun time with this book.
Rating: Summary: Stormbreaker book review Review: Stormbreaker is the most thrilling book Ive ever read. Anthony Horowitz wrote an amazing book about 14 year old, Alex Rider becomming a British spy. Anthony Horowitz wrote a great book taking place in England. The time setting in 2001, in a town called Port Tallon. I think that any person who like James Bond would love Stormbreaker. I recommend that you read Stormbreaker because it is action packed and filled with intense moments in the book. Alex Rider's adventures starts when he gets a house call at three in the mourning. He soon finds out his uncle is dead. His uncle is said to have died in a car crash shen the plolice say he wasn't wearing a seatbelt. Although, Alex knows his uncle doesnt' start the car with out putting his seatbelt on. When Alex gets blackmailed by the British government to save the world, he soon finds himeself being a spy for the British Government. All in all, this is a great book it has lost of action and emotion. If you like thrillers this book well thrill you.
Rating: Summary: Stormbreaker Review: The book Stormbreaker is an incredible written book by Anthony Horowitz, that dragged my attention to it with the great amount of action and adventure that kept me reading it non stop. in Stormbreaker, you never knew what was going to happen nextand what exciting detail that Horowitz would add. The main point in this story though is that kids can do big things because in the book, a kid completes big accomplishments for a spy agency. In present day London, England, a fourteen year old boy named Alex loses his uncle, his only living relatve, in a car accedent and the police said he wasn't whereing a seatbelt. Alex knows his uncle always wears his seatbelt, so he went to look at the car and discovered bullet holes in it. Then he goes to where his uncle works to find out how he could have died from bullets when he only works at a bank, but then he finds out his uncle's work is really a spy agency called MI6. They force him to become a spy and take over were his unlce left off; on spying and retrieving information on what Herod Sayle is producing. I give Stormbreaker four out of five stars because of its good action and good discription of the characters. I would recommend this book to someone who likes action/adventure or James Bond. I would do this because it is based on a book about a spy. All in all Stormbreaker is a great book to read.
Rating: Summary: Stormbreaker Review: STORMBREAKER is one of the few books that made me want to keep on wantong to read.STORMBREAKER is an action and adventure book. This is one of the few books I've read because its so good and intresting. STORMBREAKER is about a boy named Alex Rider. Alex finds out one day that his uncle died in a car crash. However the cops were kind of suspicious like they were covering something up. So Alex was curious and went looking for the car and at a dump. When he found it it was perfect and nothing was wrong with from where he was standing. Then he went to the front of the car and there was like 50 bullet holes in the window and the drivers sides door. So then he went to the bank where his uncle work. When he got there he went upstairs to meet hhis uncle's boss. However what hefound out was that his uncle was a secret agaent and the bank is actually a secret agent place for the government and his uncle was actually killed while he was doind a job some where close to London. Hoowver since Alex found out so much they couldnt let him go. So they decided to send Alex to finish his uncles job or else they would ruin his life. So when they sent him they gave him some tools he could use like a gameboy that was actually a computer and toothpaste that was a string and all that stuff that a regular teenage has. From the begging of this book its very intresting. I strongly recommend this book. I hope you get to read this book becasue if you dont you are missing out. This book keeps you guessing throught out it all.
Rating: Summary: Predictable... Review: I read the book Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz, and to tell you the least, I thought it was a lot like any other book I'd read in my life. It wasn't at all the worst book I'd ever read, but the plot was quite predictable, being a spy/action book. Since it's based around a teen's adventures of being a spy, it's a little more mild, but the action is still (and definitely) provided, and it isn't in small doses - give or take. You won't be excited enough to go to bed early just so you can read, so don't be too hyped! This is the type of book you might be forced to read in class. Anyhow, I'll give you a little background on the book, you know, without giving anything important away. It all goes down in England, where young Alex Rider resides. Alex's uncle is dead, presumably from a car crash. Alex's ingenuity and curiosity lead him to find out that's exactly what didn't happen. As soon as the truth is revealed to him, he's recruited to the MI6 agency, where his life is literally "put into the hands" of the kind people who work at this agency. The mission he's assigned to is not easy, but it's one he must fulfill - and that's where I'm stopping. I'm not telling you everything. Anyways, it doesn't matter where the book is set - it just doesn't make any difference. What I feel about this book is that it's lack of originality keeps it from being something better than it is. I guess that spy adventures should be exciting, and this one is, but about 75% of the time I could guess what was going on next. I'm not sure what else Mr. Horowitz has written, but this is mediocre. Even though it's critically acclaimed, and possibly could become a movie, I hope it doesn't do well. Maybe I'm just being mean. Oh well. Not my problem. My recommendation would go towards 6th and 7th graders. It was pretty easy for me, and I'm in 8th grade. It's written in a basic format, but elementary schoolers might struggle with it. That aside, this book was directed for the kids, and I have no problem with that. By the way, the moral of this story is NOT, I repeat: NOT to avenge your dead uncles. To tell you the truth, I don't even know what it is. If I were to give this a rating out of five stars, I'd give it 2.5, not a 3. It lacks too many components, originality being the most obvious.
Rating: Summary: Storm Breaker Review: I think Storm Breaker is a great book for teenager's. It is what almost every teenagers want's to do. To be like James Bond, with the cool gadgets, the intensity, and the thrilling things he does. This is a book for all age groups but targets teens. Anthony Horowitz is a great author. In the beginning of he story a kid named Alex Rider losses his parents and goes to live with his uncle Ian Rider. Alex thinks his uncle is a bank teller. His uncle dies in a car crash and later finds out that it was a lie. The police that told him his uncle died in a car crash. He went to this impound lot and found his uncles car riveted with bullet holes. the police were telling the truth about his uncle dying but they lied about him dying in a head on collision with another car. Alex Rider, Herod Salye, a rich guy who is giving new computer to all the schools in London. Mr. Blunt, the manger of the bank that Ian Rider worked for or so we think. read the book to find out ore about these characters. After you read this you can read the two sequels Point Blank and Skeleton Key.

M16 catches him at this junkyard and takes him to there head quarters and forces him to become an agent. The agency has to prepare differntly because kids are not allowed to carry guns legally so they give him other tools. Alex is sent to Port tallon near london.
